Good course layout with a lot of upside potenial.
You can see that at one time the south course was Q school material. With more TLC the courses can be very nice. I will play there again and would recommend it to others if the price stays reasonable.
Course conditions take away from good layout.
The value here was great as we got 18 with cart for $13.50 each on Golfnow. The course is in pretty poor shape around the edges (the rough and traps need loads of attention and work. The greens and fairways were passable. But all the water and toughness make the course worth a look.
tees are a little bear, could put some seed on them
tees are a little bear, could put some seed on them
they have a south & east course
For the money this course is a great place to practice and have fun.
Wear black...because this property may die any day now
Okay, let's start on a positive note: I liked the three-hole stretch on the East course from #12 thru #14. Unfortunately, now let's move onto everything else. I only paid $10 to play, but honestly was a little embarrassed to even be on the grounds. The course itself was playable (greens are very slow), but the overall condition of the entire property is brutal. Most aspects of the original Grenelefe are now closed/abandoned and a significant percentage of the housing surrounding the golf course looks like it hasn't been inhabited for years. The only other two players I saw on the course agreed with me that if we return to this remote area with our golf clubs again...we'll be playing Diamondback across the street. RIP, Grenelefe.
ordinary
the houses are at distance from the drives so it is easy to hit a house .
South course was in good shape don't know about the East
it's very wide open but there are a few holes were water comes into play. It was a nice course to play. Greens were green but slower than most courses we have been on.
Not ready for Q School, but a great value
We had a mod-morning tee time on a Sunday, so we fully expected a 4 1/2 to 5 hour round. However, we never saw another group the entire day. Overall, the course was in decent shape. There were some things that need attention, but overall they were pretty minor.
We played the South course and we really enjoyed the layout. You can see why it was a Q School course back in the day, and while it might not be practical to bring it back up to that level again, for $35 and not seeing another group all day, it was a really good value.
One thing to remember, this is an out and back course that does not come back to the clubhouse at the turn, so stock up on whatever you want to eat and drink before you tee off.
I love this course
Use every shot in your bag. This course is a walk down memory lane, when a player had to be creative. A course you have to massage in order to get the most from your game. There's no swinging for the fences on this course. Last but not least, you better have something between the ears otherwise this course will bring you to your knees after the first two holes and have you asking yourself whether you have ever played this game before.
Not impressed.
The course is being advertize at $90.00 green fees. At one time this course must have been a great course because the layout is very nice. At present it is poorly maintained and in desperate need of a face lift. I will not recommend this course to anyone.
Grenelefe could be great!
Grenelefe was once a top golf facility in the state of FL. It is in a beatiful setting with 36 holes that are well designed. It simply needs more money and attention to conditions. Greens had a lot of grass but was very slow...very slow. The tee boxes were in disrepair. Fariways were good and the price was right. I would recommend this course and hope that things improve...it could be great!
Greens were in excellent shape clubhouse was poor
The time has come to re-invest some money into this clubhouse and course if it's going to survive. The staff on the course were very friendly but they can only do so much. The fairways were well maintained for the most part but there was a large number of bare areas that needed maintenance. I was impressed with the greens, well kept and challenging.
The clubhouse was a disaster, part of which was shut down due to unsafe conditions. The wooden borders on the walkways were rotten and needed to be replaced.
All in all the game/course was OK but we never even stayed for drinks or food after.
Sorry I cannot recommend
Cheap, but needs maintenance
Nice layout, but course and facilities need work. people were friendly, out first, so pace of play not really applicable. got a great rate, greens in ok shape, fairways, cart paths etc. need significant work - generally the course and facilities are not in good shape.
Great deal for price
We were off very early and saw no one the entire time on the course. The greens were in great shape but very slow compared to other courses played this week. Overall, great course for the money.
great layout, course needs more attention to manacureing, greens have plenty of grass and undulation but could be a little faster, really slow,
great deal for 35.00
good layout
course need more attention to manacureing
greens had plenty of grass and undulation but could be cut a little shorter to get the value of the undulation and design
great challenge
lots od pine, very tight track but fair.Greens in terrific shape but not cut this day. Wouldn,t have played if not for Golf Now price.
Excellent course for the money.
Staff was very friendly. Gentleman who gives the golf carts out could be replaced with someone who has more energy. We had to wait a few minutes while he was doing something in the back, and when he did come around, he walks very slow. Once out on the course, the pace of play was good. The fairway conditions were good, green conditions were excellent (almost pristine).
Nice Layout good Greens
The course was in good shape but there were some ground under repair on several holes.
The greens were in great shape.
They have a dress code that is enforced.
The course is an old style lay out with all 18 away from the clubhouse no stopping at the turn and no beverage cart.
I did like the layout and the tough holes don't start till about the 5 hole.
