Not worth the drive from Kissimmee
WOW...not impressed. Greens were in horrible condition and not worth the full fee green fee paid. No GPS on carts. Restaurant was poor (staff told us they had a "fake kitchen"). Some challenging holes, but overall a flat experience with narrow fairways. Would not play here again. Played with my 2 kids (15 & 18) and my nephew (17) who are all less than 10 handicap (I'm a 27) and they thought it was "terrible"...
Bad to worse
On arrival I drove to large sign " Bag Drop" the attendant quickly approached with a quizzical look on his face and I asked if this was the bag drop. His reply " it hasn't been to bag drop for 5 years, people usually just park, go in and pay, get cart and go back to parking lot and load up". ( Why didn't I know that, maybe they should take the sign down.) Pro was setting up the restaurant for a tourney and looking after customers. Got cart and went to starter, turned out he was same guy we met at bag drop. Asked him where pin placements were and he said position 1 or 2, he couldn't remember. He said we could tell once we finished first hole.
Went into bunker on 2 nd hole - no rakes, turns out the carts were supposed to have them onboard.
Course was busy but played in just over 4 hrs, which was okay. Fairways were in poor shape, lots of dirt patches. Greens very small and slow.
Overall it looks like the place is in trouble and trying to save money by cutting back on maintenance and staff. Would not recommend this East course
Great design...no tricked up holes
A very unusual place. You can see that this was a top destination back in the 80's.The clubhouse is only partially used but is still in nice shape. You feel that there is alot of history there. The course was very enjoyable....we played on a Sunday and there was nobody in front of us.Great value...I would go back again but I am back in snow country.
really nice course greens were a good skill test
Staff was very friendly provided us balls for range to warm up the over all day was great hated to leave
What a dissappointment
We played on probably the coldest windiest day of the Winter. That being said we were one of the few that braved the elements that day (there were only 5 or 6 cars in the parking lot). It was 55 degrees and blowing 20-30 mph. The weather was not the only disappointment with this course. When we arrived the club house had been "roped off" and we enterered through the restaurant which was completely empty. It seemed like the lady in the pro-shop and the gal behind the counter did not want to be there. The starter also seemed like he did not want to be there either. We were thinking maybe someone had recently passed away and everyone who normally had worked there went to a funeral. It just had a very weird vibe to it.
We arrived at approximately 1:00 PM. We played the south course which probably in its day was a nice layout. But what was weird is the transition from the 9th to 10th hole could not have been further from the clubhouse. (It was probably 1/2 mile away). The greens rolled smooth but were extremely slow, they probably had not been mowed in at least 3 or 4 days. The fairways were also in rough shape. There was one restroom on the course but it was closed and replaced with a porta-potty which had not been serviced in awhile.
I usually do not write negative reviews, but if there are others like me who are not familiar with all of the courses in the area I would strongly urge you look for other tracks before spending any money to play this dive. We played Diamondback )which was across the street) in the morning which was a much better option.
The track was routed around several homes, and there were people wandering around the course when we played, we waited on several holes to hit our shots (we were the only golfers) as people)non-golfers) were walking wandering around the golf course as if it was a public park.
Big disappointment, I would not recommend this course to anyone..
need to try this course
the day we played the greens were slow because of over seed, but they could be a lot of fun do to the slopes they have. this course looks like it was a great course a one time and has a fun lay out. for the money we will play again.
GREAT COURSE, A MUST PLAY
TRULY ENJOYED, NOT A LOT OF TROUBLE AND IN GREAT CONDITION. PURE GREENS, LOTS OF FUN. THE STARTER
WAS GREAT IN GETTING US ON THE COURSE. GREAT SERVICE
AT THE BAR AND THE BEST OF SANDWICHES!!
PLAYED 5 COURSES WHILE IN FLORIDA AND THIS ONE AND
DIAMONDBACK ACROSS THE STREET WERE THE BEST.
poorly managed and maintained
This course was in the worse shape, greens and tee boxes were not mowed. Grass was four to five inches high on tee boxes with huge holes. Also, did not have our tee time, had to call golfnow. Good thing there was an open tee time.
GOOD COURSE FOR THE MONEY
COURSE NEEDED SOME MAINTENACE, LIKE GREENS NEEDED MOWING AND SOME BARE SPOTS OR GROUND UNDER REPAIR IN FAIRWAYS, BUT OVERALL IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE
very nice course layout
Last time to this facility was in1982. Resort was is superb condition. Sad to see what has occurred to entire resort. Played the south course yesterday and would play it again.
Great course some challenging holes
We golfed here and meet two great gents from PA, USA which made the golfing experience very enjoyable . We found the course in great shape especial the greens. Some very challenging holes with water in play. Overhaul great course will definitely visit again.
Great layout . It must have been fantastic in its prime
I like the course some interesting holes with water and large sandy waste areas. Good value and with some Investment could become a great course. The clubhouse and pro shop are not good but you don't play golf there get out and try the course. I do play a few times a week if its your only game while on vacation go play Disney's Magnolia Palm or LBV you won't be disappointed.
course is nice and wideW
Will recommend to my friends. Was not crowded in the afternoon.
Not what it once was
Played this course twice this weekend after not playing it since the late 1990s. I had heard that they had gone through some financial problems but it was on the way back to better conditions. That may be the case but it still has a long way to go. The course looks good from far but is far from good in terms on conditions currently. Greens look good but were extremely slow. Hard to believe that PGA Tour Q School was held here not too long ago.
the area needs some investment,
course itself is good, greens are in very good shape
South course needs attention
Played the south course. Fairways had spots in them, greens had been over-seeded and played slow. Greens had unrepaired ball marks. Course seemed damp even though it hadn't rained in 3 days (doesn't appear to drain very well).
in good nick.a bit rushed.
clubhouse facilities not great .greens very good.ended up playing on my own
Great place to play
The greens were true and fairly fast. Traps in fair condition (I was in several of them ) Tees and fairways pretty good for winter golf. We will book again and again.
A Hidden Gem
Played the East Course and it was not at all busy. We only saw one other golfer on this course. Seems most of the people were playing the South Course. The course was well maintained and required some interesting golf shots. The greens were a bit slower than I prefer.
