Pretty course but very slow play

Overall I liked the course. There were a couple completely hidden hazards but otherwise it was fun. Pace was awful on the front nine. No beverage cart

Not friendly

The staff at the pro shop during check-in could be more informative about the lack of water and no beverage cart. The ranger has a cooler with beer, although we only saw the ranger wiz by once on the front and then on hole 17 on the back. There is only drinking water at one place on each 9, this is not nearly enough for arid AZ. Talked to pro shop at the turn about the water issue and they were very indignant about it. There was no food/drink at the turn other than at the pro shop in a small fridge - if you don't know that you will miss it. Played here several times before, probably will not be back.

Another Slow Round at The Preserve

Another slow round at the The Preserve yesterday. Great course, great condition, but 5 hour rounds seem to have become the norm. No ranger, no beverage cart even on a 90 degree day.

Add this one to your bucket list!

Gorgeous views on a fun yet challenging course! Lots of wildlife in the vicinity....especially deer. Beware of washes near several greens on your approach shots.

Favorite Course Slipping

The Preserve has been my favorite course in the area. Challenging layout, great scenery and views. Have played many times over last 8 years. Unfortunately it appears the real estate developer/owner may be cutting back on maintenance. Played twice this week. One day good as expected and another day the greens seemed to have not been mowed so were extremely slow and very rough. Putts would not stay on line. This is not the first time we experienced this situation this year.

Great Mountain Views

Beautiful course. Lots of elevation changes. Need to stay on the fairway. Front 9 greens faster then back 9 but in great shape. Beautiful views of the mountains. Would play this course every time I'm in Tucson area.

Lots of variety

Played the course for the first time on a windy day with clear skies. Lots of variety of hole lay on uts. Views are awesome. Houses do not come into play for those with inconsistent hits. Will definitely be back.

The Preserve at Saddlebrook

This is my 3rd time to play this course. We visit Tucson from Texas multiple times each year. My reviews of the course have been posted to GolfAdvisor. The course has no staff to hep with bags. You still have to go find your own cart and carry all bags. On each of 3 visits to The Preserve at Saddlebrook our tee time was extended due to frost delay. The delays have been from 15 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes as we were passed over multiple times while local members were allowed to tee off ahead of us. On this visit, the course management did a much better job of managing the delay. I received a phone call prior to our tee time notifying me of the delay and the extended delay was managed efficiently. Clearly, someone has addressed this issue with the club management. Good to see the Review process having a positive impact for the customer. Thank you GolfAdvisor and Golfnow.

Nice Track

Very nice golf course with lots of elevation changes and tremendous views of the Catalinas. Fairways and greens were in good condition. This was our first time playing this course and the $2 we spent on the course layout book was well worth it as there are some hidden washes and some strategically placed bunkers you will want to avoid.

My wife and I really enjoyed the course, lots of tee options. I feel it was exceptional for the golfnow cost.

As good as it gets.

This is what our golf group calls a "target" course. Distance off tee is not a problem, as there is plenty of tee combinations to choose from. First time players will have a problem on a few holes that are blind from the tee. Would recommend a friend that has played there recently, or a course yardage book. Barring that, play down middle of those holes as far as you can see, and you will have a decent opportunity to score. Bottom line - the shear beauty of your surroundings will make your day, even if your score doesn't.

Very difficult

buy a yardage book for $2 or you'll regret it, lots of blind shots, narrow landing areas, confusing if you have not played there before. greens really slow too.

One person

Course is a really nice track, fairways and greens are in great shape. But it doesn't take much to put a damper on the day. Playing with a young couple and had just Tee'd off on the third hole (par 3) walking up to play our second shot and the ranger or players assistant whatever you wanna call him, yelled from the top of the hill to pick up our balls and move forward. I didn't think we were behind, but picked up and moved to the next T-box where we THEN waited for the foursome ahead of us to clear the fairway. Needless to say, I was really upset and continued to wait on every T-box for the rest of the day, completing a 4 hour and 40 minute round. The player assistant did come by and told me that they had over booked, like that's my fault. I suggest that all golf courses train thier rangers to access a situation closely before they open fire on a group!!!
