Poor Management at The Preserve

I played another 5 hour round at the Preserve today, the third in the last month. Pace of play and customer service are apparently of no interest to their management. We did not see a single ranger or a beverage cart during those five hours. The Preserve is a beautiful layout in excellent condition, but poor management overshadows those factors.

Beautiful Course

I guess it may be true if you have a good round you will rate the course high. I did have a good round but I would rate this course highly anyway. Well kept in all areas. Holes offered many different challenges which made you think about what club to use. The par 3's were fantastic using elevated tees over terrain hitting to large greens. The greens rolled slower to me than the practice putting green. I also felt I could use a shorter iron to get further distance which I did. Arizona air I presume. Highly recommend trying this course. GN has a special rate after 3PM which is terrific.

Great course

Beautiful course in great shape. Pay an extra $2.00 to buy the pamphlet that provides more course specifics. Greens were also in great shape and challenging as well. In my opinion, one of the better courses in the North Tuscon area.

Pretty course but very slow play

Overall I liked the course. There were a couple completely hidden hazards but otherwise it was fun. Pace was awful on the front nine. No beverage cart

Not friendly

The staff at the pro shop during check-in could be more informative about the lack of water and no beverage cart. The ranger has a cooler with beer, although we only saw the ranger wiz by once on the front and then on hole 17 on the back. There is only drinking water at one place on each 9, this is not nearly enough for arid AZ. Talked to pro shop at the turn about the water issue and they were very indignant about it. There was no food/drink at the turn other than at the pro shop in a small fridge - if you don't know that you will miss it. Played here several times before, probably will not be back.

Another Slow Round at The Preserve

Another slow round at the The Preserve yesterday. Great course, great condition, but 5 hour rounds seem to have become the norm. No ranger, no beverage cart even on a 90 degree day.

Add this one to your bucket list!

Gorgeous views on a fun yet challenging course! Lots of wildlife in the vicinity....especially deer. Beware of washes near several greens on your approach shots.

Favorite Course Slipping

The Preserve has been my favorite course in the area. Challenging layout, great scenery and views. Have played many times over last 8 years. Unfortunately it appears the real estate developer/owner may be cutting back on maintenance. Played twice this week. One day good as expected and another day the greens seemed to have not been mowed so were extremely slow and very rough. Putts would not stay on line. This is not the first time we experienced this situation this year.

Great Mountain Views

Beautiful course. Lots of elevation changes. Need to stay on the fairway. Front 9 greens faster then back 9 but in great shape. Beautiful views of the mountains. Would play this course every time I'm in Tucson area.

Lots of variety

Played the course for the first time on a windy day with clear skies. Lots of variety of hole lay on uts. Views are awesome. Houses do not come into play for those with inconsistent hits. Will definitely be back.

The Preserve at Saddlebrook

This is my 3rd time to play this course. We visit Tucson from Texas multiple times each year. My reviews of the course have been posted to GolfAdvisor. The course has no staff to hep with bags. You still have to go find your own cart and carry all bags. On each of 3 visits to The Preserve at Saddlebrook our tee time was extended due to frost delay. The delays have been from 15 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes as we were passed over multiple times while local members were allowed to tee off ahead of us. On this visit, the course management did a much better job of managing the delay. I received a phone call prior to our tee time notifying me of the delay and the extended delay was managed efficiently. Clearly, someone has addressed this issue with the club management. Good to see the Review process having a positive impact for the customer. Thank you GolfAdvisor and Golfnow.

Nice Track

Very nice golf course with lots of elevation changes and tremendous views of the Catalinas. Fairways and greens were in good condition. This was our first time playing this course and the $2 we spent on the course layout book was well worth it as there are some hidden washes and some strategically placed bunkers you will want to avoid.
