Golfer Reviews
Very nice
Very nice views of mountains. Greens very low and need to be mowed! Fairways are in very good condition
Good condition and value
Good condition and value based in the time of year.
BEST GOLF EXPERIENCE EVER
I golf throughout the state of AZ and this was my first time golfing at the preserve and hands down this was the best golfing experience I have had in a very longtime, from the facilities to the golf course as well as the staff. I had an amazing experience and the 3 others I golfed with agree whole heartedly.
no two holes are the same
This is a very challenging but fair golf course. You will use all the clubs in your bag. When you step to the T-box, don't think just driver. This course is fun and uses a lot of thought.
Oh, but for a calm breeze...
The Preserve is a beautiful course, with dynamic views and in wonderful condition. I played alone (which I enjoy) and the only complaint I had was well out of anyone's control.
The winds were fierce and sadly for me, the sort which shifted as to always be into me or hard hook or slice winds (only one hole, #11 proved downwind all day).
Just as I was thinking how the 25-35 mph battering I was taking had really strained an otherwise lovely day on course, a staffer came around in a cart. When I mentioned the wind, was told, "oh no, today is a calm day for here. The winds have been much worse of late". Yikes!
Excellent course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing the course. It was in excellent condition and the views are outstanding.
Excellent views
Fairways & greens were in excellent condition for this time of year. Excellent value with spectacular views, as a bonus you get to encounter some wildlife (road runners, lizards, bunnies, etc). Would definitely recommend and play again.
GREAT VALUE
The most DELIGHTFUL Par 3 Holes that you can possibly imagine, 290 yds 13th Hole PAR 4, Almost EAGLE this hole, 2nd shot just missed the Flag Pole
thirsty
Beautiful and challenging course. Tee time 1:22 and warm. Went out on the course with 2 bottles of water and planned on refilling on course. No water until 8th hole, no beverage cart, no place open to buy any drinks, went home after 9 holes from dehydration. Even the ball washers had no water. Loved the course. Bad form to not have at least water available on a desert course in AZ. MORE THAN ONCE A SIDE.
BES
This course is no joke the best. Saw rattle snakes (almost too close) 3 mule deer, 1 jack rabbit. But the play is what is the best, by far the best.
Best
Better than Tucson National, better than Dove Mountain, better than Tubac.
Plenty of wild life, saw mule deer (3) , one jack rabbit, one rattle snake got too close ops. So look down when you go there.
What a dream course.
Spectacular Settiing, Lots of Tee Boxes
There are tee boxes to suit your skill level, challenging from every one. Some blind shots, and hidden gullies. Play with someone who knows which shot will be affected.
Great views of the Catalina's
It was a great day like always golfing. There isn't really a snack bar or many drinking water spots.
unaccommodating
What a great track, great shape, true greens good sand, great risk reward. You will love to play this course if you don't mind being treated like a second class citizen for not being part of the golf community where this course is located. I have played here at least six times and with each trip I ask myself why. When arriving the signage is poor and you will find yourself wondering around trying to figure out were to leave your clubs, go to the pro shop, find the cart pick up clubs then get on your way. Oh and bye the way they are not very friendly if you are a Golf Now player! We are a on and off season golf area and I think they should be a little more accommodating to the guest playing in the off season helping them pay the bills. DONT FORGET WATER!! No one tells you water is only at two stops on the course and if your not a camel you best have a cup. When your done with your round find a place for a cold one somewhere, club house closes early. Love the track!!! not the people.
Pace of Play WARNING
This is a very difficult course with narrow landing areas, lots of hazards and bunkers, extreme elevation changes and very undulating greens. Be prepared for your group to take longer to play this course than other easier level courses in Tucson. I'm a fast player and usually finish in far less than 4 hours, but as you can see from the other course reviews, it is not uncommon for people to experience rounds of 5+ hours here, not because they are slow players, but because of all the challenges, hazards, and greater potential for lost balls. Depending on how crowded the course is, you can expect to add 30 minutes or more to your average round here, and maybe even an hour or more on very busy days.
Great scenery; very tough course
Unlike most of the golf courses in and around Tucson, this course has lots of severe elevation changes on nearly every hole. Expect many severe uphill, downhill and sidehill lies if you play here. It is not uncommon to have to take 2 extra clubs to ascend a steep uphill climb to an elevated green or to get an extra 50 yard roll on a severe downhill drive. Greens were in excellent condition and undulations provided lots of challenging reads. Sand bunkers are plentiful and in just the "perfect spots" so be sure to bring your best sand game. With proximity so close to the Santa Catalina mountains, the scenic views on most holes are picture perfect, but don't take your eye off the ball or you may end up chasing your ball into habitat frequented by javalina, mountain lion, bobcat, deer, and rattlesnakes!
awesome. views
A great course in great condition, very friendly staff. We even.had cows on the 18th hole. Would recommend.highly to all.
