Lovely course with beautiful views!!
I have played this course several times and every time I love it.
Conditions here are always great and the views are stellar, bring a camera for hole #6, it is amazing. The course has its challenges as it is somewhat of a mountain/desert layout with a lot of elevation changes and variety. No hole is the same and there are many holes on the back that you need to know the course for as there are places with blind shots where you need to lay up. The greens here are also very good and roll true and this is one of my top 5 for Tucson to play. You won't regret playing this course. Only downside is the restaurant has odd times available for food and their menu is not so great an the pro shop closes early all year long. This is probably because it is a retirement community but overall this is one of the best in Tucson and play it before all the homes are built up while you can still enjoy the scenery and wildlife..
Great views
Course at top of valley that hasn't been developed yet. Play it before it's surrounded by houses.
Great golf experience
An intriguing course in a gorgeous setting. Every hole offered something unique and interesting, many with fascinating elevation changes. Watch out for those hidden drainage trenches. Greens could be a little faster but undulations provided appropriate challenge.
Fantastic design and inspiring views
This is one of my favorite courses in Tucson. I am from Florida but come to Tuscon every year and always have this course on my "must play" list.
this is a course you must play more than once to learn the lay-out
this course is fun to play as its greens are in great shape and the holes are challenging.I am looking forward to playing this course again now that I know the lay-out.There are several hidden holes where course knowledge is a great help, which makes the golfer really have to think about his club selection
good course, terrible grounds crew
I play in excess of 75 rounds per year. I have never in 15 years of play experienced such terrible behavior by the grounds crew as we did on March 20 On the front nine, a grounds crew member followed us on every hole and as we got to the tee he went to the green and started cutting as we were supposed to be hitting our approach shots. When we asked him, after the third such hole if he wouldn't go in reverse so he was not with our foursome all day, and maybe he should consider shutting down while we hit our approach shots and putted, he got angry, said he was doing his job, that he intended to follow us the entire remaining holes (we were on 7 at the time) and then threatened to meet us in the parking lot afterwards. He also continued to make eye contact and threatening gestures after we proceeded to the next hole. several holes later, as we were all about 100 yards or so out hitting our approach shots, a new grounds crew guy drove a machine into the green side bunker fronting the hole as we approached. We asked him to move so we could shoot - he refused. Luckily no one hit into the trap or hit him. When we asked him at the hole what he was doing he said "his job" we said we had never seen crews not move and stop work in the same circumstances on other courses. He was not nasty like the prior guy but totally convinced he was doing what he was supposed to do - heck with the paying golfers.
Preserve either needs to train their crews or if the examples above show their policy on handling these situations, change their policy.
THe course is very nice and would certainly go back if the crews behaved themselves.
Beautiful course to play
My wife and invited to out of town friends to play this course. they play at some very nice courses around the country. They commented several times about how great this course was to play. The layout, conditions and views are excellent.
A great golf experience and deal.
An excellent golf value at a wonderful golf course.
We paid $49 from golf now, I'm sure a $40 twilight time would allow you to finish (in March anyway)
The pace was good; 4 1/4 hour, Play was well spaced, we didn't wait once. Lots of players from the local community who know speed of play etiquette and don't hold you up
Lots of elevation change, two great par threes over arroyos.
It's a desert course with lots of undulation, and canted fairways.
Greens are excellent. They're a bit slower than most desert greens because they are so lush and kempt, but they hold and run very true.
The "canyon" feel of the course is spectacular - there's even a creek , I think it's even a natural one!
Don't go on Monday - no food available at the turn, a real disappointment ; we were famished by 18th. Also, "Bubb's Grub" the local Barbeque diner is closed Monday.
You can drive your cart to your car for easy packing and unpacking - gotta love that.
Good practice facilities.
Preserve is worth the 90 minute drive from Apache Junction - especially if you plan a stop at Bub's Grub afterwards.
A great day - wonderful golf course, upscale, well priced and
well maintained.
9/ 10 ( gotta have a sandwich or tube steak available - even on Mondays! - come on guys!)
Great condition.
Pristine fairways, excellent greens and spectacular views make this one of my favorite courses.
Inept staff.
The course was very well maintained and a pleasure to play. If only the staff at the pro shop were as professional as the greens keepers. The guy didn't give us our cart key, didn't tell us that a driving range token was worth only 19 golf balls, and couldn't make change correctly.
Challenging on a windy day.
A well maintained but challenging course with some great par 3's. Not much water but gulches and arroyos cut across many
fairways so that playing a few times to know where to hit would be most helpful. Would go back on a calm day.
Extraordinary golf experience with spectacular holes
A highly challenging, beautifully layed-out course. Being week-end players, we played the gold tees which provided ample challenge. The course is rather unforgiving, which requires thought about ball placement. I found the elevation changes and sloping fairways require a high degree of shot accuracy in order to score well. I will e back!03/
Tough course but an excellent value
Tough and challenging course. Course is in excellent condition, greens were true and fast. Lots of elevation changes and stunning views of the Catalina Mountains. Super friendly staff. Played the course on a day that featured a shotgun start with "A" and "B" groups on each hole but the pace of play was well managed and all the groups were able to maintain a nice spacing. Highly recommend playing this course.
Slow play ruined the day!
Very good conditions at a fun course, but one group in the home club men's league caused 40 - 45 minute backup...course rangers were powerless to take any action, so 4:45 - 5:00 hr. round resulted on a course that should be played in 4:00 or less! I've sent an e-mail to the pro, who is also pro at our home club, which was closed due to an NCAA Tournament.
This course is a hidden gem
I would recommend bringing your wide lens camera. The surroundings are breathtaking. It makes missed shots more palatable. This course is second to none. Staff was friendly and course was immaculate. I definitely will return. Worth the drive!!
Great Course!
My husband and I really enjoyed the course. it was challenging and had some wonderful scenic holes.
not impressed
Not good value for money, very disappointed. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAY THIS COURSE FOR A LONG TIME.
An upscale experance
Perhaps the best kept secret in Tucson. Great Condition, Great Views, We were sorry to see the 18th come so soon.
The value on Golf Now was also great.
Course has great scenic views
Good golf course with a lot of challanging holes. Enjoyment of the round was diminished by the 4 3/4 hourse it took us to play.
nice fairways, and really fast greens, nice scenery
nice fairways, and really fast greens, nice scenery, my only complaint is that there weren't many saguaros lining the fairways
