Great layout, course conditions could be better
We love the layout of the course with many interesting holes and the feeling of being out in the countryside with few houses impeding the views. Pace of play was excellent. The fairways were not overseeded this year, so you're playing of dyed dormant Bermuda, which we didn't mind at all. However the greens have been overseeded and are quite fuzzy. They are the slowest of any of the courses we've played over the last two weeks.
Beautiful golf course
We played this golf course for the first time and absolutely loved it! We have played numerous courses throughout Arizona and this might be one of our very favorites. We will definitely be playing here again and again.
Terrible condition
This course is frustrating in that the location and layout could make it the best in tucson. It’s ALWAYS under repair. The greens were half dead. Maybe rolling at a 3 on the STIMP. it is borderline unplayable. They would be better off removing all of the greens and starting over. This course needs to be shut down for a year and allowed to recover from whatever poor management it has been suffering through. It has so much potential but the conditions drive people away.
Beautiful & interesting course layout
This is not a farm field transformation for recreation but rather an interesting use of valleys and hilltops to challenge golfers to plan their shots to utilize the terrain for best results.
Disappointed
I had played this course many times, several years ago. It was a "go to" course for my wife and me when vacationing in Tucson. I played it today and was very disappointed in it's condition. The greens were OK, but the fairways were horrible.
Not Worth It
I have had played this course many times over the years and was always one of my favorite in the Tucson area the scenery is phenomenal unfortunately the course conditions were atrocious the worst course we have played in Tucson in the last 2 weeks the fairways were not overseeded with Rye but we're simply dyed green no grass whatsoever on the fairways the Rough was Bermuda 4 in Long and they charge $85 per round to play this goat Ranch
Beautiful scenery at the foothills of the mountains
Played the Preserve Golf Club at SaddleBrooke today. Was a little apprehensive because of the terrible reviews regarding the course conditions. We were pleasantly surprised. The tee boxes , greens and sand traps are in good shape. The fairways are thin and have been painted, but we have played on worse courses in the Tucson . The layout is a lot of fun and the views throughout the course are really nice. Pace of play was great (under 4 hours) considering that it was very crowded and bunched up because of a frost delay. The weather was cold but the golf was good. Unless you are a golf snob, this is a very enjoyable course. We plan to play it again next year when we return to Tucson.
Terrible Fairways - Decent Greens
I have enjoyed The Preserve in the past. Too bad the fairways are in terrible shape; I sure hope they come back. The Greens were in decent shape, the ball rolled well. The Staff was friendly & the pace of play was good. They simply are charging too much. All things considered the price should be $35 - $40. ($40 for a morning round).
worth the drive from old town scottsdale
challenging but great views and elevation changes on holes, will play again
Some rough spots
Understand there was some work done to the course. Some holes you could see areas of sod but it was playable. Overall it’s in good condition
Used to like the course, but not in the current condition.
The course needs water badly.
You know things are bad when you can’t push in your tee on the tee box!
Not much real grass on the fairways, just green spray on dead grass, if that.
So different than past years.
This used to be a really nice, course, and we loved to play here. Now.. not so much.
If you are charging a premium price, you better have a nicer course.
Painted fairways
Layout of the course was nice with beautiful Mountain View’s. Unfortunately, some of the fairways were painted green. Several holes including two par 5 holes were cart path only for no apparent reason. I would not recommend this course in these conditions at this price.
Paid $67, it is in the range that most courses are this time of year. Not a great price, but reasonable.
Curious to know what you paid and if you thought it was high/low or properly priced?
