Eagle Eye Golf Club
About
Located near Michigan’s capital city of Lansing and minutes from Michigan State University’s campus, Eagle Eye Golf Club is one of the state’s top-ranked public courses. The 18-hole championship course opened in 2003 and was designed by Chris Lutzke, a protégé of legendary architect Pete Dye. Lutzke’s design features some Dye staples like railroad ties, severe mounding and pot bunkers. But the most recognizable homage to Dye is the TPC Sawgrass-inspired island-green 17th hole. The 9th and 18th holes are both dramatic par 5s that hug each side of a large pond from tee to green. Eagle Eye has a 65,000-square-foot clubhouse that, in addition to a pro shop and grill with outdoor seating overlooking the course, can host a variety of large groups, outings and weddings. Over the years, Eagle Eye has regularly made the Golfers’ Choice Michigan an Top 50 United States lists on GolfPass.

One of the Best Courses
Great course, great people. 12 holes of 18 holes are with waters
Great golf... One of the best in the state.
I have played several nice golf courses in the state of Michigan and if you haven't played eagle eye you really need to give it a shot. It definitely has Pete Dye characteristics and it is a second shot golf course. The course when I played was in great shape. I have played Arcadia Bluffs, Bay Harbor, Harbor Shores, Tullymore St. Ives, The Bear, Lochenheath, Pilgrams Run, and Eagle Eye was groomed and the staff were comparable to these great tracks. The bonus here is #17 which is the replica hole to TPC sawgrass. It plays the same as it does in Florida. The nice touch here is on all the par 3's they provide the laser yard ages right to the flag. No guessing just pick your club and hit the shot. I had a burger at the turn and it is one of the best I have ever had.
You will not be disappointed ... You really need to play this gem if you haven't. I live 2 hours away and it is worth the drive to play this fun track.
Fabulous design and visually delightful
A challenging track from any of the tee boxes. We bit off more than we could chew by playing the Black tees . No regrets though it showed me how good the "good" players are to score well at those yardages. Next time , I at least , will play from the White tees as a 10/12 handicapper should.
Fun, beautiful and challenging!
This is a gorgeous and fun course, but bring lots of extra balls with you as there are plenty of opportunities to lose them! There are just four holes without water hazards, heavy rough, and lots of bunkers. This course should be on every golfer's bucket list!
This course was a thing of awesome beauty.
What a tremendous afternoon of golf. From the staff upon arrival to the last putt on the final hole. Everything an afternoon of golf is supposed to be. If the carts had GPS it would be perfect. Great test of golf.
Great conditions
Overall the course was is superb shape with near perfect greens that rolled fast & true. Great practice area w/ complimentary range use, there are numerous tee boxes with generous landing areas to accommodate any skill level. My only complaint is the design of hole #3 but this is me being hyper-critical. I recommend playing this course at least once a year and with the normal green fees attached, it's about all the average income can afford. Even with an available golfnow hotdeal, the green fees are still around $70.
nice sunny day
Played blue tees - about 6400+ yards. All 4 par 3's very challenging even though they are short (except #12). Par 5's not so much. Course in good condition. The greens are large and contoured, so in most cases you are better off shooting for the pins no matter where they are, unless you are a very good lag putter. Rough was quite high - our group lost 2 balls that we definitely expected to find in play. Other than that very enjoyable round. Wouldn't pay the normal $85 green fee, but consider it a bargain at the discounted Golf Now rate.
Great course.
The course was in fantastic condition, you really had to search to find a weed here. I think I found 3! Plush rough that penalizes wayward shots. Very challenging course for all level's of players. Don't be fooled by the yardage on the card. Make sure to pick the right set of tee's. Nice touch at #17, think TPC Sawgrass.
Excellent design and condition
Wonderful course, didn't even feel like I was in Michigan anymore. I will be back for sure.
Course was in great shape.
Very challenging. Requires you to know what club to hit off the tee box. A top tier course worth the money I paid on Golf Now.
Don't look now, but they moved TPC Sawgrass to Lansing Michigan
This Pete Dye collaboration is a complete examination of your golf game. I played on a windy day and used every club in my bag. The course is well maintained and pace of play was good. I will return soon to see if I can play it closer to my handicap,
Great layout, greens need work.
The layout of this course is great. Fairways are maintained very well. The greens on this course were not acceptable. Ball marks were everywhere on every green. Need to send staff out in the evenings to help with the maintenance on the greens. The pace of play was very slow for how few folders were out. The starter told us they were full, but then said they had many two-somes and singles. Full meaning that they had a tee time at least taken. I was able to play for $37.00, which is fair, but I have seen much better greens at courses that are normally in the $30-40 range.
great design for shotmakers
Played here after a heavy rain. Cart path only slowed the pace some, but still moved along well. Large undulating greens were a little slow but rolled true. Would definitely play this course again.
Favorite course in the area
Great course. I do not play it often enough, but it is excellent. Course is in good shape. Some of the tall grass has been cut back making more mishit balls findable if not playable.
Great course at bargain pricing
I love Eagle Eye. If this course was up north, you would have to pay 50% to 100% more to play it.
Some nice risk/reward holes should you choose to play tees that allow you to have those options.
Pace of play, as with any difficult public course can be a bit of a problem, but usually is not too bad at Eagle Eye, unless you get stuck with the 25+ handicapers who want to "play from the tips" while they shoot their 110+ scores.
Usually in excellent condition and just a combination of fun and challenge that I greatly enjoy.
Worth every penny
Beautiful course. Definitely worth the steep prices. This is the only course I've on Golf Now that had a perfect 5 star review, and I can see why. Great views off the tees, especially the Sawgrass-esque par-3 17th. Not too long so less skilled players like myself can do alright. Stay out of the rough, though. Long rough and weeds make it tough to get to the green. Great greens, medium speed with challenging contours. No matter age, skill, or style, you won't be disappointed.
As good as reviewed
One of best courses I have played in Michigan. Great course, great condition, attentive staff. Great value.
Awesome
Exceptional layout , very challenging, best greens I've putted on this summer
Probably the best maintained course in the area and got a great deal
Played a twosome in 3 hours and only had one group to get by. Course is in great shape and very challenging. 4 sets of men's tees to choose from. Several greens that require a precision shot or you will cost yourself a couple of strokes. Normally $75, but through this site played for less than half that! You will enjoy this course.
A top 5 course
They say this is the #4 ranked public course in Michigan and I can see why. It's a links style course with many interesting holes and plenty of water. The green are generously sized, but feature plenty of contours, making placement of your approaches of the utmost importance. Overall the condition of the course was top notch, putting this among the best five courses I've been fortunate enough to play. The par 3 17th, a replica of the famous 17th island green at TPC Sawgrass, was especially cool. The only negative was the weather; very cool and drizzling for late July, but I would play it again without hesitation even if the weather were the same.
