Lakeside Golf Course
       About
Located less than an hour from Tampa and Orlando, LakeSide Golf & Country Club in Inverness has a unique and scenic setting with four holes that play around an abandoned phosphate mine. The challenging layout will test you with long par 5s and a slew of doglegs. Unlike some of the flatter, marshier golf courses you'll find throughout Florida, this layout has rolling, wide open fairways and large, undulating greens. Be prepared for more than 50 strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greens in addition to well placed smatterings of tall oaks and pines. The rough can also be very punishing if you're errant. There are some challenging holes but it's not overly daunting; beginners and casual golfers will still enjoy the golf course. There is also a driving range available at LakeSide Golf & Country Club.

Needs rough cut
Courses made great improvements. However, most recently the rough has gotten crazy long. I know I’m not supposed to play out of the rough, but not everybody hits them perfectly straight. With the trim on the rough this course could be retuned to its glory days.
Worst course conditions I have ever seen
This course was in terrible shape. Poor tee boxes, very fairways had grass, mostly weeds. Overgrown, uncut grass. Tree limbs, downed branches, crap all over the place. It was'nt from the recent storm, you could see there was just junk left all over the place. This course has not been taken care of. Will not play again.
Course conditions are improving
The greens are in decent shape, they were being mowed just before I played, so they were pretty fast and rolled well. A couple of the greens had some bad areas, but the pins were placed in the good areas.
The fairways needed to be mowed and the weeds were an issue, had to roll the ball to avoid hitting off of weeds. The rough also needed to be mowed, but probably because of all the rain we've had in the area.
The course was definitely better than the last time I played there 2 months ago.
Where's the course maintenance
I've played the course on and off since 1997. Evidently they got a new superintendent about a year ago who seemed to want to step up the course maintenance. With that said, my group played many times this winter after a few year layoff of playing due to perceived poor course conditions. We were pleasantly surprised that the course had improved greatly. So much so that we decided to give it a shot this summer when the course has historical suffered. In doing so, we were shocked to see the dramatic decrease in the condition of the course. It was nearly unplayable and not worth ANY price of admission. I don't feel it's necessary to detail this disaster. So sad. Won't be back unless I hear thru the golfers grapevine that is improved greatly that without new ownership I can't see that happening.
weather damaged
Rough was long, lost more balls than in the last 6 months, many no grass situations.
Summertime Sadness
Lets just say this course wasn't "up to par". Showed up before my tee time to hit range balls and warm up. Unfortunately I had to wait 5 minutes so the "club pro" could finish his Marlboro light. The range was riddled with weeds and bald spots. On the first tee, they were still in the process of mowing the fairway...at 10 a.m. I get that it's $23 for 18 w/cart and I don't expect Augusta National. However, I do expect someone to mow the fairway before 10 a.m. On that same page, the rough wasn't being mowed at all. If you miss the fairway, I hope you enjoy Easter egg hunts. The entire course was rough and virtually unplayable/very unenjoyable. It's sad because I remembered playing this fun design in the past when the conditions were far better.
If someone dropped me off on this course and I had no idea where I was I would say I was on an old abandoned golf course...terrible fairways with lots of weeds and exposed dirt...greens not much better and cart path was undrivable because of crumbled asphalt...rough was unplayable at over a foot high...not recommended even for price...wont be back
Great Course!
This course is wide open, average conditions for a $30 course. Youth friendly, great staff
Still a blast
Great fun. Tons of work on this course. Keeps getting better.
Terrible
Absolutely horrible condition!!
Course is crappy and in bad shape. The layout was good but everything else is bad. Except for the drink lady she was kinda nice. Oh and the carts were clean and pretty fast.
Would not recommend this course or play it again unless it was free. The kid at pro shop acted like he didn’t want to be there and had better things to do like sleep.
finally growing grass and not weeds only
the maintenence e staff have made a huge turnaround since last year you would lose a ball in the fairways, they are slowly gaining traction against the weed infestation, all that stuff takes time , major improvemts from a year ago and grass growing in places it hasn't for 10 plus years. the golfers here and lack of rangers make it much tougher on staff, people parking wherever and treating it like they own it are a huge problem that hopefully will be addressed. for such a small maintenence team, they are doing a great jon
