I love the downhill par threes. It is a challenging course. Lots of beautiful holes!
I play my best golf here and I am an amateur. We usually always see lots of wild life.
A little beat up
Cart paths need to be repaved. Kind of shakes the kidneys driving around. Sandtraps are either grown over or in disrepair. 18th hole was weird dogleg par 4 crammed into a small area that you hit 5 iron then wedge from a elevated tee. I guess you can try to drive the green, but it is completely blind and if there is a group ahead of you, well, make sure your insurance premiums are paid up. Three of the four par 3s (3, 5, 17) are the same hole. Elevated tee, severe drop to the green. Par 5, 15th forces you to go for the green in 2 based on its design. No place to lay up..and a bit dangerous to drive a golf kart on. Holes 7, 8, 9, 10, 13 and 16 are awesome par 4's that really challenge you with their design. 4 is an interesting short par 4 whrer the drive has risk/reward. 6 is not interesting short par 4 where more land would have helped. Wish they had more money for upkeep. Not sure I am interested in playing it again.
Terrible
Course is in awful shape. A few of the holes don't even look like they are part of an actual golf course. It's like someone just threw a flag in a back yard and called it a golf course. Carts are beat up and break doesn't even kee cart in place on the steep hills. Really not safe since the cart paths are beat up bad. Would never play here again.
Fair but challenging course.
First of all, the staff are very friendly. This is a nice course that has the right amount of rolling hills, water, and trees. It is not a long course but you have to keep the ball in play using the right club selection and on some tees.
The only drawback I have encountered is occasionally you may get behind a pairing that is very slow and it may take awhile to play through or finish the round. Nothing terrible though, and for the money and challenges the course offers, it is still a great value and a good place to play.
Beautiful course and friendly staff. Challenging but has wide fairways for the average golfer to score well.
nice course slow play...
nice course and the people who work there are very nice. the play is slow due to old timers but that doesnt bother me at all. if you are a very good player who is uptight go elsewhere.
Fantastic course in Batavia Ohio
The green is always maintain well. The staff is very nicely welcome you guys as old good friends. The course is challenging enough, but you can enjoy.
Challenging course
First time I ever played here . Before I talk about the course, the staff was awesome, Terry I know they only rate 1-5 but I'm giving you a 10 above and beyond the call of duty and I thank you for that. The course is very nice and back 9 very challenging and for being late in the season decent shape, good specials and prices, I'll be back and I recommend playing this course, very fun !
Fun course to play
Course give golfers of all levels the opportunity to score.
Terrible shape
The fairways are almost completely gone. Mainly weeds and dirt. Greens OK but a few were very poor. Pace of play in several spots...mind numbing.
Bad shape
I don't know what happened to this place. I played it last spring and was in decent shape. Played on Friday, course couldn't have been in worse shape.
This course needs some major work
Cedar Trace does not deserve the high praise it is receiving here on Golfnow. The course is in terrible condition. So much so that the grounds keepers should be ashamed of themselves. The tee boxes have barely any grass on them. They are all dirt and weeds. The same goes for the fairways. There is crabgrass everywhere not to mention giant bare spots of dried up mud. Then there are the greens. Burnt spots and just pitiful putting surfaces. Also, the bunkers are just rocks and dirt as there's barely any sand in them. Now the clubhouse is in good condition and the woman at the counter was nice but that doesn't help the fact that this course ranks as one of the worst courses I have ever played. Avoid at all costs even with a Hot Deal tee time. It's a shame because the course has potential as the layout is unique and the scenery is nice.
Surprised By It All
Honestly I was totally blown away by this course. Having heard good but vague things from my cousin over the years, I expected a simple but well maintained course. Needless to say I was absolutely blown away by this course. Everything from the maintenance and set up of the course to the workers and club house were top notch for the price point a round here can be had at. Two friends and I had an early afternoon eighteen hole riding tee time on a Wednesday in July. We decided to try it because it was new to us and we received an amazing "Hot Deal" through GolfNow so we figured we would get what we paid for. After arriving, checking in at the club house, and practicing on the putting green I felt like we had stolen from these good people. Once I got out on the course, I felt like I should have paid three times the amount I did.
There were well maintained fairways, greens, and tee boxes. Friendly staff both on and off the course. Hidden hazards that made play challenging but fun. Large and small greens that really tested the strategy in our intermediate golf games. There seemed to be a perfect mixture of par threes and par fives to keep the challenge and fun at a maximum through the round. There were no holes that I did not like and some that were the most fun I've ever had at any course. There was nothing gimmicky about the set up, but compared to most courses I play at a lower price point, I again did not expect the wonderful afternoon I had at Cedar Trace. The pace of play for the weather and time of day and year also amazed me. Never a single wait at any tee box and never anyone making me feel rushed from behind. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated in my game. I've already booked another round this weekend and plan for a third a few days after that. This is sure to become my new favorite golf course in the tri-state area that a golfer of any age, skill set, or income bracket can enjoy.
Beautiful Scenery and Good Conditions
Nice country course in good shape. Played on a Saturday morning in 4 hrs 15 min. Good pace for a Saturday
Tricky and fun
This is a really fun course and a good value. Lots of blind hazards, slopes and interesting features to take into account. I've played it twice and look forward to doing so again with the benefit of past experience on the layout.
Fun Course, Great Value, Great Staff
We played 18 on a rainy Sunday. The course was in good shape. Greens rolled true. The staff is always top notch there. Really enjoyed our round.
