Cecil Field Golf Club

About
Fiddler's Green at Cecil Field Golf Club is located at the Cecil Commerce Center, formerly the Cecil Field Naval Air Station. The golf course was built in 1975 and has been managed by Capstone Golf since 2005.
Fiddler's Green is a regulation 18-hole course in a beautiful tree-lined setting with no development on its borders. The course offers a stern challenge, measuring 6,643 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 125.
Towering pines shape the course as it weaves its way around the serene natural setting. Fiddler's Green's generous fairways leave challenging approach shots to some of the smallest putting greens in the area.

Terrible
Course is terrible. There is no difference in fairways or rough, all grass is terrible. Greens are in very rough condition. Half the flags were broken and not standing upright so you could not have a target. This course needs new management. It was $22 and it was not worth my time or money
You get what your pay for
The course needs a lot of work and especially the greens. Reviews confirmed that the conditions were not great and would recommend somewhere if you are looking to play a round. I think it could be a neat track if someone’s willing to put some money into it. It has small greens and potential to be a great track if some work could be put into it. Do not expect much when you go and good luck getting a cart when you go as they were short when I checked in.
The fairways were very high, we lost a total of five balls in the fairway, and the greens were very rough.
So much potential
I love me a cheap and cheerful golf course and this location has that feel. It’s cheap and easy going but the course is in really bad condition. There is no distinguishable fairways, the greens are almost impossible to putt on and tee boxes with corresponding signage are falling apart. Fun course to drive balls on for practice but make sure you pack extra balls with you.
Sunday, September 3, 2023 s 11:30 am tee time.
The young on duty did not accept Golfnow and refused to lo allow play.
I went On Monday, September 4th I called the golf course and was not able to speak to a manager. They claimed that they didn’t have any more cart.
Very Sad
I first played here in late ‘70s when I was stationed at NAS Cecil Field. I heard that the course was not in good shape but for nostalgia reasons I went out to play. The fairway were like moderate rough on other regional course; the bunkers were firm packed sand with vegetation growing in the and the greens were poorly covered and very slow; about 4 on the Stimpmeter. The course design/layout is nice and challenging but conditions make it almost impossible to play. List a number of balls in the fairway sine the grass was 1-2 inches long. A very sad decline of what used to be a fine, fun course.
Awful
This was by far the worst golf course I have played on in 10 years, I paid $140 for a four sum and I wish I could get every penny back. The tee boxes and fairways have grass passed my ankles. The greens have dead brown grass and weeds all over it, I lost ALOT of balls in the fairway grass. Ridiculous. DO NOT GOLF HERE!!!
Back 40 golf
To be honest I have seen driving ranges better maintained. The place is absolutely a sad situation. Good luck finding your ball off the drive even when it dead center of the fairway. The greens are all over grown and almost should be the fairway. After the second hole there was no reason to even grab the putter out. We cut it short by 7 holes as it just was not fun and very miserable. I’m more shocked as it use to be a military course. None the less probably not booking back through golf pass as the representation was not very accurate. However if you enjoy playing where’s Waldo with your ball in your grandads back 40 this place would be perfect.
Such a shame.
Reserved a Tee time for 930 but all of the carts were given away and we had to wait until 11 to play, the Fairway looks like a cattle field and the Greens are not maintained. This golf course cater more to frisbee golfing than actual golf. Very disappointed. And some of the golf carts do not have any brakes.
The management was as rough as the greens
The one highlight of the day was the lady working the pro shop. Friendly and cordial. That was the highlight. 1st hole manager/ owner drove out to us, I had sliced the ball which was lying in-between out of bounds and the abandoned driving range and proceeded to be rude and make some snarky comment about us trying to steal his range balls. I was just looking for my ball. Great first impression. Other worker, came out and rudely proclaimed that cart needed to be back by 1900. No excuse me, thank you, just rudely stated. Now to the course condition, greens were rough/ crab grass and dirt(imagine putting on gravel). Fairways were uncut, the few cut, piles of clippings lying about. Worst course I have ever played on. Not worth the decent pricing.
Unmown conditions
The course was not mowed, and I saw lots of weeds and various types of grass with very little Bermuda. I did not realize the course was not being maintained.
No Greens or tee boxes
Same layout, no greens or tee boxes, I actually like playing out of the sand based fairways. Mostly a frisbee golf course now. Technically probably still a golf course but marginally.
The course is in terrible condition and people were playing frisbee golf while we were trying to play
Not Worth
I was able to take my time and practice due to the lack of golfers. That is the only redeeming quality about this place.
No one seems to take care of the course and they planted a Disc Golf course across every fairway. There were multiple occasions where someone had their cart die and they were forced to abandon it on the course. (Mine did not have a problem). Will not be returning.
No golf for you pedro
This place is now catering to frisbee golfers not real golfers. Used to be you had to share the golf course with the frisbeeites roaming randomly across the fairways but the LAST time I went there the golf course was completely closed to golfers for the whole day due to a frisbee tournament. Screw that.
Leaves more to be desired
Cecil field is nice because it’s very laid back, but the course itself is just awful. You will pay a similar price here as you would a much nicer golf course. The staff is nice, but the course needs a lot of work.
