About

Rating 37.5

Firewheel Golf Park boasts a total of 63 championship holes. There are three regulation courses: the Bridges, the Lakes, and the Old Course, which boast enough variety to appeal to a wide range of skill levels from novices to pros. The 27-hole Bridges Course even offers three more 18-hole combinations. The layout is comprised of three different nines: the Masters, the Champions, and the Traditions that can be mixed and matched for a different round every time you play at Firewheel. Throughout the course, golfers will face strategically placed bunkers and there are tall oak and pecan trees all along the sculpted fairways. Spring Creek and Rowlett Creek also weave across the landscape, coming into play on several holes. The Masters is the longest of the three nines at 3,553 yards from the back tees.

This course is a winner

Greens are mostly excellent. A little crabgrass creeping into several greens, but overall great bent grass greens, good fairways and tees. Unforgiving rough, but that's golf. Players are not raking traps.

Good value.

Great Layout

Played Champions/Traditions.....considering recent rains, the course was in great condition and the bent greens were rolling very true. This is a great track and if you haven't played it, you should get out there ASAP!

great shape

This is one of the better or the best public course in Dallas. the fairways are always in great shape and so are the greens. This course is not for the beginner. it has many challenges such as bunkers and water. it does require good shot making.
Just a couple of bad things about this course, slow play and a lot of people ( locales ) consider this their private course, but it is not, it is a public course, in fact it is the best of 3 courses that Freewheel offers. Has a good driving range and GPS on the carts with a club washer. The price for this course is very reasonable, if your over 60 the price is very good. If you like to play golf on a great public course, this is the place for you.

Excellent course & conditions

Nice track with sufficient challenges to keep you concentrating on what you choose to hit. The greens ran well at moderate speed but it looks like a lot of players don't fix their ball marks. One of the better courses in this price range.

Amazing

All I can say is that I will be booking every tee time I can with Golfnow because of the experience I had. I ended up going with my older brother and we had a tight game throughout the whole course. It was fun with a little bit of challenge thrown in. Thank you for the opportunity to play there because with out you, I wouldn't have heard of that place. Best part, it was only a 20 minute drive.

great track

I played the "traditions" course and will definitely be back to play the other two. Course is in great shape and is fair, as in rewarding a good shot and not a bad one.

Great Value

This is one of the best bang for your buck courses I've ever played. It was very well maintained considering it was under water a couple of weeks ago. The flooding washed most of the sand away from the bunkers and they had already refilled them with the nice white sand. The greens were in great shape and fairly soft for this area. The fairways and tee boxes were nice. I enjoyed the layout and would definitely play it again.

Worth playing anytime of the day!!

The greens bite well and the greens roll true. The first layer of rough is thick so keep a close eye on your ball it really disappears. Will play this course again very soon!!!

Dallas golf

We were originally scheduled to play the Bridges course but due to flooding we moved to the Old course. Pro shop guys were very friendly, organized and were doing a good job. We asked to go out early and they had no issue with that and sent us out about 20 minutes early. I found the course to be just ok. Short , really big fairways and wide open. A few houses on some of holes but it's basically hit away and iron to most greens. # 3,9,13and 16 are the highlights of the course .Greens were in good shape although very dry and crusty. I was disappointed with not being able to play The Bridges so I will be back to play it. The old course is a good warmup to that side.

One of the best City courses

Grabbed a last-minute Hot Deal to play that afternoon, paired up with another single, played Tradition and Masters. Course was in great shape tee-to-green, even the bunkers, particularly good with all the rain recently. A few greens were a bit shaggy and slow, but overall a great round.

Great track - tough but precise.

Champions to Masters makes for a great 18. The course is so well marked and the GPS makes it even more accurate when sizing up a shot. And you will need it to stay in play!

No walking policy

I did not play my round as I was informed the Bridges course has a no walking policy. How can you have a golf course with a no walking policy? Makes no sense to me.

Very enjoyable

Played first 9 on Champions and second 9 on Traditions.
Champion greens were recently punched/sanded so approach shots and putts were sketchy, but should be in great shape by end of April if we get as much rain as we're expecting. Fairways and bunkers were in great condition.
Traditions greens were in excellent condition since they were punched sooner. Fairways and bunkers in great condition, too.
Staff was very friendly, as always. Wasn't very crowded at all, probably since it was Masters Saturday afternoon, so pace of play was steady. Never had to wait and had time to hit extra shots or putts without slowing anyone else down.
All around fun track every time, regardless of which two 9s I play.
