Bridges - The Tradition at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
The Bridges at Firewheel Golf Park is a 27-hole layout that has been a regular host of U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifying tournaments. The course is comprised of three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Tradition nine is the shortest of the three at just over 3,200 yards from the back tees. What it lacks in length, it makes up for with the rolling terrain. Golfers will face tricky uneven lies in addition to strategically placed bunkers and towering oak and pecan trees. There are also two creeks that crisscross through the entire golf course. They come into play on several holes. Not only does the Bridges provide three 18-hole courses, there is also Firewheel's original 18-hole Old Course, which was followed soon after by the 18-hole Lakes Course.

Course Great but You Can't Teach Etiquette
I love that they are not gouging us with ridiculously high prices. The course is in much better shape than others in the area, nice an green.
But people need to take the time to learn a few etiquette things, nothing against the course, although perhaps a marshal would help. Rake the bunkers. Repair your pitch marks. Don't just drive into a parallel fairway to get to your wayward shot without checking that it's clear. Allow a 3-some to join your single (you're waiting anyway).
Ok, I'll stop my rant.
Great place!
Excellent experience
Course was a great first time play. Course layout, carts, and all amenities were great. Definitely going back.
Good shape
I played the champions-Master courses. Fairways and greens in good shape with the exception of number 1 on the Masters course. Looks like they lost the green and a temporary green was set up. If you missed the fairway the rough was playable. Some of the tee boxes needed watering, a hammer would have helped me with placing my tee in the ground. I gave it four stars for the pace of play and the overall shape it was in.
Not too shabby
Layout is better than the condition. Greens are sketchy.
Nice Course Close to Home
Always enjoy playing all of the Firewheel courses. Great value and close to home.
Conditions
The front 9 was alright. Greens were a mess. Very patchy. Going over the bridge to the back, you are faced with 2 options. Turn left and play another 9 on nice conditions, or turn right and play the worst track you will ever see in Texas. Tee boxes are like hitting out of a bunker. Fairways are non existent. Middle of the “fairway” is rock and almost zero grass. First cut is muddy, tons of dirt, no grass, and an absolute train wreck. Avoid these 9 holes.
Excellent Course
We played The Champions and Traditions courses today and they were in decent shape for the end of winter, although the greens were not in the greatest shape, a lot of bumps and holes/plugs/ballmarks that need to be repaired. I suspect that in the next month or so they will be in great shape.
Bridges Course needs updating
We played Firewheel because we heard that the course had been renovated. Apparently, that work happened on the Old Course or the Lakes. The Bridges is still pretty rough. Perhaps, Bridges is next on the list. Not a bad layout.
Crab grass on the greens but good sand in the bunkers
Crab grass in the greens made for some inconsistency putting. Bunkers were pretty good to play out of.
Generally poor.
Just not up to par. No staff for 5 minutes at check in, no direction for first time player as to starting hole location or multi course (9’s) layout. Course not in good condition the box’s and greens and overall despite dormant season plenty could have been done to show care that has not been. Inexpensive for a reason and will not play again unfortunately.
