Bridges - The Tradition at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
The Bridges at Firewheel Golf Park is a 27-hole layout that has been a regular host of U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifying tournaments. The course is comprised of three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Tradition nine is the shortest of the three at just over 3,200 yards from the back tees. What it lacks in length, it makes up for with the rolling terrain. Golfers will face tricky uneven lies in addition to strategically placed bunkers and towering oak and pecan trees. There are also two creeks that crisscross through the entire golf course. They come into play on several holes. Not only does the Bridges provide three 18-hole courses, there is also Firewheel's original 18-hole Old Course, which was followed soon after by the 18-hole Lakes Course.

Great golfing
I always enjoy playing the Bridges courses. Fairways & greens were great. Did a twilight round and almost got through all 18. Had to stop at 17 but was well worth it.
Really great greens for a public course
Many of the Frisco/Plano courses have greens in bad shape but we were pleasantly surprised to see Firewheel's greens in great shape. For a holiday, we would have expected to see the cart girl at least once but never saw her, not to mention many of their water jugs were empty.
Keep it going
Nice to see greens and fairways in good shape. Only one bad green and it was makeshift bc of course improvements. Keep up the good work.
Pretty good shape. Great value
Besides the first green being temporary, the greens and the course were in good shape. I like the layout. White tees are like 6000 yards. Shorter par 3s. Over all I’d play here again.
Great condition, but no Marshal
Course is in really good condition given the recent rain, pace of play was horrible though. No starter or marshal present on a busy Saturday to help regulate pace of play. 5 hours for a 2 some, teed off at noon. I will play here again but would advise budgeting for a 5 hour round of golf regardless of group size if playing on the weekend when the weather is nice.
Muddy
Played Master side first and it was extremely muddy, should have been closed. Traditions side was fine.
Course conditions
Driving range and tee boxes were good. The greens were in aweful shape and most of the cart path was covered in mud. I won't play here again.
Greens needs some TLC
Played the Champions course and greens were dead grass and they need to redo the grass! I wish the course would just let us play the Masters or Traditions course!
poor greens and fairways
I've played here a lot over the years and it's always been a favorite. However, the greens and fairways were in horrible condition. My group was disappointed.
Poor Value
Came in town for work and found a last minute twilight tee time. The course was almost unplayable....nearly a third of the holes had significant bare or grass-less areas in and around the landing areas of the fairways. Some areas were just completely dirt that should have been marked GUR. The areas around the green were mostly deadpan, bordering on concrete. The bunkers were poorly kept and the greens were heavily pock-marked with obvious annual bluegrass problems and bare spots. I expected a lot more for a DFW area course, but I guess that's what you get for $40 twilight these days. I won't play here again.
Stay Away From The Traditions Nine
The Traditions 9 is nothing more than several old holes cobbled together from the Lakes course. Played on a Saturday and the 9 holes took 3hours to play … yes, three hours to play nine holes. Greens were recently top dressed with sand so it was like putting thru sand traps. Most of the bunkers were unplayable. Also played the Champions 9 . it was enjoyable with several well placed but hidden ponds to steal your golf ball. Never saw a Marshall all day.
