Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Great Course - Spectacular price
Course in great shape despite 3-4 inches rain 2 days earlier
Played 18 holes w/cart for $5.66
38 degrees is not optimal for golf!
We played at 8:45 am and the temperature was 37. It was not ideal but the course was wide open. Ha! It eventually warmed up to 54. The course was in good shape for the winter. We flew around the course. I love playing this course! If you get a chance play yourself a frosty round.
Always a fun course
This course offers all types of situations. Fun to play and it doesn’t hurt that the weather was great. Did have a frost delay so our tee time was pushed out about 30 - 45 minutes. They could’ve warned us beforehand so we didn’t show up an hour before our tee time. Other than that, had a great time and will certainly be back.
Firewheel Bridges
The greens are in really good shape! Love to putt on Bent Grass!
Slow play
I had a 12:53 pm tee time and was set up as a single. i am there early so i see about playing ahead of a 4 some. I get to the first tee at 12:30pm and there is a group of 27 guys. An elder gentleman says that this is a weekly game and that i might want to skip past there group and then return to play that hole. Turns out i had to go to hole 4 before i was able to tee off. I caught a 3 some on the par 3 5th. they had already hit so they waved me thru. i was on in one and got par and teed off the next whole. i had two holes that i was able to play thru alone. I then ran into a back to back groups of 4 somes of women that apparently had went off on a shotgun; so until 12 was it was brutal. i had to go back and play the first 3 holes after my round
Windy Day
It was a beautiful day and the senior tournament ran long so it was backed up over 30 minutes so we would have never finished before dark. The pro shop let us go off on the Traditions instead and we played it twice and finished in 3 hours. Kudos to them. Course was in great shape for late November, Greens were soft which I like, but the wind was brutal. We were all lucky to break 90 in those conditions.
Nice track
Very nice track, great pace of play. Currently the greens are a little bumpy due to recent punching but that should go away soon.
Took 4hrs 30 mins for our 4-some to play. It was slow for the front 9-holes. Opened up for the back 9.
Wonder why no beverage carts on the course on a nice day. Cart girls could have made some easy money.
Couse was in good shape despite the leaves. We were told they are getting ready to aerate the greens.
The course was in in good shape despite the rain from Saturday night.
Nice Facility and courses
Nice course, I got to play the Champions & the Masters courses. Both were in excellent condition and recommend this as a place to play some good golf.
The course was challenging & fun to play. the pace of play was slow. There was no cart girls on front or back nine!! That was extremely disappointing. The pro shop did not inform us. Be sure to ask before starting your round.
Great local course
My favorite of the Firewheel courses, there are 3 9 hole courses, so you get a different 18 each time (The Master is my favorite). Layout is interesting, not a ton of carries, but plenty of dog-legs and risk-reward shots. Rough it pretty thick, but the fairway is nice. Staff is always great and the practice facilities are top notch.
Nice course
First time to play here. Really hot day and that kept some inside. Greens need some attention. Too many muni players don't respect the course enough to repair ball marks. Too bad. Overall a fairly easy course for beginners to intermediate players. Good value for the money. I will play it again.
