Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Bridges Champions/Masters
Course is in great shape! Greens (Bent grass) are handling the heat well. They are watering the greens during the round. Pace of play was great, we played in 4 hrs on a Sunday with a 11:40 tee time!
Nice course
By far the best course of the 3 Firewheel courses. Fairways and greens were very good this 2nd week of June. Pace of play was exactly 4:15 on Sunday morning. I really like this course.
Really Enjoyed this Course
I really enjoyed my round here. The course was in great shape and pace of play was good. The staff was extremely friendly.
Good shape overall
Played the Champion/Masters nines. Champion is fun and straightforward, Masters is a bit more quirky. Both had great Bentgrass greens, solid fairways, and putrid bunkers. Lots of carpet showing in most bunkers. A good mix of wide open holes and strategic, tight ones. Pace was pretty good on a Sunday mid-day round. Lots of water stations on the course and we saw the cart girl 4 times. This course is enjoyable when pace is good and greens are in decent shape (it was). There was one cart bridge that had a board missing and course may want to check out.
All in all a nice round of golf on a good course. Played with two gentlemen that had some game so we played the back tees. Nice to hit driver on almost every hole.
Great place to play.
You can never go wrong at any if the 3 Bridges courses. Greens and bunkers are always in goid shape. All 3 courses are challenging layouts.
Beat value and experience in Dallas area.
Good value
The course was in great shape.
Pace of play was okay for a Saturday. 4-1/2 hours.
Great experience
I've played the Bridges before but they have obviously embraced their brand. Richard Cosbie in the golf shop is a living legend who guided me through the whole experience. If you want a rare opportunity to play top notch bent grass greens within a story book bedroom community then The Bridges is your destination. I'll be looking for my next opportunity on GolfNow.
Please Don't Punch Me
You'll like this course. I prefer playing the Champions and the Masters. Right now, the fairways are running fast. Bunkers are well maintained. The greens have been punched recently, but are still pretty hard and don't receive a good approach very well. So, so plan on an extra amount of roll out. This course is not too tight or too long for us duffers. Lots of fun.
Nice day
Course was in good shape but greens had been recently punched so they were bumpy and slow. Otherwise great day.
Always in good shape
Great layout, fun, challenging and a good deal with GolfNow. The greens were aerated a few days before we played, but they still rolled very well.
