Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

No cart girl
No cart girl, poor condition overall. Water station worn out.
This course offers everything a major country club offer.
This course is ALWAYS in great conditions. One of few daily fee courses that offers bent grass greens. The food is good. Its a must play for all avid golfers.
Very nice
Very nice course. There are a couple of tight fairways but other than that the greens are in great shape as well as the fairways.
We finished around 8 and the bar was closed so we couldn't have an after round drink on the patio like we have been at other locations. Other than that, great course.
Firewheel June 11,2017
Found the course in great shape. Greens well tended but hard to read. Fairways filled in and easy to hit from. Best I have seen in years.
Had 11 tee time and got off right on time. Pace of play a bit slow (4 hours 15 minutes) but I think the wind (15-20 gusts ) had something to do with that.
Well worth the 35 minute drive from Flower Mound. Will go back.
Great Conditioning
Bent grass greens were in great shape. The fairways were also in great shape. The course was running firm and fast. Although a challenging course, I felt the playing corridors provided enough room to hit driver often. Played 18 holes in 2:55 minutes. In summary, one of the better courses in the DFW area when you consider course playability and conditions.
What Wind?!
In spite of 35 mile an hour gusts, this course was worth the effort and the money. Greens were great!
Fairways had very few tight lies. The only real complaint is that the fabric liner of the bunkers was barely covered with sand in some of the bunkers. Ask me how I know. The tee boxes were in really good shape. On Champions, #7 par 3, king is wet, and so is right. The Master's 9 was in equally as good condition. Get out to Firewheel before it gets hot!
Great conditions
Perfect bentgrass greens, good green surrounds, tight but good fairways. The Masters 9 is a little quirky but still a challenge. Very windy made it nearly impossible to hold a ball on the greens downwind. Great course, especially if you get it for $25 like I did. Very much a parkland course as you play through the trees and around the creeks and wetlands. Easy access from PGBT helps the appeal, but also helps make it crowded at times.
The Bridges at Firewheel
This Course has 3 sets of 9 holes: Masters, Champion and Tradition. This review is for Champion and Tradition. The Champion course is fairly straight forward with its placement of bunkers and water hazards. The greens and fairways are currently in great shape. The Tradition has houses on almost every hole. For the most part they are back far enough that it should not make a difference. Placement of shots is key on this 9. Number 7 has a blind second shot as well as number 9 having and elevated green over water. Again the greens and fairways are in great shape. Will play here again.
The Bridges
This course is in great shape. The GREENS ARE EXCELLENT.
With so many DFW golf courses with terrible greens that should be shut down, it was great to play a real golf course.
Will definitely return.
Bridges... Nice Track
My first time to play the Bridges and it was Great! course was in great shape and pace of play was awesome... Ill be back ...
Good Layout. Very tight lies.
This is a very nice golf course. The layout is good the greens were very good. The lies are very tight though so you need to be ready to play with tight lies. The sand was very soft which made sense shots very inconsistent. It is a tough course to play the first time but with a little course knowledge
Very unsatisfied
Play this course quiet often but today was a joke. Greens were like putting on a beach and fairways had very little grass. Guy blowing sand went by on Gator and blew grass all over my wife that was sitting in cart. If they are not going to take care of course then they need to go down on green fees.
Round with my son-in-law
Overall good. Greens above average shape. Fairways and tee boxes a little bare but playable.
