On the road to recovery
Brookside 2 (NAY) is the little brother of Koiner. I guess a course that is longer and has a tad higher slope rating will always seem preferable. But that said, I've always found Nay to be as well kept a course as Koiner in terms of the condition of fairways, greens and bunkers. And the course is not a slouch... the small mounded greens on Nay can be tough to hit, and the slope of some of the putting surfaces is pretty challenging. Distance is less of a demand than accuracy on most holes, but you'll need to make shots to score.
The use of the course for parking for football games and concerts obviously scares a lot of people off, and for good reason. I've been at this course in the past where the fairways were pretty mucked up and many greens were damaged. However, that was not the case 7/31/26. There were some dirt patches here and there, but for the most part the fairways were in good shape and the greens were actually very good.
Wonderful Day
We had a great day. The weather was perfect the pace was perfect. The fairways were in great condition and the greens were immaculate . I’m calling it a good morning.
Enjoyed the course
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape on both courses. It is very popular so it’s a little slow on the weekend. But I would value this course at a higher rating than three stars.
Need a marshal
We played in a good pace until 8th hole. At 9th hole, the party in front of us might switch with the party in front of them. Pace of the play was the problem? I don’t know. But since then, we found the new party in front of us was slow players and at 13th hole, we found they are two holes behind. I should have talk to them about the pace of their play, but they were four big guys and didn’t want to have any trouble so I called the course to send the marshal. Nothing happened until 18th hole and some people played behind us gave up to play and went home. 5 over hour play is not happy.
The reviews were right
It's been nearly 10 years since I last played here. And sadly, the reviews of this course having terrible conditions are true. This course has been severely neglected and it shows. from the bumpy hard fairways to huge swaths of fairway that is not just dirt. I won't be playing here again any time soon.
