Brookside Golf Club - E.O. Nay Course

GOOD

-Started on time

-layout of holes

-Weather was fantastic

-Restaurant

-Greens were fast and challenging

BAD

-No golf range available (due to Rose Bowl game)

-No putting green available

-Pace of play (Single player ahead of our foursome)

-Rough had lots of debris

-No food/beverage cart

UGLY

-Most Fairways were pummeled by the obvious parking lot the city converted them into.

-Parking lot closest to the check-in area was unavailable. No handicap spaces.

-Carts were not allowed into parking lot.

-Paid $75 for a course that was in the condition of a $25 executive course next door to an airport. One of my worst experiences ever.

Fairway conditions are inconsistent and suffer from use as parking for Rose Bowl during college football season (Sept-Dec). Greens were in good shape but very firm (approach shots, chips and putts above the hole were very hard to control. Bunker sand depth wa inconsistent.

Fairways will need a couple of months (Jan-Feb) to recover from parking damage.

II have been playing at Brookside for over 20 years, and these were the worst course conditions I have ever encountered. The fairways and areas around the greens had multiple dry spots. Additionally, the bunkers around the greens were hard and dry.

No alert when booking the course that most of the fairways were aerated and greens had been punched maybe a month ago and were bumpier than the 101.

We were making good pace starting at 610 am on a Fri, until groups started teeing off on the 7th hole, apparently they have a back 12 deal which slowed our whole round to snails pace. Should have finished in 3:30 and up taking us 4:30.

Not worth it for $60+

Consistent facility and well organized .. when it's not too hot it's a nice round... Would recommend some ball washers and more on course drinking water...
