Slow pace, Good par 3
I really like this 18 hole par 3. It’s affordable and has a shady spots along the course and a proper turn at 9. My only major gripe is the super slow pace of play and players playing multiple balls each. There is no Marshall to Check on this and it seems to be getting worse and worse. They need to spread out the tee times more and allow fewer golfers per day or enforce the pace of play rule.
A Hidden Gem, But Challenging!
Arroyo Seco is without a doubt one of my very favorite courses to play in the area. Yes, it's a par 3, but I can guarantee it's in better shape, and more fun to play, than probably any other par 3 you've seen. The tee boxes are all mats, but that's ok. The fairways are well kept, the greens are immaculate and challenging (more on that later), there are plenty of mature trees around the course for generous amounts of shade, while still allowing plenty of room for good golf shots. There's a tiny little creek and a very small pond on the course, but I wouldn't even call them hazards. The course has zero bunkers.
Couple of tips based on having played here at least 15 or 20 times so far. First, bring some of the re-usable golf matt flat tees. You can buy them at the pro shop or online for not much. Second, although it is a par 3, there's a 145-yard hole on the back 9, and a few in the 125-135 yard range, so manage your club selection accordingly. If you want to bring your full bag, they have push carts available for minimal rental fee. Lastly, as mentioned before, the greens themselves are UNUSUALLY challenging. They have a lot of terrain, and the pin placement is typically on the cruel side. If there's a major roll-off point on the green, you can count on the pin being right there at the edge. So study the topography well before you take your shot for the green.
Lastly, there's a wonderful putting green, an excellent full-sized driving range that has lighting in the evening hours, and a pro shop that sells a reasonable assortment of balls, gloves, tees, green repair tools, and drinks. And the prices are darned reasonable. Arroyo Seco is a gem.
Best Option for a Quick Par 3
Great place to practice your short game. JJ Spaun learned his short game here lol. Staff is all extremely nice. Course is in good-great condition as always. Driving range is decent as well
Starter takes his job a bit too seriously
Played there a bunch over the years, never had any issues with going out as a fivesome
Starter split us up, wouldn’t budge on the rules
We were all good golfers and always keep up to the players ahead of us and it wasn’t even crowded……the whole experience was disappointing
Decent Par 3 Course
If you're looking to work on your short game, this is a good course.
Can new cheap, good for short game.
This facility has been in need of a renovation for years. The bathroom is downright gross. I come here only because it’s close and only if there is a Hot Deal. The greens are small and the course isn’t long, so I use it to work on my short game.
Upgrades
Came here for night golf. They need to invest in lightning up these tee boxes and some greens. Not worth what they charge to not be able to see the ball on a mat. Need a cell phone light. Invest in the golf course please.
Quick round
This is the course that started it all for me, been playing here for over 20 years, and not much has changed. Conditions were ok, some areas around the green look like someone peeled out on their lawn mower. Greens are very soft, with some being a little tricky due to their undulation. A lot of seniors, and beginners play here. I was stuck behind 2 guy and had to wait every hole, so I grabbed a beer at the turn and enjoyed the day. As far as pace goes, I’ve finished 18 in an hour before, today it took 2 1/2 hours. All in all I like to come here to work on my short game, the range is ok, but kinda pricey for me, but they do have a nice chipping area. If you have little ones there is also a 9 hole mini golf.
Great course to get your feet wet.
Awesome place if you are just starting to play the great sport of golf.
