Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

First time
Played for the first time, the course was nice and very interesting. The greens have been sanded to get ready for next year so putting is a joke. We had to play in-between a tournament so play was very slow. Even with this, I will play next year just to see how nice the greens will be.
Nice course with a nice price
Course has a nice layout and quick true greens. The front nine is a bit noisy being mostly by a fairly busy road. The back nine is quieter and has more character to it (not that the front nine is boring). I played right after they aerated the tees and they were a bit rough but you use a tee anyway so not a big deal. Looked like they cross cut the greens recently so they weren't "pristine" but they still putted true.
Course in good condition
The course was in good condition.
Staff was excellent.
Great price on GolfNow.
Great course SLOW play
Played in 5 hours tee times to close together, waited on every shot
New Owners really making Good changes
It has been a couple years since playing Windy Knoll. Let tell you first hand, the new owners/management are doing tremendous things. Course - great shape!
Practice facilities-great shape!. Restaurant- ALL NEW and bigger. New menu with good food!!
Good course with fun layout
My friend had hold me that this was his favorite course so I had to play it. Course was in great condition. Greens were very quick and quite difficult. One of the nicer courses I've played. Wish it was closer to Dayton.
Best course in Springfield
Nice course, but it always takes a long time to get through a round.
Great Course
I have played many courses through the years in many regions of the country. The layout of the course, quality of the facilities and theme are great. Because of multiple tee boxes the course is playable by any skill level. My handicap is a +0.4 and I shot 73 from the back tee boxes.
Great Course in Best Shape I have seen in many years
Always enjoyed the layout of the golf course, really like that they flipped the nines. I Used to avoid this course in the summer months because it was usually very very firm, almost to the point of greens being unplayable. That was not the case today. Course was in excellent shape, not surprising given the weather we have had. The greens were the best I have ever seen them at Windy Knoll, rolling true, sticking and spinning with short irons/wedges. Pro shop employees seemed a little flustered and rushed, but were still friendly and courteous. Did have a slight issue with a Ranger telling us (3 walkers) to speed up when we played in 2 hours each 9 holes, and other 2 golfers were first timers at course. Will be back very soon.
Windy Knoll
Great shape great value. Several character holes including a drivable par 4. Good fun.
Nice grass
This is the best course in our area. It's beautiful very well kept and challenging. I especially liked the tight cut fairways in front of the Greens. I was able to make a couple of those long off the green lag putts I usually only see on TV. I don't like flat courses with paths cut through the trees and this course is just the opposite of that. It's more open and more about the hills, water and bunkers.
A Great Course to Play
Paid for 18 holes, got in 9 due to pace of play (Got a rain check for 9). Followed a foursome who had a foursome ahead of them, but didn't way me thru until the 9th hole, which I passed on (It was the last dam hole). I was even par thru 9 on a fairly windy day, so Yes I love this course, but it is such a great course on its own. The staff were great checking me in and giving me a rain check to which I'll come back for 18 holes. Go Play it!
New favorite course
Very nice course. Greens were faster than I was used to, but willing to learn.
Great value and definitely presents challenges and can bite you very quickly.
Pace of play was just over 3 hours. I like playing without waits, but for some reason I felt like we were running. Not sure why. We were not being pushed.
Definitely worth the drive from Beavercreek and I will be back!
Great course design, challenging but fair.
We had a great time, the course was in good shape and the staff was so friendly they made it a pleasure. This course is challenging but fairly open so you have great opportunities to recover from unlucky shots. It is well worth the trip to Springfield if you have not played the course before I would reccomend you give it a try.
Great Course
Course was in great shape, friendly management, enjoyable day, but a tad windy.
Windy Knoll
Staff extremely friendly. Course was in super great condition, bunkers a a bit damp and hard (to be expected with the recent amount of rain). Playing smart will give you many scoring opportunities. For the price it is in the top three of courses to play in the Dayton area. Also, want thank my playing partners, two wonderful local ladies for a truly enjoyable round of golf. Thank you ( A & L )
One of the Top Courses in the area
We play all of the better public courses in the Dayton area. And they have turned this course into one of the tops. Well worth the short drive from Dayton and the surrounding suburbs.
Greatly improved!
I played this course two years ago and it was in very poor condition. There was obvious neglect of the course and facilities. Crabgrass was abundant and was encroaching the fringes around the greens.
The new ownership group has done an outstanding job in improving the conditions of the course. There were no unplayable lies or ground under repair like I had found before. The fairways, rough and greens were all in excellent condition.
This is a fun course with great challenges from the tips or even playing up further. It is the best course in the area and provides an excellent value.
