Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Great day for Father day
Got to play on a very nice course that is close by on Fathers Day.
Best play around the Dayton area
Was a little unsure driving to Springfield to play but the reviews were good so we took a chance. Wise choice as this course was a beautiful links course that just played great. The greens were fast and I wasn't used to that but they are the way they should be. The staff is really friendly and helpful. We got out a few minutes early and was never pushed the whole morning. I would definitely play here again if ever in the area!
Great Course
Course has a great layout and conditions are really good! We had a problem with our cart and the staff was right on it and brought us a different one within one hole! Would definitely play here again!
Windy Knoll
Good course. Friendly staff. Great shape. Great place to play between Dayton and Columbus. Would recommend it highly!
Great day in the links !!!
Windy Knoll is a beautiful links style course. The course is in great condition for this early in the year. The sand traps were all raked and in good condition ( unfortunately I was in them more than I wanted to be). The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The rate of play was very good. It has a nice facility if you care for a beverage or food after your game.
76 and Sunny
It was a beautiful day for golf. Staff was really helpful and friendly. Greens have been aerated so they were inconsistent and bumpy. Fairways had little patches of different types of grass. Overall it was a good day. I would give it four stars. Windy Knoll has spent a lot of money upgrading their facilities in the last few years. And they continue to do so.
Balls flying everywhere
The course was good, however we teed off 30 minutes late and almost got hit on the 2nd by a group that didn't yell 4. And to finish the day, someone hit a ball into the parking lot trying as a joke.
The course was good, the golfers need a lesson on good etiquette
Improved
This course is continually improving. They have recently taken out some fencing and cut back some tall grass making it easier to find your ball thus speeding up play. Greens were in good shape for early in the season.
Course was in good shape for November in Ohio
The rough was just areated so you had to brush away the plugs. This should be great for the conditions next spring. Greens were top dressed also should help for the spring. Overall the round was enjoyable and we will be back. Again great for November in Ohio.
Nice greens
Would have been nice is they had an airation alert it was like putting on a beach!
First time
Played for the first time, the course was nice and very interesting. The greens have been sanded to get ready for next year so putting is a joke. We had to play in-between a tournament so play was very slow. Even with this, I will play next year just to see how nice the greens will be.
Nice course with a nice price
Course has a nice layout and quick true greens. The front nine is a bit noisy being mostly by a fairly busy road. The back nine is quieter and has more character to it (not that the front nine is boring). I played right after they aerated the tees and they were a bit rough but you use a tee anyway so not a big deal. Looked like they cross cut the greens recently so they weren't "pristine" but they still putted true.
Course in good condition
The course was in good condition.
Staff was excellent.
Great price on GolfNow.
Great course SLOW play
Played in 5 hours tee times to close together, waited on every shot
New Owners really making Good changes
It has been a couple years since playing Windy Knoll. Let tell you first hand, the new owners/management are doing tremendous things. Course - great shape!
Practice facilities-great shape!. Restaurant- ALL NEW and bigger. New menu with good food!!
Good course with fun layout
My friend had hold me that this was his favorite course so I had to play it. Course was in great condition. Greens were very quick and quite difficult. One of the nicer courses I've played. Wish it was closer to Dayton.
Best course in Springfield
Nice course, but it always takes a long time to get through a round.
Great Course
I have played many courses through the years in many regions of the country. The layout of the course, quality of the facilities and theme are great. Because of multiple tee boxes the course is playable by any skill level. My handicap is a +0.4 and I shot 73 from the back tee boxes.
Great Course in Best Shape I have seen in many years
Always enjoyed the layout of the golf course, really like that they flipped the nines. I Used to avoid this course in the summer months because it was usually very very firm, almost to the point of greens being unplayable. That was not the case today. Course was in excellent shape, not surprising given the weather we have had. The greens were the best I have ever seen them at Windy Knoll, rolling true, sticking and spinning with short irons/wedges. Pro shop employees seemed a little flustered and rushed, but were still friendly and courteous. Did have a slight issue with a Ranger telling us (3 walkers) to speed up when we played in 2 hours each 9 holes, and other 2 golfers were first timers at course. Will be back very soon.
