About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Great Time
First time playing the course.Tees and greens were better than most I had played this year. Greens were very nice and I thought they rolled true. Had fun and would like to play again. Overall well maintained course.
overated
For the money it's an average course. Very slow on weekends. Normal to see carts lined up at 1st tee box.
5 and 1/2 hours to play is normal also. Some staff are great. Cocerns are usually ignored.
This course has greens that are hard and fast.
Very nice course. Challenging with water on many of the holes and the greens are hard and fast. The course is in great shape and has the look and feel of a private course. It is very well maintained with all the amenities of a private club. I would highly recommend playing this course it is a great value for the money spent. In addition, the restaurant is a great place for an after round of food and drink. Very pleasant.
Back to windy knolls
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to return here for a round of golf with an old friend! The staff were great. Very helpful. The course was excellent. Pin placements extremely challenging. Birdie putts hard to come by, even harder to make! Overall, this had been a truly rewarding day on a real gem of a course.
Very well maintained course
The course was in great shape. It was a fun challenging track. However I had a bad experience with a staff member and I will not return for this reason. I wouldn't play this course again for free. I drove an hour, and paid almost double what I would at my normal course. I don't expect any special service, but when an employee talks down to me like I'm their child.... My hard earned time and money will be spent at ANY competitors course.
Aways worth the Drive
Live in the Columbus area and every year I head to Springfield to play Windy Knoll. Love the layout, fairways and greens are in great shape. Staff is very nice and you can't beat the price for a great course. Always walk the course and always tee off very early.
Nice Course
Excellent course and in good condition. Beautiful links layout.
The layout is very good
The problem with the course is that the greens are rock hard. You cannot hold an approach shot and a putt will not stop
Great course
Course was in fabulous shape, even in March. Staff was friendly, even though a morning frost delayed tee times by over a half hour.
great place to play
challenges from every tee box
greens roll well small aeration holes
friendly staff
Great course
This is the first year I have played Windy Knoll and I enjoyed so much that I have played it three times this year. The course and facilities are well maintained with challenges for golfers of any handicap. I will play the course again.
In Great Shape
Drove up from Cincinnati, played on a Sunday at 12:30pm. Pace of play was quick, greens and fairways in very good shape. Saw staff sanding divots on tee boxes, when we came up he was very nice and waited for us to hit our tee shots.
Columbus golfers
Windy Knoll is a little more than an hour's drive from my home in north Columbus. It's worth the trip. The closet comparison a Columbus course is the front nine of Player"s Club at Foxfire. I enjoy this course much better, The greens are very large with much undulation. If you can get a deal on Golfnow I would highly recommend this track
Nice track
Great condition, great price. Course is playable but has plenty of trouble if you don't keep it straight. Greens are challenging with lots of undulations. Definitely worth the drive from Dayton
Great Course
Course is in great shape from tee to green..
Only issue is the pace of play.
They over book the course. Had to wait at every hit!
Too many people on the course.
Great
Course is in awesome shape, greens run true beautiful fairways.
VERY NICE PUBLIC COURSE
Way better then expected for the price. Beautiful course. Has some challenging holes.
