Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Great course
Tee off's were every 5 minutes up to 8:30 am, had course backed up thru whole 18 holes, waiting up to 15 minutes to take shots.
First time playing there
Played windy knoll for the first time with some friends that play there often. Great course, very well taken care of. I will play there again.
Great course
The improvements at course are fantastic. Greens reacted well with bite and elimination of natural areas speed play.
Windy Knoll
First time playing the course and it was very fun. Lots of open shots, but lots of water. Greens were in the best condition of any course I've played at all year.
The name says it all. "Windy Knoll"
This course was fun. There was wind on every hole and it would stop and go and come from different directions, a true test for the average golfer. Pace of play was terrible. The starter was telling us to pick it up, but only to hit a two twosome in front of us followed by a single who was spraying them everywhere. At the turn i went into the restaurant for a pop and hotdog, and my bill was $7.25. (INSANE).. Overall the course was in great shape, i can't complain about that. Book a tee time on golf now for the best rates, my buddy and I played for $16 a each.
Nice Challenge
Very nice course.....It is developing nicely into one of the area's finest....normally you must use every club in your bag !! Plenty of Tee'Boxes to suit your play.....Staff is great !!
Even better than expected
This is a young maturing course and some minor things are being worked out. Played this course on Easter and it was the best conditioned course I have played all spring. Bent grass fairways and tees were nice. Lots of water makes for a challenge. Greens were large and fast. Plenty of undulation makes putting an artful adventure. Can't wait to play again. Bar and grill was being remodeled, so conditions there were pretty spare. Very friendly staff.
WINDY KNOOL
Course was in very good condition. Played in less than 4 hours.
No yardage markers
The course was in good shape. Greens were consistent and fast. Probably the best greens in my area. Only complaints are there were hardly no yardage markers anywhere on the course and the flag sticks were the shortest I've ever seen. But guessing on yardages all day was very frustrating and demoralizing.
First Trip Through Windy Knoll
Really enjoyed the course, greens rolled great for early in the season, no problem getting paired up as a single. Staff was very friendly and wanted to know how I liked the course and what i thought of everything. They get 5 stars for pace of play only because we were the first group out therefore no one in front of us but it didn't seem to be a problem for any of the foursome behind us.
perfect for the money
this course is in very good shape and probably wouldn't play it if it wasn't for the deal I got on this web site, very expensive course.
Okay for the price
Got a good price on golfnow for 18, because the were aerating the greens. They had the front 9 closed
And were making everyone play the back 9 twice. I asked if I could get a rain check for the front 9 instead of playing the back 2x, but they were insistent in not giving a rain check. I ran into the same situation with Snyder park when they were aerating and they had the front 9 closed, but with them, when I asked for a rain check, they said "Sure, no problem!" Nevertheless, I've been back to Snyder multiple times since then because of the friendliness of their staff.
One of the best shorter courses around.
This course is somewhat short but challenging. It is full of rolling hills, turns and water. This course is well maintained and really fun! 18 holes can be played in less than 4 hours as long as you can keep your ball on the fairway and there is no one in front of you.
Great value for the money
Greens and tee boxes beautiful, fairways just aerated but totally playable. Loved it.
Recommend you play the course if you haven't already.
The course was in good condition given the lack of rain in the area. Greens were a little slower than the last time I played here. Overall, the course is a fun course to play and I would recommend you play the course.
Getting Better
This course has changed since I have played it last. They swapped the front to the back and back to the front 9, whcih is fine with me. It was being maintained while we were there, our tee time was 10:00, and by the time we hit the turn, there was still mowers out. It looks as though the course is nicer than the last time I played. Fairways were really nice, rough was kept trimmed, greens were as fast as usual. The only problem I have is with the loud obnoxious hovercart, which got stuck while we were there and it took a couple of guys to help get it out, which I thought was pretty funny.
Challenging Course in Excellent Condition
I drove about an hour to play Windy Knoll and it was worth it. It is a Brian Huntley design. I have played several other of his courses. This one is a solid challenge with water, sand and hills to protect the par 71 that plays 6800+ from the tips. It has five excellent par 3s, with 3 playing at least 180 from the grey tees at 6400 yards. There is a good mixture of par 4s, 5 over 400 years and one that is about 280. There are four good par 5s, I found number 12 particularly difficult and birdied 9.
The course is in excellent condition. The bunkers are well maintained, the fairways and rough are in very good condition and the greens roll very well and are true.
Great course! Super friendly staff!!
Have never left a review before, however had such a great experience felt compelled to. Have played some of the top rated courses in Ohio and this ranks near the top. The course was in great shape with a nice layout for links-style which i am not normally a big fan of. Wide fairways which are immaculate and has large greens that roll true. Rough was very nice as well. Had a great time and will definitely play again.
A long day on the Links
Course very crowded..seemed like 3 deep on every hole.
Overbooked.SLOW SLOW SLOW play.
Greens putted strangely... ...they had faint layer of sand on them. Couldn't get putts to "roll".
Course otherwise in good shape especially considering the recent weather.
Beautiful course
I would play here again anytime.... It was well maintained and the greens were perfect .
