Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Great greens
Excellent day some very challenging holes. Treated very friendly. Greens were very fast and difficult to read. All things considered it was a very good experience.
Nicest Course I've played this year! HIGHLY Recommend!
This was the nicest course I've played all year. The new owners have the course in immaculate condition. Pretty cool that they are the first course in the country to have the Hover Craft Golf Carts available as well(think there are only 2 though). If you've never played this course, I HIGHLY recommend playing it. One of the best courses in the area and a fantastic value!!
Played like a links course - pretty firm and breezy
They removed some of the ridiculous tall grass on knolls between fairways. I like electric carts! Visually challenging, but there is space to hit the ball into wide parts of fairways.
Nice layout
One of the nicest courses I have played this year. Large greens, about average speed...not too fast, bent grass fairways & tees. Played with another guy. We were waiting on front 9 behind 3 some. Played thru them on back & finished in 3:05.
Course was great, challenging, and quite enjoyable.
We played on a Monday morning, showed up early enough to hit a couple of range balls but the range is not open on Monday mornings. But not a problem, Was allowed to start the back nine early and slipped in on the front nine, Quite enjoyable and will play again! Fairways, Tee Boxes, and Greens were in great shape. great value!
Go play this course
Went as part of a 4-some. All had played it before but myself. I have played around 20 different courses this year and if this isn't my new favorite, its near the top. Started off with super nice guy at the clubhouse, who actually didn't have our tee time for some reason but got us off 5 min past our original time which was fine as it gave us time to stop down at the bar. Play was a little slow as we were behind a slow 2 some, but we didn't care. I was very impressed with the course overall. Hard, but not so hard you get overly frustrated if you are not hitting them good that day. I made the comment mid-round that "I could play this course every week." If it wasn't an hour and a half from my house I just might. As far as my experience goes, they are doing things right, and I didn't play well at all. Can't wait to go back soon.
Country Club atmosphere at a public course price.
I have played this course in the past and thought it had the potential to be one of the great courses in the area. At the time the staff was dismissive and the course was somewhat overgrown and not well managed. I decided to give it a shot after hearing great things from other guys in the area, then I saw a mid week hot deal. To my surprise, it was a completely different place. The guys in the clubhouse were very friendly, the started chatted us up for a few minutes, to distract us from the wait at the first tee, and the course was in great shape. Greens were smooth and fast. Fairways were freshly cut and the bunkers were raked (i was in quite a few of them) The course is well worth the daily fee with no discount but if you can find a deal on this website, you will feel like you have gotten a real bang for your buck!
Great Course, Great Value
This course was in awesome condition. The greens rolled true at a good pace. Not as fast as they could be but this IS a public course. Pace of play was good given that the course was pretty crowded. Have played in under 4 hours many times here. The layout is challenging and there are several sets of tees to fit just about any level of golfer. The fairways are well maintained as are the tee boxes. In my opinion, this is best public course in the Springfield area. The horse statues and other remnants from the horse farm days make for some interesting scenery as well.
Good course
Good course. Challenging but not too difficult for the average golfer!
In great shape!
The greens rolled true and were very receptive. The traps were perfect. I have played this course in the past, and it by far was in the best condition that i have ever played it.
Great layout and wonderfully conditioned course
It was always a good layout but they have cleaned up the course to make it more playable. It is in excellent condition and greens are spectacular.
Great links course
Great links course found in my old home town. Starting with the staff which were very friendly the the course was in great condition and was a challenging track. Greens were rolling very nice and were well taken care of. When I come back I will play here again
If you have never played this course treat yourself.
This course is a great place to play with challenges for all level of golfers. With a golf now deal there is no reason not to go and play this golf course.
Course has character
Course in great condition greens & fairways very good
Excellent and challenging course
Very friendly staff and the course was in very good shape. Last time I played here, there was a gravel parking lot.... they have since asphalted and really gave the place a facelift. From the pro-shop to the grill, everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Greens were fast and rolled true......... I'll be back.
Very Well Maintained
Went there to play with my buddy on the 4th of July. Not only were we able to find a great deal to ride 18 holes during the afternoon, but the course was in perfect shape. I've played there several times and this was the best condition I have ever seen it in, and I only see it going up from here. The new owner is definitely making a concerned effort to make this place a destination. The greens were immaculate, the bunkers were the nicest I have seen in the Miami Valley, and the everything was very well maintained. Staff was very accommodating. Definitely going back soon. Not a pushover either. I'm a 3 handicap and had difficulty breaking 80.
The course has great challenging features
This course will challenge every skill player. The course has water on holes and sand bunkers that are strategically placed. The greens and fairways are well manicured.
The layout is excellent.
There appeared to be a twosome allowed out between our group of four and the foursome in front of us. This made our pace of play somewhat slow for most of the round. Otherwise it was a good day.
Great track - friendly staff.
Course is well maintained. Well organized staff, friendly service from Clubhouse to 19th hole. Kudos to service in the bar after rain delay. Will definitely be back to play this one a second time!
Course was in good shape.
You could tell they normally take care of their bunkers which I see as a major problem on a lot of courses. It had rained hard the night before we played so we lifted then ball and raked and then replaced in the bunker. The course lay out is very nice with several different types of holes. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were all in good shape.
