Clover Valley Golf Club

About
Surrounded by dense woodlands, Clover Valley Golf Club has a secluded parkland setting that also allows for some links-style holes. The course is relatively young but it has a much older feel to it. The versatile layout has an interesting mix of holes that appeals to a variety of different tastes and abilities. There are also four sets of tees that make it even more accommodating to a range of skill levels. The layout features gently rolling fairways that are lined with trees. They are rather generously sized though, which makes them more player-friendly. The medium-sized greens are also approachable with only slight undulations. There are several lakes as well as a creek that come into play on several holes. In addition to the golf course, Clover Valley also offers extensive practice facilities including a driving range with target greens, a large putting green, and a chipping area with greenside bunkers.

Starter very rude
Showed up before my tee time and the starter was still very rude as my partner and I got partner was paired up with another 2 sum, which was fine. The issue is that the starter was trying to rush me and partner to play because there was 2 other 4 sum’s behind us (keep in mind my tee time was 5:33pm). Overall he was telling us we had to skip hole 1 and play the other 8 to help out the other 4 sums which really just irrritated me. The starter then proceeded to say he wasn’t trying to be rude, but still had an attitude and rude tone which I didn’t appreciate. Didn’t get any refund for hole 1 we didn’t even get to play. Will not be coming back. I pay my money just like everyone else.
Nice Course but has some issues currently
I have played here a handful of times over the years and I love the layout out in the country. I live down the road now so it’s very convenient to play here. The price from golf now was ok ($43) for a mid morning weekday round. However, all of the sand traps were basically piles of dirt that were being dug out or worked on (not good sand). It’s just brings down the asthetic look of an otherwise beautiful course. I am not sure if they are in the process of fixing them post Covid or not but it’s 2023 now so it’s time to invest some money to make them nice again. My other complaint is no ball washers on any of the holes and carts don’t have GPS. Staff was friendly and pace of play was great.
Pace
Way too many people and no starter or anyone keeping track of where people were going off.
Great Layout Poorly Maintained
As is the case with most New Era courses in this area, Clover is a great layout that is in poor shape. The bunkers are horrible, basically unplayable. The greens were terrible as well. The aerification work that was done was botched and the ball looked like a basketball dribbling across the greens.
I would like to say this will get better as the season develops, but that has NOT been my experience with New Era. It is a shame because this is a fantastic layout if it were properly maintained.
Course was not well maintained. Poor discolored greens and bunkers and fairways where not maintained
Greens Immaculate, No Money Spent Elsewhere
Selected the course due to proximity (within 20 miles) and availability. I expected slow play due to the gorgeous weather, so my review is mostly related to course conditions. I felt that the greens were immaculate, but the rest of the course could use some upkeep and TLC. Fairways were decent, but it was very noticeable that attention was needed on all other aspects (brush clearing, sand traps matted and unplayable, rough was a mix of grass types and dead spots.) Staff was wonderful, and we still enjoyed ourselves. I just felt that the price was steep ($60) for the course conditions and care.
Early season, slow play, total swamp.
It was one of the first nice days of the season and was pretty crowded. The pace was pretty slow. Really nice new carts. Fairways and bunkers were soaking. Our threesome agreed they should not have been open. Cart path only for the carts was helpful but really killed the pace and should have been accounted for in the start times. We waited on almost every hole (we even had a beginner) and we felt rushed from the group behind us. Most bunkers were overflowing with water and unplayable. Most fairways were so soggy the ball would just plop and bury itself halfway. I really like this course it’s a shame it was in such bad shape.
Cold and windy.
The course, considering it is the end of the season, is in good shape. It as a cold and windy day, and very few golfers were on the course. The miserable weather caused us to quit after 9 holes.
Stole a nice day in November in Ohio
Had the opportunity to play here with a Cous n law. I haven’t played here for some 20 years. In fairness to CV November is not prime time golf season in central Ohio. The traps were non playable, no tee markers on the tees (not a problem), some of the fairways were either just planted or in need of being planted, some of the greens were in need of some TLC. Don’t get me wrong we had a great day and the weather was perfect. This course even on GN is a little more pricey than my budget but I could not pass up this opportunity. I would love to come back during prime time Summer and at a reasonable $.

Great Value!!
First time playing and was impressed for Greater Columbus Area. 83 Blues. Played on a dry day. Blue Tee boxes were good. The tips require shaping left and right and clearly further back. Par 3 boxes kind of rough. Longer course, gives a lot of fun options for some of the longer par 4s and 5s. Complaint: No sand in bunkers
Plays well but could use some TLC
Clover Valley plays well, but the course could certainly use some TLC. Bunkers are not kept up with at all. Greens and fairways weren’t awful however. Rough wasn’t unruly either. Not a bad course by any means, but it’s not worth it’s full price. Take advantage of a hot deal vs paying full price and you will probably enjoy it more. I will play it again down the line, but it’s not a first choice.
