Fun but disappointed

First, pretty much everyone at this course is super friendly. It is a challenging layout. Some very tight holes that demand accuracy. The greens this time around were very firm and fast. Tough to keep a ball to stay, but they weren't unfair. Course as a whole is in pretty good shape and definitely a value play. Now on to the disappointment. We played at 1140. Prime middle of day time. There was a tournament that was out ahead of us. Marshals kept them on a pretty good pace but half way house was closed. The turn from 9 to 10 is a true out and back so clubhouse was out of the question. Bev cart only had small snacks, no hot dogs. So we were famished by the time we got done with 18. Back to clubhouse at 315 and zero food. Big time missed opportunity on a saturday. Fortunately burgerfi was a 6 minute drive.

Thanks for the review, but a little confused. The course brings you right back to the clubhouse after 9 and we have awesome hot and ready hot dogs, burgers and chicken sandwiches ready for all golfers along with some super cold beverages. Our goal is to get food in all of our awesome customers hands in less than a minute. Next time give it a try. AWESOME FOOD, great prices and of course the friendliest staff in the business!

Advent area, county golfer.

Overall, this golf course is in good play condition comparatively to other public courses within the immediate area. I would rate this course. One of the better ones Greene’s punched about three weeks ago starting to settle and fill staff is friendly golfing here is enjoyable play..

Staff and policies are an issue here

I have played River Club many times over the past 8 years. Honestly the course is probably in the best shape that I have seen it. It has been super dry and it is still in pretty goos shape. The greens were great. The fairway were mostly very good and the tee boxes were above average for a public course. The issue here is some policies that are just bizarre. They want you to take one cart to the range and a different one on the course. Basically they will not let you take your cart to the range. When I arrived at bg drop off, a very pleasant and nice man asked if we were going to the range or playing. I said that we were playing and going to the range first. He took our bags and said I will put them on a cart down the hill behind the clubhouse where all the carts are. I said, ok thanks. We went in, paid in the pro shop and walked around back to our cart and to get range balls to go to the range. We got the range balls and went to the cart. There was no keys on the cart where our bags have been placed. I looked around for an attendant and couldn't find one, so I approached a man washing some golf carts and ask if we could have a key for our cart to go to the range and hit our bucket of balls before we play. He looked at me and said with a nasty tone "No, those carts stay where they are, you need to walk or get a range cart. " then he turned around and kept doing what he was doing. I said "Are you serious? our bags are already all hooked up and we pulled stuff out already for get our cart ready. He said Your choice, walk or get a range cart from up front." I stared to get kind of angry because he was being so rude to me about it. I started walking up to the front, then I finally saw the nice man that originally greeted us, and I asked him for a range cart and he went and happily got me one. We transferred our stuff to that cart, went to the range, then came back and transferred everything back again. And then sat there nd waited in our cart with ne key until it was our time. Then the starter, who was the rude guy washing the carts, put our key in and said, "You can go now." No apology, no niceness art all, just a miserable guy being a jerk yet again. We left and played. I doubt I will play here again because of this. I just hate people being rude about things like this. I did hear from a friend that a lot of the staff here was very rude but I just didn't believe it until I went again. Well, I am sad to say that it is true. I will golf elsewhere. This course isn't worth the trouble.

Mike, sorry you had a bad experience. We have range carts out front for our customers who want to hit the range. The range is very popular, and we bought a separate set of carts to service our customers so we have enough carts for our on course experience. The system is easy. Grab a cart and ride to range. When you are done drive over to our starter and he will load you into your on course carts which are all staged by tee time. We only send one foursome at a time to our first tee, as a way of showing massive respect to the people on the tee box. Hope this helps. Please email me at tony@riverclub.golf if you would like to discuss this further. Our outside staff are super friendly are hard working guys. Tony

Poor communication

We booked a 3:40 foursome, paid inside, then got to our golf cart. Went to chip and putt for 10mins then the starter gave us the cart key. Before we left, he said carts have to be back by 7pm. Why wouldn’t this information given before we paid or even booked?? We had to quit after 13 holes when there was plenty of daylight still left. Turned the cart in at 7:03 and the attendant was extremely rude. Pace of play wasn’t bad but they were allowing groups of two out when they said they don’t do that. Having course etiquette, we allowed them to play through. Conditions have went poor from the past. Probably won’t be booking or playing here again. Very disappointed they wouldn’t allow to play past 7pm. County course conditions and staff friendliness are better than this place anymore.

I’m not sure how we can communicate more effectively. Our 7PM cart return policy is CLEARLY written on the golf now booking engine. Additionally, our staff is trained to remind each player of this policy when sending them out on the course. In your review, you acknowledge that our starter did inform you of this. It’s not a bog deal, just book a little earlier and you will get in 18 easily.

Great condition

Really enjoyable course in great shape. Friendly staff as well. Their driving range cart policy makes no sense. You can’t take your cart to driving range. You must use different cart and many times there are none available so you have to walk over to it. With everything else so well run why irritate your customers in the very beginning of their experience?

Thanks for your feedback. The range is super popular and if we let range customers take the on course carts, we will not have enough for the players. We have 7 range carts now, and will be expanding this fleet in the future. Additionally, due to the course’s popularity we need to keep all on course carts staged by tee times to keep things running efficiently. We take pace of play VERY seriously. I wish I designed the course, that driving range tee would be right by the staging area! It’s a slight inconvenience, just take a few clubs out there when we are out of range carts. Thanks! Tony

Good Value

Have played the course before and decided to return. Value was good. Course was in good shape overall. Pace of play was super. Finished in about 3.5 hours (3 golfers). They didn't have a cart girl so we had to rely on water in-between holes which wasn't an issue really. To me, it's more of a driving course as some of the distances between green and tee were quite far. I'd return.

Played this course

I had read the reviews and they were on target. So many courses in the area are rough and haven’t recovered from the drought, but this course looked great. Fairways were green and played well. The greens were a little slow but true. The layout is very interesting with some challenging holes and some straight holes that fit any level of skill. I will plan on playing it again next time I’m in town and will tell friends about it. The staff is friendly as well.
