Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club
About
The Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club, centrally located on McMullen Booth Road a comparably short course, offering just 5,454 yards from the blue tees and a slope rating of 118. Most of the fairways are wide, making errant shots still playable. In essence, it is the ideal place to work on your golf game, to correct that nasty slice or learn to hit that oversized driver without fear of losing 100 balls. As a result, it is a favorite among novice golfers who want to be challenged but also have an enjoyable round.

Do not recommend playing this course!
Had not played this course in years but within two minutes i remembered why. When i asked if it was possible for a handicap flag for the cart for by older brother who has a serious knee issue i was told curtly the course does not differentiate golfers. When i stated the issue the guy in charge again curtly said he didn’t care! I was offended and gobsmacked! And then i made the mistake of asking to purchase a beer and got a lecture about three schools being on the property. I am a senior, it was a Saturday and i scratched my head wondering what the heck these schools had to do with adults in their mid-sixties enjoying a beer on the golf course. Does someone really beleive the young people who may attend these schools do not know what beer is? That these young people will be jaded the rest of their lives if they see responsible adults enjoying a cold beer responisibly on a golf course? What a huge negative to start a day of golf one was looking forward to ... as i sais earlier, i would NOT tecommend anyone patronize this facility!
BEST PERSONNEL ANYWHERE !
i Have been golfing 30 and I have never been treated better by a staff anywhere / bar none !! Because of trouble on the main rd we couldn't get in. We parked near the 7th hole on the opposite side from the clubhouse and they drove all the way out to get. AND THEY WERE FRIENDLY ABOUT IT. We live 70 miles away but we will certainly go back with the wives! Can't say enough good about them and the course - great greens - great layout
Great buy for a good golf course
The greens were very fast today and did not hold the shots. Had to play to front of green. They had been sanded recently so greens were a bit tricky but not bad just fast.
Slow
Nice layout, not long, excellent greens, pace of play needs to be addressed
Also good for beginners
I played the course with my wife who is a beginner, we liked the orange tee boxes for the beginners.
The new greens are perfect and big plus from last year when I played the course.
Also good to have the blue tee boxes to make the course more challenging.
Great Tuesday
I play twice a week all around the palm harbor Dunedin tampa area . The new greens were super fast but would not hold a shot 60 yards or out. But very much enjoyed playing the course again.
Thanks keep up the good work on the course.
Nice course
The course was under construction making the holes shorter, which was a bummer. But, it was a good course to play, and I would definitely play it again.
This was awful
First off the course is advertised as a par 69, we show up no one says anything and we get to the first hole to find out it’s a par 61. There was a warning about construction on greens when we purchased but nothing on the course being 2000 yards left than advertised. Worst of all the hole themselves were completely full of murky water. We left after the 1st hole and when we went inside to talk to the pro shop they acted like they could care less and like it was our fault for booking online with golf now. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Avoid this course at all cost
Absolutely Atrocious
Absolutely the worst golf course i have ever played at. Actually played 3 holes and left, it was that bad.
For starters the course is a par 62 and under 4000 yards (not a par 69, 6000+ yard course, as advertised on Golf Advisor, Golf Now, and 18 Birdies). They never mentioned greens were under construction, it was merely in the fine print when we booked it through Golf Now. However that wasn't the most upsetting part. The tee-boxes were complete mud, maybe 20% grass, if that. Greens weren't mowed in well over a week and the holes were filled with mucky water. Plus there was dead grass piled up with muddy patches in the green. They could at least rake the greens in the morning.
We left after 3 holes and asked for a refund because of the terrible course conditions and the false advertisement of a 6000+ yard course par 69. The 2 men in the pro shop did not care of our concerns. Acted as if we were fault for playing such terrible conditions and refused a refund.
We still left and played at Lansbrook Golf Course 100x better and friendlier staff.
I have never reviewed anything in my life but i felt so scammed today. I felt i needed to save others the trouble.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. TERRIBLE COURSE. TERRIBLE MAINTENANCE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Temporary greens.
Course is average size course with a little water play on several holes. ALL GREENS ARE TEMPORARY. just patches cut and sanded on the fairways.
It seems no attempt was made to make these temporary green useable. All are bumpy, lack grass and are equal to a cow pasture.
Visiting from Canada
We were staying in the area and were looking to play some golf. I read the reviews and was aware there maybe some construction.
The front 9 was much shorter than usual and the greens were not great. The back 9 was the normal length and the greens lighting fast.
When the construction is completed this looks to be an amazing course.
We had a blast and look forward to returning next year.
Great people doing great things for the community.
Under Construction
The course is under construction and will be for the next 3 months. Until then, it's playing much shorter with temporary greens. The staff is great and I will be back when they are done.
This course is surprisingly challenging.
Be warned: I believe this course will be undergoing renovation soon during the summer (2018) and temporary greens will be in place. May want to hold off until they complete this.
Otherwise I had a great time here. I am long off the tee and had a hard time taking driver most holes. Its just very tight and tricky. I actually really loved the challenge this course offers even though on paper it is short.
The greens were rolling extremely well, it took me a few holes to get used to the speed after playing some of the courses in the area which are very slow.
The value is okay, if you're a budget golfer like myself definitely try and WALK if you can.
It was a great day playing golf with my father in perfect Florida weather on the Sunday of the The Masters.
Course needs lots of work
Staff here is super friendly and very helpful. Lay out is unique . Big problem iscourse condition. Fairways are sparse but ok in general. Greens are dead. Nothing appears to be growing on any of them. They are as hard as a parking lot and trying to putt is frustrating to say the least. This is a fine organisation that does a lot of good for the community and The First Tee but the golf course itself need a drastic amount of work.
Nice course.
Course was in nice shape but the greens were pretty hard, like cement. Lightening fast greens. We played Friday because it was supposed to be Autism Awareness day at the course but we didn't see or hear any mention of it. 10th hole was extremely dangerous but the rest of the course was really nice. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
played before
some good greens maintenance has helped improve also fairways were well kept
Thanks for playing and for the feedback. You stated our policy correctly; we do not differentiate golfers with limitations. We allow the cart within 30’ of the green so access can be accommodated as easily as possible. In return we ask drivers to be responsible in sensitive areas and areas around the tees and greens. As for the alcohol, we do have a public school on property and state law mandates the no alcohol policy. I will work with the staff when messaging our policies.
