nice course design
i had played this course in july 2017. The typical Service for cleaning the club was ok. What i missing on the round was the service on the round no drinks and snacks. The golf course has an interesting design.
i come back .
Shell Point Golf Club
Great course for all handicaps and skill levels. Greens were an 8.5, a bit slower than I prefer and took a few holes to adjust. Greens were worked on the previous week which accounted for the speed.
Good course for a draw or fade, but being able to hit a straight ball will be a great asset. All holes reachable in regulation.
If you are able, play this course.
Good Experience
I played this course on a hot and very humid day. Thank goodness water and ice were plentiful. Course was not crowded and pace of play was very good. I lucked out and played with two "employees" of the course who were pretty good golfers overall. This helped a bit with the "hidden" canals on the back nine. They gave some helpful advice because it is easy to miss the markers that tell you distances to the hazards. But if you pay attention, you can navigate your way around this course. Overall it was in great condition, surprisingly so considering the heat. I will definitely try to play this again and redeem myself on some holes where I wilted at the end.
Nice course in great shape. The two nines play like different courses. Front nine is more wide open and you could see your landing zones. Back nine is tighter and some blind shots. Enjoyed both. Little pricey.
WELL MAINTAINED
Very nice course. It is well maintained on both the fairways and greens. Greens are a little slow and take some getting used to. I would definitely recommend this couse to anyone.
Great course !
This is a challenging course with excellent greens and a friendly and professional staff. I've played multiple times and have always found the course challenging and never dull. The multiple tee selections make it appropriate for all skill levels.
Shame about the greens
A very well laid out course, not overly long but still quite challenging. Unfortunately the greens had recently been hollow tined and were slow and very bumpy.
I will definitely return but only if the greens are in better condition.
Finally, I feel that booking sites should advise you about important course treatments etc. before you book a round.
Staff and Amenities exceed the course itself
Shell Point is one of the strangest layouts I've played. I played the Tips - which are nearly 500 yards longer on the front nine (3,500 yards, three Par 5's, three Par 3's, three Par 4's, with a 240 yard par 3 and a 600+ yard Par 5) than the back (3,000 yards, with most par 4's under 400 yards.) Narrow landing areas and long, forced water carries added to the challenge on the front nine, which I played 5 shots higher than the back nine. Several holes on the back nine are cut across a canal, creating some strange hole design and club choices off the tee. The course had been recently aerated, so I can't comment on the conditions. I'm sure it's better when not in recovery mode. On the plus side - the clubhouse, practice area and amenities are excellent. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and made the day extremely enjoyable. As great as the clubhouse and staff are, I can't recommend this course.
Nice, but noisy...
Nice course and ammenities. However, there is a lot of construction going on, cousing some inconvenience...
There is no doubt this is a lovely course and is not the typical resort course as it manages to keep the course separate from properties to a large degree. A course for all capabilities as there is 1438 yrs difference from white to black with blue & yellow tees in between. And its not just about extra distance because water & other hazards come into play and are trickier from the rear tees.
Only shame is I played mid May and summer renovation was in full swing here, tees, fairways and greens. I'll bet its spectacular when not suffering drought and in full bloom.
Must Play
Everythink is Great! Greens Fairways ! Course in Great shape,
Came back sure
