Lovely Scenery Photo submitted by studeku on 01/23/2015
Could be better!
Stacked tee times, a lot of waiting in between shots. No marshals to be seen, must be trying to pay for new clubhouse.
Tremendous
I played this course several years ago and it was nice, this time through Golf Now I played for $50 not only was it cheaper the course is much improved! You can really tell they've invested many millions on the property! Make sure to play right set of tees for an enjoyable round and you'll definitely come back!
Great Course
Good, Clean. Awesome fairways.. greens a little slow but not a factor to overall Great Quality..
Shell Point - A Very nice course
Played 9 holes (front) with wife (She only plays 9). Excellent facility. Great practice area. Course in very good shape - especially the greens (bent grass). All kinds of wildlife to view throughout. Staff very friendly. Would gladly play again. Had to leave, but the clubhouse looks spectacular - would have liked to have stayed for a bite and bev.
Good quality for a good price
Golf course is in nice part SWFL.Friendly people in staff, little problem is only in GPS with numbres of holes.
Great Conditions, Tough Layout
Lots of trouble on almost every hole. Water crosses fairway on several holes, that you need to pay attention to. Course conditions were great. Greens were in excellent condition and putted fairly, although not overly quick.
Some really nice holes
Very Nice course, and with several tee options, easy to find one right for you. (starter made good suggestion) An unusually cool day that day, but that's golf. However, was really in the mood for a beer when finished. When I walked into pro shop and inquired about the bar, was told they don't have one! Ok, that's their business, but the lady acted like I was a jerk for asking. I'm told they have a religious affiliation. Again, their business, but a 19th hole is not evil. Will not return.
Just OK, with a little cheese
Shell Point presents itself as an upscale course in an upscale community. Certainly they spent a lot of money on the Clubhouse. Once you have used the locker room, you're done. Except: when you get to the range, the constable there asks you for your "range ticket." That' the indicator you paid an additional $15 to hit balls on the range. Are you kidding? This is as cheesy as it gets. No more Shell Point for me.
PS. It takes forever to get there and back.
Hidden hazzards
Bring your ammo if you've never played this layout before. Course conditions were fine but there are way to many hidden water hazards. No markers to hazards, no course layout or pictures of holes on score card. Blind shots galore. Oh and no beer or alcohol allowed. Not worth the $100 with so much other competition in the area.
Great conditions
The fairways, teeboxes and greens were in excellent shape. There is some strategy required for tee shots.
Great Track
Great course, four hour round, perfect weather! Add Shell Point to your SW Florida places to play!
this was a beautiful course. however, there seemed to be some confusion over starting times and meeting the time allotted to finish a round. they are too concerned with players keeping up pace of play. a little added stress. will not play there again.
short holes, blind shots. canals accross fairways. personally nothing good to say about it. wow, no alcohal!!
Shellpoint
The course is pricey but worth treating yourself. Multiple tees allows one to play to skill level. Greens putt true at 10 on Stimp. Traps are fine sand that encourage splashing rather than digging (quality sand is a distinguishing trait of a golfer's course).
Bag drop and cart staff on both ends of the round do not say thank you to tips. Pro shop reception was friendly and helpful. Course marshalls graciously ensure a 4 hour round.
Died of thirst
Good course but no beverage cart. One water fountain on each 9. For $100 would have liked a gator aid or beer on the back
In good condition
Loved the new clubhouse.
Can't wait till it's fully operating.
Best place to play near Sanibel/Captiva
If you are staying on Sanibel/Captiva this is the best and most convenient place to play. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This was the first time I have been told we were playing to quickly. Fairways in general are generous and the greens are in excellent shape, but you have to be accurate off the tees. Carries over water on the back nine are a mystery at times so have a good gps watch. A laser will not give you the layup or carry distances and the scorecard only gives layup distance.
