Shell Point Golf Club

One of the best kept courses played on this vacation. Greens and fairways excellent. Great staff.

Played a 7:48 round of golf after 2 days of heavy rain. Course was in great shape, greens rolling a tad slower due to the rains but very true. Course is very well maintained and the 3 gentleman I played with were great. Will definitely play again.

Upon arriving at Shell Point I was greeted by the friendly staff. The range is irons only, but that's good since you're going to be whipping out those bad boys if you decide to play blue, gold, or tips. I found the course to be fairly challenging. Greens ran true and were beautifully manicured. Caught a group of 4 guys who quickly let me play thru. After that, smooth sailing. I played this course in a little over 2 hours. They had water stations on 3 & 13 I believe. Fairways were in decent shape, was a little dry but what should I expect during May/June in SWFL. Would happily play again.

Front nine seemed different from back - more straight-forward, with less precision required off the tee. Greens were a little slow but not difficult. Conditions very good; pace of play on the slow side (even at mid-day in May! Must of been the perfect weather...). Not a very scenic course. Had to load my own clubs on my cart - no-one at the bag drop! Not my first choice to play again.

The course is well maintained and due to the water an quiet a few spots somewhat challenging.

the course was in pretty good shape. greens were excellent and the fairways were ok, just overseeded. no beverage cart on course and small snack bar in temp pro shop. no BEER!!! should be great facility when all new improvements are done.

Was my what we expected. The staff was great. Layout was very chopped up.

This course has a great layout. The creek on the back nine makes club selection critical. The greens are in pristine condition. The course is not easy on the score but would play it time and time again because of its design and condition.

Looks like the new clubhouse and range, chipping and putting areas will be wonderful upgrades.

Course was good, services efficient, weather perfect. Greens were a little slow, but very true.

Good day on the course

Beautiful course and layout. Very tough with lots of water and out of bounds on most holes. Greens are just two years old and do not hold very well. When the greens become more receptive it will be a top notch course. Be aware that no alcohol is allowed or available, because of religious affiliation.

the course has too many layup holes. overall I did not like this course and would not recommend it.also the greens were in great shape but very slow.

today we have played this beautyful course - we, that is me (I have played the course before) and my daughter - accompanied by my wife and the boyfriend of my daughter, who were not playing. We booked a tee-time online for two players with "golf now" and payed the reduced green fee in advance.

My daughter (she is a talented beginner) - before starting - wanted to hit some balls for practice. So before the start of the round she visited the driving range (or what was left of it in the situation "under construction"). She got a golf cart and started to practice.

Later on I arrived at the scene, checked in and got another golf cart for me and my wife.

Checking in, the people in the pro shop did not know about the special deal I contracted with golf now. (I had accepted a "hot deal" for 42 $ US p.p. instead of 65 $ US p.p.), so I was lucky, having the booking receipt with me, because it was a little embarrassing - referring to a special deal which did not seem to be accepted by the pro shop.

Eventually we were checked out and were good to go. ....

At the starters shelter we got in trouble again with only two players in two carts with one driver (not playing) and one player (driving the cart) each. Several people from the golf course stopped us several times for checking the cart ## and our receipts - asking for money or credit card not letting us play our game relaxed - for the first 3 holes. It was really annoying. !!!! Golfers know about the need to be relaxed on the first holes ...

Ok, we promised to stop by the pro shop after 9 holed and pay whatever was necessary, so they interrupted bothering us.

After 9 holes we stopped by at the pro shop and were (without explanation) charged with another $ US 48 (!) for using a second golf cart, which normally is (this was announced by the people involved on the course) 26 $ US (it was because two people were on the cart instead of one!!???). We never experienced at no place in the world, that the price for a golf cart would be doubled if two people are carried.

Our drives at the first holes failed, because we were not very amused about this greedy attitude of this golf enterprise Shell Point.

In summary it was a very nice afternoon. It is a beautyful well maintained course with a lot of amazing wild life. And the people working at that course were rather nice. But - something was wrong and disturbing - and I am writing this, because, I hope this could be stopped: It could be the attitude of the management or the complete "business model" of this golf course: "the customer and golfer and his fun do not count, apparently its only the green fee he pays ... " - even the people working for this business seem to appologize for that.

The Shell point golf course is actually upgrading (new Club House is under construction). Until today I was seriously considering a Membership, because I own a second home very close to this amazing golf course and really like it. But if there is no reconsideration about the impact of actual policy I rather would play less beautyful or more distant courses than at this ugly "money machine" - lets hope, that this wake up call will have some resonance ...

This course is pretty tight with lots of water. The fairways and greens are in good shape but the greens are very slow compared to others in the area. Pace of play was slow as we waited on every tee box.

Staff is friendly but amenities leave a bit to be desired as there is no beverage cart and only one bathroom on the course. It looks like a magnificent clubhouse is being built, but for now it's a trailer. It's also overpriced for afternoon tee times compared to other similar courses in the area.

Had a good time and enjoyed the course. Pace of play was good. Was in great shape.

Some force carries so play tee that you can enjoy yourself.

I enjoyed the course but thought $95 was a little steep of a price. It fits in with what courses are charging at this time of the year but thought it should of been around $60-70 imo. Greens rolled true. Some holes were pretty tight but fair.

The weather was cold and extremely windy-40 mph gust so it played more difficult than usual. Course was in great shape compared to last year (same time of year). Work on the new clubhouse appears to be coming along, can't wait until it is finished! Good course for the price vs. others at the same price.

Previous wet weather resulted in the range being closed.

Course in great condition, especially the greens.
