Cypress Course at Stonegate Golf Club
About
The Cypress Course is one of two 18-hole, championship courses at Stonegate Golf Club at Solovita. The course has a player-friendly layout with ample fairways and bunkers that are large but generally low lipped. There are some challenges that should not be taken too casually though, including sloped, elevated greens that are heavily guarded and water hazards on fourteen holes. The golf course is known for having scenic par-3 holes that are particularly difficult from the back tees. In addition to the two golf courses, Stonegate Golf Club at Solovita offers practice facilities that include a targeted grass driving range, putting green, and practice bunkers.

Diamond in the middle of nowhere
A couple of buddies and I were trying to find a course to play close to Davenport. I stumbled upon this little gem the night before while browsing tee times on Golf Now. My expectations were far exceeded when pulling into the parking lot...this place must be nice I said to myself. Before I could get my coffee off out of my cup holder, I noticed a gentleman with a cart and he was already loading my bag into the cart. Off he went and in I went to pay for the round. Met 3 of my buddies in the pro shop (the 4th was lost because he used Wayz instead of google to find it) and we headed to the practice green to putt a few while waiting for Poky. He soon arrived and got the same friendly service we all did and on we went to the first hole in the Cypress course. We all hit our drives on the first hole in the fairway (not a first but a rarity). Played the first 4 holes and all of us were like, this is a really nice course for $26 on a weekend. It was a little tight there on out and the greens could’ve been faster but all in all was a great value. They had over seeded recently so 90 degree rule was in effect and probably why the greens weren’t cut lower...I would recommend to anyone looking for a challenge and a great value. Lots of wildlife too...several 3’ - 7’+ alligators and plenty of tilapia in the water hazards. May want to throw my telescoping mini rod into my bag for next time...bass were pretty active. Great deal great price and overall great experience.
Stonegate Cypress Course
Have played both the Stonegate Oaks & Cypress Courses over the last week and both are in very good condition and a pleasure to play. On both occasions all the staff were polite and very helpful and we would definitely recommend playing either or both these courses.
We are playing the Oaks again this Friday with friends.
WOW
Ive played this course many times and the Oaks Course and by far this is the best condition that I have seen the Cypress course in. From the moment you step into the first tee box you can see how great of shape the course is in. Cypress is definitely the harder of the two courses where it requires you to have precise shots. Overall the course is in great condition!
Good layout shame about the greens
Had previously played and enjoyed the Oaks course so was looking forward to challenging the Cypress. Course is nicely laid out and fairways in decent condition in spite of the recent hurricane. Parts of the course had been flooded but this did not impact on the game as there was little sign of damage, The greens however were not in such a good shape and had signs of wear and tear as well as some patches of different grass and bare patches too. Enjoyed the game and may return but Cypress will not be top of the list
Great condition
I played Cypress at Stonegate six days after Hurricane Irma and the course was in excellent shape. The grounds folk at Stonegate do an excellent job of keeping the course in very good condition.
Great course
Loved playing this course. It was in very good shape and offered plenty of challenge. Would gladly play it again.
Nice track
This is a fun course to play in a nice friendly setting. On occasion it got slow but not to an aggravating level. Love the hole variety and fairness of the greens. We play here on our winter swing every year.
This has to be one of my favorite courses in the greater Orlando area. First, you have an enjoyable drive into the courses through a quaint downtown area. The staff has been excellent every time I have played here. The starter on the Cypress course is always very funny and personable. The greens were rolling very nicely and the fairways were in great shape as well. This can be a very trying layout if the wind is blowing.
Very enjoyable round made better getting paired with locals, course was in good condition and greens were true. Will definitely play again.
Great place to play
New management co. took over recently, made real good changes and put $$ into both courses. Can't wait to play Oaks, I might play here all spring and summer.
played here quite often - from MN
course in good shape, great pace of play in the afternoon. only downside was never saw beverage cart
Stonegate cypress course
Not too easy makes you use course management. Good surroundings but long in between holes.
Nice layout
This was a challenging course. Nice layout and decent greens. The only complaint is the hidden water on some holes that was not marked very well. If it is your first time playing pay close attention to the stone diagrams for shot placement. You can't blast away like the oaks course.
I am sad to see negative reviews for this course. I have had nothing but great experiences both times I have played here. The staff in the shop and the starter were very personable. The course conditions were everything I could have hoped for. This is a shot making course, you cannot unload your driver. The practice facility is great as well with several chipping and putting greens with practice bunkers. Highly recommend making the trip out to Stonegate!
Great day of golf.
Played the Oaks course. Absolutely the best course we have golfed so far on our visit from Canada. Friendly staff and very accommodating. From tee box to green, the course was in excellent condition. Greens were very true and the fairways were all lush and green and easy to hit from. Would highly recommend the course, and we will make sure to include this on our list for our next visit to Florida.
Good Layout but a course stuck among houses
First we had booked a tee time with a provider and we get to the course and they are sending everyone off at the same time in a shot gun because they have a tournament, we should have been told or they shouldn't have taken outside tee times. The staff didn't care and was only concerned with members, which I understand but don't take outside tee times. We lost at least 15-20 minutes driving to holes and when we were done, no idea how to get back to clubhouse and certainly o help from staff nor were they around. AVOID this place. The houses are so on top of everything and inbetween every hole the layout loses whatever good portions there were to the layout.
this comment is so far off, it leaves me breathless. quite nice course in very nice golf community. evidently this person wanted to be in the middle of nowhere. he/she knew EXACTLY what they were getting into driving into the course. baloney.
