About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Great course
Good distance overall. Very forgiving if you can’t hit it straight
Lake Wales Country Club
Greens were sanded. Fairways with lots of bald spots. Best place for the price to practice your game of golf
Just Another Soon To Close Country Club!!!
Nationwide I've noticed several Country Clubs going downward as I wondered the obvious opening to the public. I'm a Truck Driver and have golfed from New York to Oregon and many courses off the I-10 tract. So I'm know what I see and it's not looking good!!!
Not worth it !
First of all the course has been purchased by new owners and I wish them good luck ! Its not worth $37 and the fairways are sparse though out and have been badly neglected before the new owners have purchased it . The snowbirds will be coming down so that why the increase in rates, Fleece the sheep ! i wont be paying this rate until I see an improvement drastically done . this isnt the new owners fault but unfortunately their problem ! That why I sincerely wish them the best !
Getting better
Have played this course many times and has been in declining condition. Today was much better. Fairways have more grass and were mowed. Also the rough was mowed so if a ball ended up there, it could be found. Hope it continues to improve. Enjoy playing here.
Tough conditions
Green conditions were fine, Fairways were lacking grass lots of weeds lots of bare spots
Older course but Good Value
Easy to lose a ball even just slightly off the fairway. Super long grass. Nice staff, nice surroundings/homes/vegetation etc. good value.
Sold!
Course layout is a challenge depending on the tees. Course can play long. It was just sold at auction and it is a shame that the course could be lost to developers. The pro shop said that hopefully the new owners will put money back into the Donald Ross design. The greens were in good shape but fairways and tee boxes are lost to neglect. Some fairways have no grass at all in large areas. Hopefully the course won’t be added to the growing list of golf courses closing permanently.

Had another great day off golf. Greens in very good shape, pace of play great. Staff very friendly. Great little course, well play again soon
This course is horrible
Tee boxes and fairway have no grass, only weeds and soil. I have never seen a course in so bad condition. This course is over rated, not more than 1 star.
It’s the first time I write a rating for a golf course. It is horrible. Wondering if they are about to close.
What happened
The course was not in good shape. The tee boxes were pretty bare. But the fairways were lacking grass. I lost track of the number of times I had to move the ball off dirt patches to something resembling grass. Definitely was in better shape the last time we played the course.
What has happen
Only thing good there is use of driving range, no grass and greens are nice. Tee boxes and fairways all weeds, no grass.
Golf course in poor shape.
Very disappointed in the condition of this Donald Ross design course. Fairways were in horrible condition!
