Lake Wales Country Club
About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Millionaires golf
My first time playing this course, a couple of greens needed some TLC but apart from that it was in generally good condition, I virtually had the course to myself as members tend to play in the morning and my tee time was afternoon, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the food was also good so all in all a good day and value for money, would play it again.
Private club open to public
A very good layout that fits any personal skill level. Few greens had some spotty poor areas on them but all putted true. Would play this again when back in town since club went semi-private.
Fast play on a Sunday afternoon
great course. Lots of sand. Ice water cups lids and straws abailable throughout the course. Beautiful landscape and old trees. Played 18 holes in 2.5 hours. Wonderful.
Playing again
As usual a good value for your money greens a little sparse in places but very playable, I will be back!
Great course for all levels
Course is wide open so grip it and rip it with no fear.
Unfortunately the greens are suffering right now. There were many bare spots and not showing signs of any TLC. I hope they turn it around. Great course to play.
FRIDAY OUTING
THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE . THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION,GREEN WAS PRETTY FAST AND NICE. WEATHER WAS HOT BUT THATS WHY WE LIVE
HERE. GREAT COURSE
A nice Sunday
Played on 5/31/2015, at 10:30 am, not crowded, caught up to the threesome on the back nine, but they let us play though. Greens were in great shape, course is getting dry, normal for this time of year. Will play 2 or 3 more times this summer & fall.
Good course for the money
Good course for the money that is good for golfers of all levels
Needs TLC
Greens were excellent in areas where there were no bare spots. Tee boxes and fairways had many bare spots. Course was fun to play, not hard but needs some care.
Lake Wales GC
Eight of us played this course for the first time and all of us found it to be very ordinary. The staff were very helpful and most of the greens were in good nick but many of the fairways were a bit tatty. We ate in the clubhouse after our round and we found the burgers and dogs were tasty.
Paul Dunn, Manchester, England
not overly challanging but good
some fairways getting thin but overall good . greens
in very good condition, and they treat you well here.
Nice place to go
Undulating greens , elevation changes, bunkers, water forced carries. Bring your full bag of shots.
Dietrich
Course was in reasonable condition for April. Staff was great. Clubhouse was beautiful.
challenging Greens
Course was in great shape. the Symetra Tour played here a few days ago, I guess that's why the greens were super fast.
not at all challenging off the tee but the greens are very difficult.
must play
Greens were perfect! love this course great mix of holes. if you get the chance you should play LWCC.
This course has many very large sand bunkers
The course has a nice variety of holes , all greens are protected by large bunkers , the greens were fast but not in the best condition . The fairways and greens could have used some more overseeding .
Old style golf course
On a golfing holiday from Scotland - Member of party is originally form Wales so went here as a Novelty. Extremely glad we did. Great value for money
From club shop staff to people practicing on range - we were made to feel very welcome and appreciated.
The course is fairly easy too play for golfers of all levels and the greens were running well.
Would happily go back.
BunkersBunkers
Check in was a breeze....pro shop staff and starter very accommodating.Tee boxes and parts of fairways lacked grass growth.Greens were excellent but your approach shots had to be accurate as most greens were protected short/long left and right with deep bunkers..Greens rolled nicely but I tended to overread the breaks.
Fast Greens
Basically wide open, fairways are OK, rough is dormant and not much grass. Price makes it attractive but it is a long drive from Orlando area. Probably would not go back.
Member for a day? Not a chance!
Booked here to audition LWCC for possible membership after letting ours lapse at Lake Ashton. First words we heard after greeting were "since you're here on a Golf Now tee time, you are not allowed to use the range." So they'll sell you golf and a cart, but if you want to warm up before the round, do it somewhere else. So much for treating you like an honored guest.
No overseeding for the course. Greens are almost ridiculously fast as the grass is dormant. This is fine for the fairways and rough, but they ought to consider overseeding the tees and greens for their busy season. It was a nice layout that at one time must have been a real gem. Same with the facilities that were obviously once very nice, but now show years of neglect. The bar closes at 5:00.
I would say for the money, there are many better choices.
