About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Dirt Fairways
Played for $20 so not too upset but the fairways were literally all dirt. Rough was in poor conditions too, however the greens were in amazing shape and the layout of the course is fun. Just went out to have a good time and moved ball around on tee boxes and fairways to where there was actually a slight patch of grass.
No course maintenance
The greens are nice… but that’s about it. Fairways are more dirt then grass, and the grass that is there is basically the rough.
Very Poor Condition
Fairways are dirt. Bring a artificial turf door mat that you can hit off of. Only positives is the greens are in pretty good shape and the water hazards all have water in them. Donald Ross is rolling in his grave.
Course in terrible condition, greens are ok, fairways are mostly dirt, tees mostly dirt.
Shame to see this course in such bad condition, I probably won't be back for at least a year.

Only thing good are the greens.
The greens are beautiful but the fairways have weeds and sand pits. Maybe with some rain the grass will grown in the fairways
Needs Help
The only reason I gave this track an average rating is because of the Greens. They are a bit slow but surprisingly in Good shape, as compared to the rest of the course, a Goat Pasteur and Needs Alot of Help.
Lake Wales, golf course
By using golf now’s hot deals at the lake, Wells country club you cannot beat the price for the quality. Of course you’re getting to play.
Cow Pasture
Greens were pretty good. Other than that, course was in bad share
We had a 12:52 tee time. Had a group of 30 they put in front of us. Teed off 1:30 behind a fivesome.
Good for the price
17 of 18 Greens were excellent doing repairs on one. Fairways are dry, sparse and hard.
Newer owners, bad course results
I have played this course many years, never seen this course so bad. Greens nice a little slow, sand traps nice. Tee boxes, fairways couldn’t find much grass. New ownership seemed about 2 years did plant some seeds, starting looking better. Now just bad.

Can you keep up the maintenance get some water on the fairways the greens from us?
Beautiful Layout, course in disrepair
This Donald Ross course has a phenomenal layout but the condition of this course has deteriorated extremely. We have been playing here for the last three years. It’s getting worse every time we play. This course is worth saving.
