Timacuan Golf Club

About
Nestled in the gently rolling hills of Lake Mary Timacuan is a Ron Garl designed course. The front nine is reminiscent of a Scottish links-style course, with wide open fairways, rolling hills and deep bunkers. Watch the wind and keep it low!
Waste bunkers garnish the back and water comes into play on several holes. In a poll, GolfWeek Magazine ranked Timacuan the 14th best course in the state. Bobby Weed renovated the course in 1996. The course is located just 15 minutes from downtown Orlando and winds through beautiful lakes and wooded areas.
Hole No. 2 is rated as "most challenging in Central Florida"

Still Struggling to Maintain
I live very close to this course and used to play it regularly. It is nothing like it was 10-20 years ago. A discounted $35 rate is reasonable for the conditions and I will play it again. Most golf courses have deteriorated in the last decade and Timacuan is similar to many course that used to be amazing. The greens are in much better shape than in the spring when we were in a drought. Still some bare patches on some. Fairways are generally in good condition. Tee boxes are in poor condition. Many are just sand. There are many areas where major repairs are needed and appear to be in progress, but not actively being worked on. Cart paths are crumbling, no beverage cart, and the stone hole yardage signs are covered in green algae. The recently swapped front and back 9, so hole #2 is now the closed hole. Driving range is good - I like the shaggy mats for irons. Putting green is in great shape. Pitching green is in bad condition.
I give them credit for getting it to playable condition, but my sense is that the course maintenance crew/person does not have the resources or possibly the knowledge to properly maintain a golf course.
Wait and See
This championship course is one of the best layouts around..
Course conditions greens , fairways are steadily improving
A golfers golf course
Always grwat
The greens were in great shape and the pace of play was awesome! Glad this course is still around!
Terrible
One of the worst shape golf courses I've seen in a while. I would put stoneybrook east up against it. What have you done to that golf course. Horrific. Play at your own risk.
What a deal
Timacuan was in great shape with the exception hole 11 which they told us about. Love the layout and hope to play there again very soon!
A little Disappointed
I used to play this course a few times a year and it was great. It is in rough condition right now. It looks like they are trying to restore it so i hope it makes a comeback. The staff was friendly and attentive.
Course is in real rough shape overall. Greens, tee boxes and fairways need serious love.
Conditions
First time I’ve played here and it was absolutely terrible conditions. Hitting off weeds on the fairway and tee boxes (some didn’t even have grass to stand or hit off, just dirt). Greens were beaches but I won’t dog them on that cause they were treating them that day. Clubhouse looked closed and rundown, Definitely has potential but man it was rough and not worth the $40 I spent that day.
Really turning the corner
First time playing here in 2025. I had my hesitations because of the last time I played was not great. However, after playing today I can see improvements to the fairways and greens. Green were rolling fantastic today, i was very pleased. I would recommend people give this place another shot, im happy I did.
Disappointed
First time playing this course, so disappointing I’ve heard great things about this course and couldn’t wait to play it. I’m sure in the past this place was great. It has been let go and neglected.
Course is in awful shape
I was shocked as to how bad of shape this course was in. My father in lives there and used to be a member. Now I know why he isn’t anymore. Sad…cause it’s a great layout. I was considering joining the club. I don’t think they could pay me to become a member. Mayfair is a good bit better…which is crazy to think. Total bummer for this “semi-private” club.
Rough shape everywhere
Thought this place was renovated
Carts were in horrible shape
No concessions
Tee boxes were weed and sand boxes
Greens were horrible
Just horrible shape all around
$25 value at best
Not bad
Not a bad track for the price. We played after 12, so it was only $50. The main issue was the lack of a beverage cart! We were told it was running, but we never saw it. Otherwise, it’s a pretty decent course, considering we’ve had little to no rain in months!
This place has great bones.
While playing here I was debating what rating I would give. At times I loved it and wanted to give it a four and other times a two. It is like an old house that’s been neglected and some parts have been improved. The best thing is that the green are in very good condition. Most tee boxes are a sandy affair as are the fairways. This place offers a fun and challenging layout and I hope that it succeeds in becoming the gem that it is. I love the fairways with undulating ground. I love the occasional forced carry off the tee. I love that you’ll end up using each and every club in your bag. I also hope that they take more time eradicating ants, not all of which are red ants. Try this course I think you’ll enjoy it, warts and all.
