Slowest Greens in Orlando
Course has a neat layout for a short course and is very challenging, especially off the tee on the front 9. Opens up a bit on back and you can make up for some lost balls on the first 4-5 holes.. I usually don't write too many reviews but I gotta somehow remember that this course has the slowest greens that I have ever played in my life. They are also very bumpy, so you really gotta get lucky to make any putt at all. The carts are also painfully slow. It's a challenging track so I wouldn't think you can come here and play a nice easy short course if you are a beginner. You will lose 10+ balls here if you are a 20+ handicap for sure! Starter is a really nice guy. Nobody is gonna give you a hard time here. Overall I would not pay much money to play here again but I would come play a very non serious rd and try to make some fun shots off the tee as there are about 8 drivable par 4s if you hit it over 250 easily..
Good Course, One Problem
As always, this is a pleasant course to play and water and the woods make it challenging for my playing partner and I as we are septuagenarians. With the Florida heat, we only played 9 holes but there was a noticeable problem: the water jug near the 6th tee was EMPTY! In this heat, this is something totally unacceptable as there is no cart girl. The course was fine, the greens a bit slower than usual, but not being able to get some water midway through 9 holes is not a good thing. I hope this is exception, not the rule.
Excellent greens
The greens were in excellent condition and the fairways are good. A few tee boxes were a little rough but overall the course is in great condition.
Slow Carts Yet Good Conditions
I have played 6 affordable courses this summer. Falcons Fire, MetroWest, Stoneybrook West, Ventura, Winter Park Pines, and Casselberry. ... I'll start with the good.
Out of those 6 courses Casselberry had the second best course conditions after Ventura. We started on the Back 9 which is my preferred start. Your turn ends up being on the 8th hole and not the 9th but the flow of the course works much better this way. Played the first 9 holes in 70 minutes despite the cart speed so good for pace of play on a slower day.
I brought a friend who is a bit of a snob. If I hadn't paid for his round he would have asked for a refund 10 minutes into the round for one reason. (I knew about this and that's why I paid for the round). The golf carts go 3-5mph which is just unacceptable. We actually played an entire hole going in reverse with the cart because it goes slightly faster in reverse. A 3-hour round on a slow day could have easily been 2.5 with a quicker cart. I couldn't imagine playing here when busy.
The only other complaint is the beverage cart which I understand is a staffing issue. A woman doesn't need to drive the cart. You have plenty of attentive people that can make a round or two in the heat of the day.
Wouldn’t pay full price
They want 61 dollars. I would only play if there’s a hot deal
