The Club at Eaglebrooke
About
Eaglebrooke, located in Lakeland -- halfway between Orlando and Tampa, is considered one of the premier golf courses in Florida. Its classic links-style design with over 100 feet of elevation change is unique in this part of the state. Natural lakes, abundant with wildlife, can come into play on eleven of the holes creating both spectacular scenery and challenging golf shots. To increase the challenge, there are six sets of tees on each hole. The "seniors" tees were customed designed for the course by architect Ron Garl. Garl requested Senior Golf Magazine to survey seniors for optimal playing preferences and then included these requests in the course design. The atmosphere is first class and the course features bag pick-up at your car. Eaglebrooke was the first course in the US to use Greg Norman's GN 1 grass, the fastest growing and greenest grass available.

Good course, nice design with a lot of doglegs and of course water on one side off most holes so stay to high side as they all slope to water. Apparently they sand the greens every Monday so avoid that day and probably Tuesday. Will come back later in the week while still here.
Good practice area to warm up.
The Best
In the Lakeland/ Polk County area Eaglebrooke is outstanding!
Course is a good test
Nice layout. Lots of water sets up a good challenge.
Great $ value. I’ll be back.
Expected Better Conditions
Play here about twice yearly and it’s always been in very good to great condition throughout the course. Not this time. Tee boxes were chewed up. Greens were ok but not great, but I also heard a rumor they’re refining the greens here this summer so maybe they’re not really concerned about details this year. Not sure. Bunkers very inconsistent. Fairways not bad. Either way I expected better. Great course design here. I was lucky to get a good GN rate as it’s worth nowhere near what they normally charge for fees. Way overpriced right now for conditions. IMO.
Beautiful layout!
For this time of year it’s normal to see those brown color and rough conditions but the layout is very interesting… I’ll be back for sure!
Descent day
Course was in descent shape. Not its best though. Greens rolled ok but were a little beat up.. they are redoing all the greens starting in April so I understand they won’t do much work to the current ones. They are playable. Rest of the course was descent. Some thin lies here and there but overall ok. Of course it’s pricey but that won’t change moving forward. A hot deal or afternoon rate is the way to go. Hopefully after the redo the conditions will catch up w the price. The layout is solid so it’s always fun to play here .
Good but too expensive
I don’t know why the. Prices have gotten outta control. At 11am. $149? Big cypress which stays in slightly better shape is $59 at the same time.. not sure why u would price out the public.. don’t u want to fill the tee sheet? I try to still spot play there but we use to play it every week . U can play Orange County , southern dunes and lake jovita are much leas . At least offer a Florida resident rate or Polk county rate. There is 20 of us and none of us play no more because of price.
Way Overpriced
This is an average course not worth the price of $149. They're Troon managed, so perhaps that's why the high price tag. But you will not receive any Troon points because it's Troon managed, not Troon owned. To be fair, it was in decent shape and the staff was very friendly. They had a sign on the golf carts that said their membership fees may go up 400% (yes, 400, not 40), so $149 may be the cheapest it will ever be!
No boring holes n this course
Could play this course all the time. All 18 holes are unique. Fairways and greens in good shape. Only complaint is some greens are a little to sloped. And a few to many ball marks on the greens. Great, fun course to play.
Awesome Time
Was looking for a course halfway between Orlando and Tampa and the excellent reviews on Golf Now for Eaglebrooke were very accurate.
The practice facilities are top notch. Was able to work on my bunker play with the various practice bunkers in the dedicated chipping area. Practice putting green is phenomenal. The driving range is all grass (again phenomenal). I enjoy warming up as much as I did playing. Note the members have a separate driving range and practice green (which I think is good setup so that members aren't bothered by the public. I'm not a member)
The course conditions were excellent. I played with 2 members and they said the greens were just rolled. They were super fast (felt like PGA TPC greens) but that was okay. I'm a solid putter, but 4 putted a few greens in regulation :-(. The members were very pleasant and helpful with playing tips for each hole.
Course has lots of water and very scenic. Several holes are wide and open so the course is forgiving. It's truly fun to shoot over water on a few of the holes.
The food and drinks at the club house are excellent. Lori is a great bartended. The grouper sandwhich with dry rub steak fries was an awesome way to cap off a great time.
Note: the members said the course is closing from April - October 2025 to redo greens, bridges, and other aspects. I was surprised. This will only make an awesome course even better. I hope they don't raise the price too much.
Sorry for the long review.
Not worth the $
$160 for the round was way overpriced. I like the layout, conditions were good but not 4.5 stars. Save the $ and play an $80 track.
Even Better Than I Recall
Hadn’t played this course in over 12 years and the experience was even better than I recall. The layout is challenging and the course is well maintained. As with the majority of Troon properties, it was a pleasure to play.
A hidden gem worth the drive
There’s ample landing room in the fairways for your drive. The fairways have nice grass to cushion the ball a bit. The greens are not overly punishing, but have some slope and fairly fast.
Several of the holes border lakes, so your drives have to be fairly straight.
An outstanding layout, that challenges, the average golfer and rewards great shots.
