About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Wrong course reviewed! I apologize.
I apologize about the last review I wrote. It was meant to be for Schalamar Creek golf course and NOT Sandpiper. I have not played this course yet this year but from what I remember the course and what friends have told me, the course is in great shape! I can’t figure out how to delete a review so again, I apologize about giving a bad review.

Used to be nice
Haven’t played this course in several years but it used to be a pretty decent course. It is now one of the worst courses I’ve played in a long time. I don’t know what happened or why they let this course fall as far as it did but it is disappointing.

Good greens, fairways and tee boxes. Cool course layout.
Interesting design that puts you near the clubhouse three times. Back nine has some very challenging holes. 3-4 holes with water hazards.
Lots of singles playing this day, teamed up with a couple of them to have a fun round.
Bring your own drinks/cooler.
Definitely would play again.

Fun Course
Got a deal for $20 greens in good shape course conditions looked good greens not fast medium speed crowded but Expected on a Saturday played in 4 hours got a good meal after round in the clubhouse will be back

Enjoyable course if you have realistic expectations
This course was affordable and enjoyable. Nice folks all around whether they were employees or players.
However, the layout is just plain weird. The main issue though is the pace of play. We started late because there were no carts. Yet, you can pay $10 extra to ride as a single. Seems like that option should be eliminated since there aren’t enough carts on the property. We started late and we’re backed up all day as a result.
It’s mystifying that management would invest in such nice amenities as ample parking, a great bar/restaurant and friendly staff, yet let the golfers day get completely, negatively impacted by the cart situation.

Nice friendly round
Was paired up with 2 guys and had a great round. Tee time was 8 AM got right out. Boxes and greens in nice condition greens ran well. Not fast but not slow. A couple of bare spots on fairway but assume that is par for the course this time of year. In totality was very well kept up. Guy in pro shop was nice and ad an enjoyable round.

Sandpiper
Really enjoyed this round of golf. The staff members were friendly and helpful. We started behind two slower players, it appeared that one was helping his buddy learn the game (we were all there once), but after waiting for a while we went by to let them know that we were going on ahead and starting on hole 2, they were good with that. The course is in good shape, the tee boxes were good but the greens were excellent, there are fairway areas where the grass is sparse but overall I was very pleased. I like the layout; though some fairways are narrow. Definitely recommend this course.

Play here all the time
This is the best course around for the money. The greens are always in great shape. The course holds water better than any Florida course around here. Yes, a few of the fairways on the back are pretty bad. They are constantly trying to fix. It does play a little slow at times. This is mostly due to the front being short. If you drive the ball 260+, you will probably wait some. Anyone saying the greens are bad are just lying. Some people are just unrealistic. They want to pay $30 and expect high end golf.
