About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Local Knowledge NB.
We played the course paired with another first time player. The layout strongly favours local knowledge. Surprisingly it is referred to as a links style course. I grew up in the home of links golf and find the reference a bit of a stretch.. The greens are quite good and the sand traps well kept. It would be helpful if a blower were used to clear leaves from the fairways. I have indicated that I would recommend the course to a "friend". I qualify this to mean a friend who is a reasonably good golfer.

Very slow. 6 hour round!!!!
We waited on every shot. There were 4 groups on the first tee waiting to tee off. There was no starter. It was horrible. 6 hour round and we didn't play the last 2 holes. Will mever go back.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. This course is interesting and challenging, but the experience is marred by 7-minute tee time intervals that are broken before you get off the first tee; and the placement of 3 Par-3 holes per side, no starter or marshals. 2:45 to play the front side. . Better once the 9-hole groups finished.
It’s in the middle of 1200 retirement homes, and more being built along the closing holes. The players and members I encountered were friendly and helpful, and knew etiquette and courtesy.

chaos golf
if you're looking for a Course, that's chaotic go here. That's all I can say, golf balls flying everywhere. You practically need a helmet. We almost got hit three times just on nine holes. Wish I could say something good about it, it used to be a decent course, but then they decided to squeeze all those homes in on the other side, and again wear your helmet.

Not long but good value
Conditions were good, although grass around greens was a little sparse on a number of holes. Pace was decent, finished under 4 hours. Liked the layout on the back nine except for the last two holes. Staff friendly, no driving range but practice nets available.

Slow and not Marshalled
Reasonable layout. Dry. Lots of rolll. Very very slow. No points if booked through golf now and payment at course only. Not sure I will return

Great staff. Perfect greens and tee boxes. Great value for the price point. It’s the busy season so it was a 4 1/2 hour round?! But if you haven’t played here lately, it’s much improved.
