Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Old Guy Golfin!
Greens and tee boxes were excellent. Fairways were in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow buy we were a twosome so that has a bit to do with it. Not a long course but green are small which makes it a bit more challenging.

Sandpipers
Liked the course and found it was a pleasant afternoon. A links style course that was not too punishing if you were a bit off the fairways.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.

Enjoyable and unusual
Some very good holes on front nine.
Back nine has some very tricky holes but they give you a guide sheet for this on check in.
For a shortish course by modern standards the back nine especially is a good test of golf.

Fun round
We really enjoyed playing Sandpipers, the course is a bit quirky in places and the cart paths are in need of some repair but we only paid about $25 a person so mustn’t be too critical. The tees and greens were in good condition, staff were friendly, which all made for a very pleasurable round.

A Tale of Two Halves
First of all Sandpiper has to be one of the best value rounds in the area!! Course really is in great condition with good fairways and lovely smooth greens. Got a friendly welcome in the pro shop and allowed to head off early. Maybe should have been concerned when handed a sheet for the holes on the back nine ‘as they can be a bit tricky!!’ Club should have a starter on busy days as folks were heading off down the first as soon as groups out of range - this meant things were backed up for the whole round. Loved the first nine holes which were varied and enjoyable to play. The back nine less so as they were just too quirky for my taste with the 16th hard to fathom - not sure if there is a fairway on this par 5 !!

Great Course
We love playing this course. The course is well maintained, but do wish they would do some work on the cart paths because are very bumpy!

I played Sandpiper today. Very unimpressed. But more importantly, I saw a Golfnow hot deal for $15.99 while driving to the course. I asked the pro about the rate and tee time then charged me $28 the typical rate. I don't like conflict, my issue, so I paid the $28 bucks. Then I find out after the round that Golfnow had the whole afternoon at $24 bucks. Well, they got $10 bucks out of me but they also got this review. I am in the area a lot visiting my elderly parents, but I won't be back to this course, other courses in the area are nicer for the same price. I guess they are doing well enough to screw their customers. This one ain't going back and I recommend you move on to another course. $28 buck for that crappy course?...ever again for me and hopefully you.

Fun To Play
Good deal on GolfNow tee boxes, fairways and greens looked good except #16 fairway under repair clubhouse nice inside good food staff very friendly no issues with anything I’ve played here many time before and after the recent changes I’m fine with the new layout on the back seen lots of complaints about if your a long hitter not being able to hit driver on 14,16 and 17 no matter what club u still have to hit the shot if u seen how it looked 5 years ago this wouldn’t be a big deal

Where do you start…
It was definitely a 50/50 experience. First, there is no driving range, just a mesh net “batters cage”. The practice green was small but did the job. The second issue was the need for carts. They had two leagues earlier, than a scramble. There was literally a crowd waiting for carts. Keep in mind, half the people in the scramble have their own carts because they live there. So l finally got a cart about an hour later. They’re old, gas, no GPS or USB. They have me go off on the back. I put one straight down the middle. I’m thinking - what a great way to start a round. Nope, l get back in the cart and it won’t start. So l have to wait for another cart. So l finally get going and l pair up with a guy from OH. But we didn’t go anywhere. There was a sixsome in front of us. Can’t make that up y’all… The cart paths are terrible. It’s a short course. The card says about 6,000 yards from the tips, but they moved all the tips up. Probably closer to 5,800 yards. And they try to “lengthen” the course with these stupid looking man-made ponds to bottleneck the fairways. The positive, the course is in pretty good shape, and the greens were fantastic. Probably some of the best I’ve seen in the greater Orlando region. They actually rolled like a 10-10.5. The front even has a lot of elevation changes. Even some blind shots (that l personally hate). The back is much flatter. It’s just a quirky layout. And l have no clue where the “Links” comes from. A tip, l think you’d have to play it at least 2-3 times before you got a good idea how to play each hole. I don’t think l would drive 30-40 minutes again to play it. Only if l was already in the area on a whim.

Course suffering in places, particularly the back 9
After the work that has been put into the course it was a shame to see the back 9 in particular suffering. It needs a lot of seeding as many bare patches
