South Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club

Big Cy is one of the best courses in the Central Florida Market for the Money! Staff is the Best, Course is always in great conditions and the greens are impeccable.

Price was for 2 of us as I played with my wife, who is a beginner, but plays well. We were paired with a local member and played through a 4-some on the 4th or 5th hole. We let him go ahead after 9, and we played the back-nine like VERY private course as saw no one!! Late afternoon tee time - LOTS of folks at the pools. Looks like active community. This is one place where the pre-manufactured homes hide the great value of the golf course. Would definitely return. Good course and great value.

This is my second visit to Big cypress. This course gets my juices flowing. It is scenic and tranquil. As you weave through the course., you get a feeling that you are taking a walk through the woods. Course is in great condition. Greens are running about 10 on the stimpmeter. Overall a fantastic day of golf on a beautiful course. Highly recommend.

Played on a Sunday afternoon with my wife. Paired with very nice local ‘sunbird’ resident. As others have stated, don’t let the housing fool you. Unlike Shalimar Creek, this place is the real deal. Could play here every day and not get bored or disappointed. Good layout, interesting design, good all around conditions. Greens very good shape. Seems like lots of resident players, as many, many owner carts. Late afternoon great time to play as little play so sort of have the place to yourselves. Let the resident go on his own after nine, and never saw anyone else the hole back nine. I’d like to see a mixture of Black and Teal tees, which is what I’ll play next time. For sure there will be a next time during March stay in FL.

Excellent condition with smooth fast greens. The members take good care of their course and are justifiably proud of it. Saw very few pitch marks, and fixed mine plus one. Just shows how good the greens can be when everyone does this. I’ve added this course to my favorites list. Staff seemed glad to have us.

If the starter would have told the threesome I was scheduled to play with "I can't send a single out." That simple. Instead, on an afternoon where the course was filled with threesomes and foursomes, I waited and waited on every hole, every shot. No fault of the people in front of me. It's just hard to play as a single in that situation.

The starter didn't seem all that excited to be working, and when I told him I'd be stuck in the middle of a bunch of groups if he didn't just tell the threesome I was scheduled with them he replied, "Sorry, just take your time." Ya. Thanks.

The greens were very good, the layout interesting, the day, boring and slow. I'd go back but I'd hope things worked out differently.

I have lived in Lakeland for 3 years and try to play a lot of different courses. This is absolutely the best course that I have played here

Our group plays every weekend within an hour drive of Tampa. Big Cypress currently has the best greens in the area.

The other conditions were great as well. The layout is challenging, and quite enjoyable for a Ron Garl design through the swamps of Florida.

Staff was friendly, and the locals treated us nicely. Go play here ASAP before the summer maintenance season.

Better greens than any of the Disney courses by a mile and 1/4 the price. Its a great golf course and the staff was welcoming, friendly and informative!

We have been in Orlando for 10 days playing mainly all top courses, Disney courses included, and this course was not a hidden gem its a Diamond. Excellent conditions and staff to boot, never mind it cost us 1/3 !!

Great lay out, good condition, especially considering the amount of rain received the last two days. Because of the wet conditions had to stay on cart path only leading to much walking, but was still very playable. Enjoyable day.

How often do we rate a Ranger with complements? I do at Big Cypress South. It was subtle but knowing I was new to the course, he guided me beforehand and got me slotted so that I played in well under 4 hours. The community is also a friendly one but I’m sure they run their entire operation very efficiently. On the golf side, the zoysia greens were notable compared to others I’ve played at premier prices. Plenty of water hazards too.

Great mix of holes. Beautiful putting greens. Will endeavor to play again as soon as possible It was a cool day so the pace of play was unimpeded. Looking forward to my return soon.
