Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Over Crowded and Poor Pricing for What You Get
I wanted a fun and friendly day out on the course with my son, but instead we got to a course that was overcrowded, and we were forced to pair up with another group. When I am expected to pay the amount of money they’re asking and I sign up for a twosome with my son to have a good day out, I do not expect to be paired with another group, and I certainly do not expect the course to be so overcrowded that we can’t even finish our 18 holes before it’s too dark to finish. Extremely disappointed in what I got for the money I paid.
Over charged
I was refunded from the pro shop because I didn’t play. Starter made 2 singles join in a cart. Nothing better than sitting shoulder to shoulder with a stranger. It’s ok to play with strangers but being forced to ride together is terrible. The whole deal is awkward…small talk, who’s ball to go to first, no music, etc. it’s not pleasant. Get more carts or don’t allow singles to book a tee time. Pro shop refunded me and then golfnow sent me an email letting me know they were going to charge me at the request of the pro shop. There are enough great courses in the area. Will look at the paradise card instead of golfnow golf pass going forward.
Post Tropical Storm Still Great
Played with buddies the day after Hurricane Nicole. It was wet but not as bad as I have seen after heavy rain on other courses. Still played great, lost some shots to mud and puddles, but still had a blast. Excited to come back soon for a dry round, course was great, pro shop and restaurant were great.
Great course and layout.. just unfortunate we had to play right after a storm so the course was soaked.. will definitely come back to play again when the conditions will be better
stay in the fairway
Pro shop and staff were so friendly. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were in decent shape but the outer fringe around the greens are brutal, either this is the design or maybe they are leaving it long? Don't go off the fairway. Pace of play was slow do to a very slow 4 old guy group. Morning tee time
Pairings and pace of play
Never can understand why singles and doubles aren't paired up to help with pace.
Very nice
We felt the course was in good shape. Lots of undulations in the fairways and greens. Bunkers are firm. The biggest issue was areas that were very wet, I would guess a drainage issue caused by the undulation. It does have a range for a fee and the carts have gps
Drainage issue ?
I will start by saying I would play here again. The conditions were mostly good, except many areas were pretty soft or muddy. This course has lots of undulations in the fairways and greens. The greens were in great shape, the fairways were pretty good except the areas where water must pool. It may be a non issue in dry season. They do have a range and putting/chipping area. Balls for the range are extra but a minimal fee. GPS on the carts. Course feels like it plays longer than the yardage
Great Course
This is such a good course. The track was great!!! The conditions were great!! If I had to nit-pick, there are certain low areas around tees and greens that are really soft (but thats normal down here) and right now the rough is fairly thick (a couple times I walked right by my ball and never saw it) its not a complaint just an observation for you. The cart paths were in good shape and clean. The golf carts were very comfortable with tinted windshields, USB charges, rakes attached, and GPS with Bluetooth connectivity ( I still have to work when I’m playing so it was really nice to be able to keep my phone plugged in and charging instead of being worried about the battery)
Nice driving range, smallish putting green, they have music playing over some speakers around the clubhouse and putt putt course which is really nice (yes they have a nice non-obtrusive putt putt course!).
If you wanted to know something they could improve at…. There are not ball washers on the tees, and unless I totally missed them, there are no water coolers or water/ice machines at the restrooms.
Great place though and I’m glad I found it and will absolutely play again. So much better than some other courses that charge more, they care here and it shows, that’s what matters.
Great greens
That’s about the only good thing I can say. The staff is friendly, the course is ok but not what it’s all hyped up to be. The pace of play was terrible and nobody let you play through or got mad when you tried or asked. Very open fairways, hard sand bunker’s wasn’t very pleased with the course at all and again it’s hyped up to be 1of the best in area but I wasn’t impressed and doubt I will play there again. I didn’t feel it was worth the money.
Great Course but very wet
I played this course last week and unfortunately we have had A LOT of rain in the area. Fortunately, I was able to get through my round but the course was drenched and was 90* rule for the whole course. I did notice several drains throughout the course to drain water but there was just too much to reasonably drain off. The bunkers were filled with at least a foot of water. They had several pumps pumping water off of the course to keep it playable. I can’t fault the course or it’s management for it’s conditions. Being in Florida, a wet course in the summer is “par for the course” it is a occupational hazard of playing golf in FL. I do have one thing against this course.. pace of play was HORRIBLE. I started my around at about 9:30ish and didn’t finish until after 2pm! Good thing it was my birthday and playing golf was the only thing I had planned. All in all I would play this course again but maybe on a Tuesday or Thursday when it might not be as busy or a twilight round.
Awesome
Best course in the area. I’ve played Heritage isles, Fox Hollow etc and this blows them away. By far the best course maintenance and you can tell they invest people and resources to maintain its great standards. Greens run true and good speed. Picked this as the last course of the vacation and wish I had played it first and many more times. Can’t believe it’s not rated much much higher. Trust me and play it and see for yourself.
You must not be an avid golfer if you are upset about getting paired up with someone. That is standard protocol unless course is empty.
