Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Value for the fun
Great layout and greens were excellent. Fairways firm and fast. Need water or drinks on course. Pace was decent. Great value as course continues to come back from closure. GPS in carts was excellent
Nice day of golf
We went out late Sunday and the course was packed. I believe the tee times may be too crushed together, as groups were stacked on the tee box. It made for a very slow day. Otherwise, good course and good condition. Best golf carts in the area so far.
Carts 5 stars
Carts are 5 stars, staff was very accommodating had to change tee time due to weather, informed me that there was a group of60 going off soon, allowed us to go out before them; played in 3hours
Not worth full price
greens are average for high volume public course. fairways are ok to under average condition. off the fairway the bunkers, rough and other areas are in poor condition.
Some good, some bad
Decent layout, greens rolled pretty well are the good.
The bad: range balls look 20 years old. No sand in traps. Front 9 played at a decent pace, back 9 took almost 3 hours, and the group in front of us only played front 9, so back should have been faster. I saw a Ranger driving around a couple times but apparently they said nothing to the four guys in front of us who are having casual conversations on the Teebox with no one in front of them, while we were wrapping up on the green behind them and waiting every hole. Nice new carts but surprised they got gas, not electric.
1 bottle of soda from bev girl: $4.25!
Place could be really good but needs to do a few things first.
Doomed from the start
Round took over 5 hours, conditions weren't good. Bunkers rock hard, very sparce in the fairways, greens were decent.
Layout was very good - fairways were terrible - never had any significant amount of grass under the ball . Obviously a shortage of water . - greens rolled very well - bottom line fairways were awful - not a big advantage being in the fairway . Staff was great
Only issue that I have at Plantation Palms is the pace of play. There is no one monitoring the pace of play , which is very frustrating. Course gets a lot of play, which is great, but myself and others have not completed our rounds due to slow play.
Plantation Palms-Awesome
Great golf course in awesome condition. Greens are very fast and the staff is outstanding, friendly and I wish other courses would copy their customer service.
Andrew is the Director of Golf goes out of his way to make sure you are enjoying your golf.
I play a number of courses every month but I enjoy our rounds here the most.
Don’t ever play twilight
I don’t know what happened to this staff after they got their new carts, but they must think they’re a high end course. My buddy and I scheduled a T Time for 3:32 yesterday, and the started allow a 3some and 2 singles (walking) to hit ahead of us, even though they had a later T time (I confirmed this while talking to them on the second T box as they were the slowest group ever). It was a bunch of college kids who couldn’t care less about pace of play… juggling balls walking off the green, hitting their crappy T shots that landed on the womens Ts while my group, and the 2 groups behind us all waited on the T box. I asked the starter if there was anyway we could start on 10, since we clearly saw nobody had driven to 10 in 20+ minutes. All he did was stare at me with a “wtf are you thinking” face.
I’m a fan of this course layout, but the pace of play here is atrocious. The starters don’t care if you paid for 18 and can barely get 9 in… won’t be playing here for a long time due to the lack awareness / care of the customer that we all just want a fun round after work.
Carts were cool though, someone is definitely going to crash one at some point - those things have some speed to them now.

New to area & 1st time @ this course. Not a big fan of no carts in parking lot. I'm a bit of a slow poke. I know it's to prevent outside coolers; but I don't do that. I just have stuff. Clubs, shoes, speaker, towels & water bottles which are necessary for cleaning clubs & lack of ball washers @ many golf courses. Just easier to do @ the car. Showed up early. Was paired up with a great guy (Willard) who was a regular. Gave me a lot of insight on the local public golf scene. Plus course / holes info. Tee'd off early. Pace of play was good for about 12-14 holes. Then it slowed down , but nothing extreme. We were yakking & didn't really notice the slow down too much. Despite playing bad, I loved the course. Great condition & lay out. Greens were fast & true. Bunkers, tee-boxes, fairways & the new carts were excellent. Really enjoyed the round. I inquired about their membership programs. 2 of them. Both would work for me if I ended up living in that area. Very happy, I'll definitely be back.
This course has a fantastic layout.
I hadn’t played this course in over a year because conditions were poor. But now the course is in great shape. The greens were fast and in great condition. The fairways were the best I’ve seen since I stated playing here 8 years ago. I will be playing this course on a regular basis now.
Beautiful
The course was challenging yet a great layout for intermediate players. Loved everything about the course
Poor experience
Starter was not friendly or helpful at start of round. Gave no introduction of course nor did he ask if we ever played there before. We were keeping pace with the group in front of us….. but on 6-7th hole 2 groups skipped a hole and went right in front of us only to wait. Called the pro shop and someone came out and did nothing about it. Apparently players can drive around and play any holes they want. This happened again on back 9. Course was in poor condition, dead, burnt fairways. No need to play here ever again.
