Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Growing in nicely!
Couldn’t be more happy for these guys that the course is coming back and looking so good. They found my sweater left over in a cart and called me to tell me to come back and get it. I’ve left things in carts a dozen or more times and never experienced that before. Will definitely be back.
Playing golf at Plantation Palms
It's a great golf course. The layout is great. Fairways and Greens are in great condition. Staff are very professional and friendly. The price is reasonable.
Management
Was very unhappy with the new management. Sure we were a tad early for our tee time. So were the
2 some one spot ahead of us. They got their cart key, but ohhh nooo we could not have a cart key nor load up our bags on the cart till 10-15 min before our tee time although the course was not busy,
Sure the course is in better shape than last year, we gave the course plenty of money last year to play on conditions that were not even satisfactory. This management was not there last year so he was not aware of that or he would have served us better!
Great value
Challenging course with a great layout! Fairways were in good shape and was a great place to play for the cost.
RGC
I very much liked the course. It was in good condition except some spots on the greens. A little more time and care and those spots will be gone. I will play there again.
Pat
Glad to see this course start to come back . One of the best layouts in the area just needs more time after being closed for so long. Greens are very hard but in good shape, maintenance work is still needed to control weeds in fairways and rough area. Overseed on tee boxes is coming in nicely and by springtime this course will be a gem again. Will definitely be back!
Long Tough Boring Course
Not my type of Golf course many Difficult Holes too long for me . Long hitters will enjoy this golf course .Course in good condition With Nice Greens , Staff is Friendly LONG par 3’s
This course is getting better every week
The course has dried out from July and August rains, course is cut, greens are great. The restaurant finally finished building the extension and it is so great to sit out on the balcony overlooking the ninth and 18th greens after play. Very challenging course. Unique to Florida
Plantation Palms condition
Taking into consideration that this course was closed for a couple of years and overgrown and in horrible shape when they decided to re-open, they have worked really hard to get it into shape. That said, it still needs more work. The rains haven't helped either. They can't now the rough because of how soft the ground is. Lost balls happen a lot because of the rough. Now, for the good. The greens for the most part are coming along nicely, but still need work. Tee boxes are better than expected as well. Fairways need work and so do the sand traps. It will be a great place to play once they get it into shape because the track is a good design.
Fairways need mowed
Very nice layout....a lot of water, but disappointed in condition.....they should close the course for a week and get the fairways mowed.....lost 3 new chrome golf balls IN THE FAIRWAY......could not find distance markers in fairway....
Poor Condition, maybe should not be open for play?
Have played the course a couple of times since it opened late 2016, today was by far the worst shape the course has been in. Hurricane Irma came through a couple of weeks ago and there has been some rain lately but other courses have had to deal with the same weather and are in much better condition. I knew we were in trouble when the gentlemen at the counter this morning told us course conditions have deteriorated since last we played. It wasn't just one facet of the course, it was everything, the fairways were like playing from the rough, lost three balls hitting it down the middle of the fairway. The bunkers were overgrown with weeds and washed out, the greens were infested with weeds and disease plus had not been cut. There was no fringe around the greens, if ball rolled through the green you were in US Open rough! If you did get a bit offline with your shots you would not find the ball. I will not go back to play this course.
Unplayable
First and foremost, I love this layout and you can see they are trying and this will be a fantastic course. But this course in it's present condition is unplayable both literally and figuratively. This is the second time playing since they re-opened, the first we were in the middle of the worst drought in a long time so the lack of fairways was forgivable, couldn't wait to play the course again after the rainy season and see all the fairways grown in, that didn't happen. The course was 100 times worse, most the fairways are completely dead, something really bad happened, bugs? over fertilization? something. But what grass there is, boy, is it bad. We really did lose balls in the fairways and 3 of them less than 10 yards off greens. There weren't a lot of people on the course so we had plenty of time to look. All par 5's have temporary tees 100 - 200 yards from the green, which takes a beautiful layout and makes this course into a really bad glorified par 3 course. Even at a 'discounted' price of 25, that is WAY too much. After how much rain we got over the summer, I was expecting much, much, much more. For something good to say... a couple of the greens were in very good shape, and you can see work being done, but this course is many months away from being at least playable. The tenth hole was in the best shape, and you can see what a wonderful course this will turn into. Maybe just play the 10th 18 times. Oh and for the guy who yelled at me for 1 wheel on the very edge of his yard #literally 6 inches off the cart path, we stopped for the cart girl# hate to break this to you, YOU LIVE ON A GOLF COURSE! get over it!
Course is in horrible condition!!!
Great staff very friendly, and great food also. The course is in really bad shape. Fairways have no grass on them and the rough is so high you will lose your ball 1 foot off the Fairways. Fairway and green riughs need to be cut down they are ridiculously high. You will lose lots of balls 5 feet off the green. The layout of the course is great but i wish this course was is good condition. Do not play here, save your money until the course is in better shape.
Not quite ready for play
Course layout is nice but defintely not in a good condition for consistent play. Fairways on several holes needs to grow in. Green we're ok though. Needs some time to mature. Will return once it grows in.
Save your money - for now
This course is in TERRIBLE condition. At the rate of recovery, since it re-opened, unless someone takes charge, this place is destined for failure. and that is too bad, because it does have a nice lay-out.
Getting better all the time
Still developing. The layout of this course is wonderful and challenging, so interesting. For us seniors, some of the holes are more suitable to have bogey as a goal like holes 16 and 18, just too long. Yet there are enough shorter holes where great hits will be rewarded. I really like this course ! Now conditions are only fair. When the wet season starts in June, hopefully the Bermuda grass will fill in on the fairways. Also the greens were so fuzzy, my guess at 8 on the Stimpmeter which is darn slow, like the 1950s green where you see the old timers pounding their putts. Hopefully as the grass on the greens get better, they'll start cutting them closer. The price is a bit low to make some allowance for course conditions. But to be clear, even with all that, I'll be back next week.
Great layout!
One of the most fun courses I have played. The condition was a bit rough after months without rain, but still a lot of fun!
You get a lot of privacy on every hole and it was just perfectly challenging for me and my boogey golf.
Great place to play!
Great layout
Having just reopened the end of 2016, The course conditions are improving and will only get better after the summer growing season.
hope it rains soon to speed up the recovery
the owners are doing everything they can to redeem this layout. but lack of rain in the past several months is making that difficult. hope they can keep things together until the rainy season is upon us.
layout is difficult but can be interesting for most everyone except beginners.....
Gettin there
Course is coming back. You can see it's fairly early in the process, and they'd benefit a lot from some rain. That said, it's an interesting layout, the greens are fast and roll true, and the people there are nice. Will definitely be back and I'm looking forward to seeing the course grow into itself.
