Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Great features
Greens very fast for golfer amateur but with practice on exercise
green, very good. The practice green and 18 other have same speed.
Tough course
Wide fairways but plenty of water and tress while the greens are slippery.
Greens are elevated and require one club extra or more to carry,Fairways were very tight and require focused chipping.Pickers versus divot taker have
Good value for the money. Tough but fair. Long carries to elevated greens.
An excellent test of golf.
The course and greens have been greatly improved with just
a few exceptions of sand on the greens. Not enough on course control from the marshall even after the front desk was called
about a group of 7 (that's right seven) players jumped onto
the course at hole 10 and played together as a group. 7 players - 4 practive swings each - 2 or three OBs - you get the idea. Turned a 3.5 hour round into a 4.5 round. Very dissappointing.
Slowest round in 7 years
I love to play Plantation Palms. Great layout and usually good shape. The last few times we played it, the starter and people in the pro shop remarked how full they were. Of course they do their best to keep getting people teed off. Yesterday took the cake. We had a 1:12 tee time. Showed up and there were no carts available. We had to wait about 20 minutes before we could get a cart while the starter was still pressing us to get going. After two holes, we hit a dead end. There were four groups on every tee box. We saw a ranger on the fourth tee and he said he would speed it up. We had a terrible afternoon. We got to the 14th hole in almost 5 hours. We decided to pack it in and go home. It was about to get dark and we would have never made it. That course gets tons of play. Stop trying to nickel and dime it so you can have over 200 people on the course at one time. While we like playing the course, it will probably be our last trip. 5+ hour rounds are not worth it.
Great layout with hazard carries, makes course management key
This course continues to have a challenging layout for golfers of all skills. During high season, pace of play becomes a problem on some days because less skilled golfers do not move up to tees they can handle. The course rangers need to address that issue.
Very Slow
Took almost 5 hours to play. Course was in descent shape. Good price. Beer was cold.
Good Course.
Tee boxes are getting a little chewed up but the fairways and greens are in great shape. Very nice course.
Bargain, fun, friendly.
Friendly staff. Course in great shape. Front a little more difficult than back. Good bargain.
Solid for the rate
Went to Plantation Palms for the first time through a golfnow.com hot deal. Rate was around $22 per person--which you really can't beat for winter tampa golf.
Course was well maintained and they know where they need to add focus. They had people doing repairs and throwing down green fertilizer all over the place.
Greens rolled nicely, nothing too fast, probably 8.5s.
Course has some fun holes, nothing very long and rewarding fairways if you hit them.
My only complaint would be they jammed in a lot of houses around the course...more than usual. It distracts a bit however, the course in and of itself was enjoyable.
good value
good design, greens very good, course in good condition.
The pace of play is very good. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Tee boxes and bunkers were in okay condition.

Great course, elevated & fast greens. A great challenge for a golfer that shoots in the 90's.
The tee-boxes, fairways and greens were in awesome condition. The greens were pretty quick and in great condition; greens were probably running around a 10 or an 11. The course was challenging for a golfer like myself, who normally shoots in the low to mid 90's, but was fun none-the-less.
Great course for the price
Greens were in great shape ...pace of play was perfect staff was friendly..all in all it was worth every penny definitely will recommend this course to my friends
A Favorite
One of my favorite courses in the area. Can't beat it fo rthe $$ either.
Good variety of holes
The course has several "signature holes" The par 3 7th, the par 4's 8 & 18 and the par 5 13th will test all of your shot making skills. Many of the greens are elevated and require accurate approach shots. If you do not hit a lot of greens in regulation you will need a variety of short game shots to get up and down to save par.
The wind was blowing when I played and the course plays very long from the white tees when this happens. I am a 10 handicap and felt lucky to score 86. They went through a rough summer /fall weather wise here, but the course has come back nicely although the greens were a bit slower than usual
Histroically very nice track but needs improvement.
Staff was friendly and accomodating - I booked on golf now but had to push it back a couple hours w/ no problem. They are trying to fix the course but I don't think they have enough money. Just overseeded fairways and saw one guy working to fill in dead areas with fertilized sand. There are drainage issues b/c lots of course was very wet even though no rain lately. Greens were maintained but way slower than in the past. Bring the anvil. Call course for rates becasuse not matching golf now. My 45% discount hot deal was what everyone paid at the course. Good deal for $25 but not for $40. No beverage cart on Tues afternoon.
Greens in rough shape
Similar to putting on a fairway. Worst condition I have seen these greens. Unfortute because I like the course and conditions are usually consistent.
this course is an excellent layout. Every hole is a challenge. Loads of fun
I love this course. The layout is awesome. It'. s in great shape now, but the greens are a little hairy because they are getting the course ready for winter. The efforts of the workers was visible during play. This course is going to be a gem very soon.
It's almost there now.
You should plan on playing this course. I think you will become a regular.
Very Happy Golfer
Course needs attention
The fairways were mediocre, tee boxes and greens in terrible shape.
