Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Fabulous golf course!
Beautiful Golf Course, fabulous layout and very challenging. Lots of undulations, bunkers and water hazards. Although the area had gotten lots and lots of rain, the course was in excellent condition. I would highly recommend it, with one exception. The ranger tried his best to speed up the three horribly slow foursomes in front of our foursome, but was unsuccessful. Total time of play... 5 hours 15 minutes... grueling to take that long.
Great course, non existent staff?
This is my first experience at Plantation Palms and, based on the course condition alone, it was fantastic! The greens are in excellent shape and the fairways are perfect. My trouble was with the rest of the experience. I reccomend this course with some trepidation ...
With no starter around, it was basically when you are ready, go! Problem here is that now you have chaos on the course. No control whatsoever over pace of play, Two twosomes that could have made a foursome did not, a single and a twosome that could be a three, was not. In other words, everybody held everyone up and what could have been a very enjoyable round of golf was not. The pro shop was empty, there was absolutely no stock of any kind and the attendant, less than friendly. Of course do I need to say there was no starter? The golf course, the condition and the layout deserve a better staff than what was present June 28th.
Great Value
Course was in very good shape, especially considering how little we paid to play
Love the course. but the greens are in need of some work, and the proshop was empty.
Thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf.Fairways are in good shape, but the greens are in need of work ,and the proshop was completely empty. I couldn't even buy a golf ball for my son's collection. When I asked if I could come back in a couple weeks to get one. They said they probably wouldn't have them by then either. Overall fun course but disappointed in greens and proshop.
Total let down...from a high recommendation!
I was told of this course by the two some I joined when I played Seven Hills Golf Club. Their recommendation for this course was very high. I had been prepared for a great round. The Golf Now had a tee time for more than 56% off. I had a great deal, great warm up facility, but the course was in poor condition to play! The greens had been aerated WITH sand a week prior. They were impossible to read, putt or decide which mogul to bounce off of to putt. The layout is great, but the soggy conditions were a force to recon with. The GPS was off, too. Having not played the course before, I was unaware of the common place of the residents. Literally some tee boxes are 10 yards from kids screaming on your back swing! There were kids fishing in the ponds without getting out of the way. There were kids practicing on the greens. I will never play this course (if ever!) during the summer or a weekend again. I would give it a month to allow the course to heal properly should you dare. There should have been a warning from Golf Now about the course's condition! I didn't play Silverthorn Country Club because they were aerated recently. At least, their residents know how to behave on the course.
OOPS
Alright. I have wanted to play this course for almost a decade but its out of my price range until June 4th. I was shocked when I got there as I have been told it was one of the nicest courses in the area. The club house was just empty shelves. The course had garbage all over it. They had just ariated the greens so couldn't hold that against them. There was no ranger or starter. They obviously don't care about time of play as it took me over 3 hours to play the front 9. But it started to rain and I waited for about a half an hour and watched everyone leave the course so I continued in the rain since I have wanted to play this course for almost a decade. I played the last nine by myself in just under an hour so was happy I got to play the whole course. The course itself is set up really nice with extremely wide fairways and is very pretty. Hopefully they get whatever the problem is taken care of for they're sake.
straighforward holes, wide fairways, well maintained, great value
They had just arified the greens so we got great rates. Wide fairways where you almost always knew what was needed on all shots. 9 and 18 are great ending holes. Overall a good experience with easy to moderate difficulty.
Nice layout
Very nice course, in good shape. Challenging and difficult layout but very fun to play. Need good tee shots if want to score your average here. Will certainly love to okay it again.
Well maintained
It is well worth the money. Great course. It's a little secret treasure in Land O lAkes.
Nice layout and challenging
Plantation Palms is a well-maintained, interesting golf course. Wildlife is abundant. Several holes over water will challenge you.
Challenging track
Nice challenging layout with more elevation than most florida courses. Nice clubhouse restaurant.
A bit overpriced but would play again if discounted.
Greens are somewhat slow and need some work. Quite a few greens have large patches of sand not marked as ground under repair.
Course was in great shape
Course was in great shape. Not crowded, surprised that we were not held up at any of 18 holes. Had a late lunch after the round - food was great.
This course is lady friendly.
This course credited me for halfway decent shots. Delightful afternoon.
Challenging for all levels.
Due to handicapped individual in our group we played from the gold, which perceivably lessened the degree of difficulty. However, even some of the gold tees were plenty difficult. Would like to play it again from longer tees.
Slow Play
Course conditions seem to be improving but the pace of play made things tuff. 5 hours for a threesome can ruin the best round!
Good Value
Course was in overall pretty good shape. Greens were all rolling true but there were a few fairways that really needed some TLC. Driving range was VERY busy and the grass showed that. Starter was very professional and offered some great tips on the course. GPS in carts was a nice touch as well.
The layout is great. The greens were in good shape but the fairways could be improved.
Four stars. The fairways need attention. I have always enjoyed playing the course. However, the last couple of years, the course has deteriorated.
Bring every part of your game. Be ready to enjoy yourself.
Challenging course. I just started golfing regularly again after a 2-3 year hiatus. This course tested every part of my rusty game. Sand traps played true. The greens were quite fast and also played as they read. The course required the use of the full range of my clubs including the dreaded driver. I tend to rely on my irons but could not get by with just them on this course. Definitely a fun course to play.
The course design is quite intersting since there are sufficient variations in landscape to provide for a pleasant round even though the course is built into a residential community. The are also multiple beautiful views of the local wildlife.
Oh and by the way, I may be biased because I probably played my finest golf on this course. Nevertheless the course itself is a lovely place to play a round of golf.
Fairways were somewhat hard so although it made it difficult to make long chip shots your ball rolled forever on the drive.
A fun course to play with a good variety of challenging holes. Skill level of most player seemed to be good so pace of play was good. No waiting around for ball hunting players. Very nice amenities in the clubhouse. Cart is provided with a built in cooler and two bottles of iced down water.
Nice Challenge
Greens were just repaired for summer but were still good
