The Club at Venetian Bay
About
The Club at Venetian Bay is part of a unique residential community with a Mediterranean theme. Colorful buildings, mosaics, and Mediterranean vegetation surround the championship golf course. The biggest challenge for the designers was transforming what was formerly a cow pasture into a lush, challenging course. The design team of Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton seemed to have little trouble doing so. The front nine plays through the woods while the back nine is more open with a few links-style touches. The most prominent feature of this golf course is the abundance of sand bunkers. There are more than 100 strategically placed throughout. The bunkers present a formidable test but they are nicely balanced with ample landing areas. They are also geared more towards low handicappers, which means they aren't intended to kill your round.

Venetian bay review
Was down in the area and decided to give Venetian Bay a try. Greeted by a cart guy, think his name was Dave, who spotted my Ontario plate and asked where I was from. Turns out he’s a Canadian transplant and was quite familiar with where I’m from. Was nice to be made to feel welcome compared to some places who just take your money and point you towards a row of carts.
Anyway, the important stuff is that the course is in decent shape and is priced similar to others in the area. A couple of tee boxes are in pretty rough shape and parts of the course could use some TLC, but overall it’s in decent shape and is an interesting track. It’s not in the same condition as LPGA, but it’s not as expensive either so I guess you get what you pay for. Bottom line is I’d go back again next time I’m in town.
We paired up with a single. A foursome in front of us wasn’t ready, so they let 2 of us tee off. We caught up to a single on 3rd hole, had an enjoyable round with him.
Some of the fairways a little thin on grass. Most of the greens in good shape.
Nice to have GPS in the carts.
Nice to have Beverage Cart on the Course.
Departed after golf, did not use the bar or restaurant.
Course is in good shape. Lots of water in the lakes, but dormant winter grass starting in the rough areas. Greens were nice.
Still needs work
This course has great bones, but not well maintained. Tee boxes are not moved daily so very thin. Fairways are lacking adequate grass. Greens decent, but some patch areas. Just frustrated with such a nice layout.
One of my Favorites
I always love playing this course. It has a great layout, friendly staff and the clubhouse is spectacular. I also appreciate the new "Caddyshack" at the turn. Only criticism is tee boxes need some work but I'm nitpicking. I'll be back and look forward to holding an outing at the Club at Venetian Bay.
Staff
Play was slow, we waited on every hole. Three club employees were behind my group. They pushed us all day. On the eighteenth they teed off before we reached our tee shots. Then they hit their second shot into us, while we were putting on the green, the whole time loudly protesting our pace. We were held up by a single who was held up by a threesome who was held up by a foursome. The starter could have helped the situation somewhat.
Great layout
Have played this course few times when we’re in Florida in December. Always enjoyed. Fast play, nice employees reasonable rates
Wide open faiways
Easy to get around this course, although a few holes were made easier by one of the foursome who had played it before. Wider fairways that weren't all tree-lined allow you to play "rescue" balls from the rough. Somewhat flat but good mounding kept it interesting, with some hidden green shots. Good warmup facilities. A shame that the wet, rainy week saturated the course. Still a good afternoon. Will play again.
great layout
normally I would rate this course high, unfortunately right now I cannot. The course was not in good condition at all, specially considering the rates were the most I have ever payed.I love playing here but not for the winter rates when the conditions are subpar.I'd rather drive an hour for better value.
Very wet... muddy. Wait a couple of weeks. Hopefully it doesn't rain. Course needs a ranger. 2 foursome playing from tips, had no business playing from there. Group was using a tripod videoing themselves. Backed up the whole course. Called in , no body came out. 45 minutes behind pace. Sucked.
Great layout
Usually I give this course a high rating but considering how much they are charging and the awful conditions, I give it a very low rating. I'm sure it will be better in the future, I cannot justify the rate for the condition.
Great Day Out
Used a hot now deal for a 1:20 tee time, had a great time. Two downsides to todays round (both minor). League that started on the back 9 around 3:30, was not made aware by staff but they allowed us to replay 1-9 without hassle. The driving range isn’t in good shape at all, dirt everywhere with no new grass growing in. The course itself is in great shape I would recommend anyone to get out there and play one of my favorite courses in the area!!
Needs work
Barely any grass in the fairways bunkers don't have any sand in them you're hitting off a hard pan greens you have a lot to have a lot of sod on them of course it's going downhill it got bought and they're not doing any work on it and it's funny they put asphalt car pass so now in the summer when it's 100°, you have oil all over the tires going out into the fairways and killing the grass somebody needs to buy this course that knows something about golf I do not recommend it
Great time.
Nice course worth the time and money. Some rough spots on fairways, but easy to work around.
