The Club at Venetian Bay
About
The Club at Venetian Bay is part of a unique residential community with a Mediterranean theme. Colorful buildings, mosaics, and Mediterranean vegetation surround the championship golf course. The biggest challenge for the designers was transforming what was formerly a cow pasture into a lush, challenging course. The design team of Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton seemed to have little trouble doing so. The front nine plays through the woods while the back nine is more open with a few links-style touches. The most prominent feature of this golf course is the abundance of sand bunkers. There are more than 100 strategically placed throughout. The bunkers present a formidable test but they are nicely balanced with ample landing areas. They are also geared more towards low handicappers, which means they aren't intended to kill your round.

I little slow
Had to play front 9 twice bridges were bring repaired on back 9.
F9 has a nice layout w fairly open fairways and well protected greens. The greens were green but were slow and needed to be cut and rolled.
I play a lot at near by New Smyrna golf club which has perfect greens that run about 11 and are smooth.
Head PGA
General manager they have there is the most unprofessional person I've ever run across at a golf course has no personality no people skills very rude rest of the staff in a restaurant is fantastic and on the course
Course is ok for 25-30$. But needs some TLC before paying more.
Front 9 only.
Very nice course but due to work on bridges forced to play front nine x2 for the round.
On the right track
Stopped playing here for a couple of years.. well because. Heard it was improving, and that proved to be true. Pace a bit slow this day, greens a bit slow too but generally a fun day and now well worth the reasonable cost. Back in the rotation I think. Nice work new ownership (that’s what I heard anyway). Closing 9 soon for more work, just fyi. Love to see a nice links track revived.
Venetian Bay
Greens were in great condition. Staff was working on cart paths. Sand traps which were previously covered in weeds were now maintained and added to the looks of the course as well as the difficulty. Good to see course maintenance being done. New company putting the course first. Looking forward to playing this course again as it has a challenging layout.
Slow greens and careful of the rakes
Very nice course, all tee boxes from every distance were phenomenal. Would like to see a combo card come out between the 6000 and 6550. You have the handicap slope data in the bottom draw of your desk. Makes your course more resort friendly. Many people I play like 6300. I could move up on some however what about posting scores to the index? The greens were nice except they were very slow. I do not know if that’s some kind of policy getting ready for the winter season or are they like this year round? I will look for other reviews to find that out next time I play. Had an issue with the rakes, all the fiberglass got into my hand when I picked one. Pick them up with a glove on. Maybe they can get some new ones with handles that don’t splinter. Fiberglass is not good in your fingers. You have to completely wash your grips to remove the remnants of fiberglass that went from your hand to the club grip. Played with a couple of good players which made it fun.
Reading skills would be nice
Course in good condition considering Ian & Nicole storms. Sign on the door cart path only. Group in front of us, obvious residences “their carts”, drove all over the course leaving track marks everywhere. Not even 90%. I don’t understand residents not concerNed about their home course, unless of course none of them had any reading skills. Even with cart path only we were able to enjoy our round. We like this course, respect the rules. and will return,. Hopefully with others golfers who are considerate to the rules for the day. Or at least with reading skills.
Venetian Bay is back!!
Course is looking better than it has in a long time. Driving range being redone. Greens in great shape. Staff is excellent. Cart girl was out on Saturday. This course has had its ups and downs but she is back. Can’t wait to play her again soon!!
