Course Highlights
Cypress Head delivers a challenging, accurate-demand layout with forced carries and varied holes that consistently reward return visits. Exceptionally friendly staff, well-maintained conditions, and strong value make this a standout hidden gem in Volusia County.

About

Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Par 72
Length 6805 yards
Slope 139
Rating 72.9

Cypress Head, an Arthur Hills design, is a blend of holes and styles, a layout of two distinct nines that impress players through different means. At 6,805 yards from the tournament tees, the course is not a beast (there are three alternative sets to choose from).

The first nine is the highlight at Cypress Head. These holes take on a variety of shapes and strategies with little repetition.

It features multi-tiered undulating greens and preserved wetlands with water coming into play on 14 of the 18 holes. The 14th hole is a 478-yard par 4 over water that comes into play off the tee as well as the second shot to the multi tiered green.

The Golf Club also features a lighted driving range and practice facility. Two practice putting greens, a target green and sand bunkers for honing your skills before taking on the challenges of the course

With its' superb conditions and beautiful wetlands setting, Cypress Head is a public club that offers a private and tranquil experience.

Great course

I have played this course since I was about 5 and it seemingly never ceases to impress. The course has something for everyone. Greens are a decent pace with some interesting undulations and roll great. Pristine fairways and bunkers. Plenty of intrigue throughout the entire round with all of the holes having personality. My only criticisms are that there are a few too many repetitive chutes off of the tee, a few too many forced carries and no holes on the front putting green with only pegs when there is not a tournament. Good solid restaurant and good practice facilities. Frequent water coolers and on-course bathrooms. I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area.

This course has a great layout

The course was in great shape from tee to green. The green speeds were a little slow but rolled good. Look forward to playing the course in the future.

Solid Play

Being from NC, this course is what I imagined is a good typical Florida public course. The layout of the course was very good. A unique course with a good variety of holes. Long, short, tight, wide open, and with a lot of movement and doglegs. Greens were in good shape and rolled smooth. Fairways and tee boxes were in ok shape. Though I felt like there were alot of tight lies in fairways and around greens. All in all, its a good solid play at an affordable price. Nothing spectacular, not a resort course. But the type of place that if I lived here, I would probably come back to regularly!

The Best Around

I have played this course many times over the last year, probably 20 rounds or so and come here every week to practice. Every time is a great experience. The staff is friendly, the course and practice greens are always well maintained. The course is challenging enough to be interesting and forgiving enough to keep you coming back. The clubhouse restaurant has good bar food and beer prices.

satisfied visiter

First time on this course and definitely not the last. It's the nicest one I've found so far in this area that doesn't take a home mortgage to play it. The staff on check in was very nice and explained every item necessary to make us welcome and well informed. Bag staff and starter were very helpful also. Course condition was very good in all but a very few places. Fairways actually had nice turf to hit off of whereas most courses in the area tend to scalp their fairways. Sufficient water and sand on the course to make shots thoughtful. Greens were full and weed free and rolled well. Speed was medium fast and breaks were true and easy to read. My only negative was lack of GPS on carts and course marking for distances was not well apparent either. A phone software would be handy for shot distance.

Cypress Rocks

The course was in great shape, especially after they had 2" of rain the day before. The drainage was excellent and even though it was cart path only it was enjoyable to see the whole course. The greens were excellent to putt on even though it seemed like there was a couple of elephants buried out there. Definitely would recommend playing there.

Great course

Played many courses in the Daytona area and so far this is the best course for the money. There may be courses better in some ways but for the money this is an excellent place to play. Greens and tee boxes were great and even with heavy rain the night before and needing cart paths only the fairways were very good.

Could have used a Tanger to speed up the three some in front of us who insisted on plumb bobbing their 3rd puts on every green.

All in all a great place and beautiful layout.
