Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
About
Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Got lucky with the price!
Played here for $47 bucks with Hot Deals. Played at 10:45am on a Friday. Course was chill for the most part. Driving range needs love but overall the course was great!
good play
Played Champions. For a course that carries the moniker, disappointing. Not "Championship" condidition. Grass around the fringes of greens is not predictable. Different kinds. What looks like St Augustine. Then some Bermuda. Maybe the grasses were still dorman but still ... 6' off the green and from hole to hole I would not be able to tell you what to expect.
Pace of Play -- horrible. It took 4 hours to get to the 15th. 5 hour round on a Tuesday morning!
Bunkers -- hand pan and stone. One had so many pebbles i picked the ball up because there were too many stones. Not a single bunker had fluffy sand. Did not need a rake because i left no footprints. Many bunkers had standing water. Many had mud. Hasn't rained in weeks so it has to be from sprinklers. Even when you land it on the green nobody wants to look at a puddle in a greenside bunker.
Greens in good shape. 20 mph winds did not make putting simple. But nothing negative to say.
Staff -- one of the friendliest groups of people i have encountered on a golf course. Compliments to them all!
Yes, I would play this course again. (If a day with under 10 mph winds can be found.)
I think that Morongo Champions course is a gem. A serious challenge for a high handicapper. I will return in the summer when the course is not dormant. The bunkering on the course is a real challenge. Very deep large bunkers everywhere. Too bad they have chosen to not put any sand in any of them. Definitely takes away from the overall quality of the course. All that considered, I really enjoyed the course layout and attractive view.
Not a bad day.
Too windy and grill is my boy open on weekends. Other than that it was a great day on the course.
Course is bad shape
From the driving range to the small In the club house it was just bad . It got worse on the course the greens were out of shape lots of poorly maintained greens the te boxes were in my opinion the worst I’ve ever played from . The range was awful the grass wasn’t even grass to hit off of I mean come on put Matt’s down. Honestly I will probably never play there again.
Bummer
Was a little disappointed. Don’t know if we played on a bad day but everything besides the pro shop was closed. Cart lady not the friendliest of the bunch. Fairways had quite a bit of dead areas. Bunkers are concrete.
Great course layout
We really enjoyed the course, first time there. Was laid out great with numerous holes that test various parts of your game.
A bit shocked at the price for clubs rental ($65 a set), but they were nice clubs.
Course needs some attention
First time playing there in a while. Course could use some work, especially the bunkers. They were full of little rocks not sand. Greens were extremely fast with lots of slopes. People need to fix their ball marks. I fixed at least 3 marks per green.
Course needs some attention
Haven't played here in a year. Played the whites and the tee boxes are pretty torn up. The bunkers are basically unplayable. They were either full of rocks with little sand or had mud puddles in them. Fairways were in good shape and greens run fast with lots of undulations. Would play again for a good price, not the rack rate.
Won’t come back, the bunkers are unplayable
Played here on a Friday. The group I play with, are all good to average golfers. We have played here many times, but haven’t played here in about two years. We were so disappointed at the quality of the bunkers. They are virtually unplayable. The designer put bunkers All over the course, difficult spots, challenge you on approaches, steep faces, and just all around beautiful bunkers. But now they are unplayable because they are completely unkept. You have to pick up your ball and pull it out because there’s no way to get a club under it. It just bounces off the ground. So disappointing, that we all agreed we’re just not coming back. Oak Valley is across the street, we’re gonna try out there next week.
Disappointed, No Improvement.
Pace of play here, in my opinion has gotten ridiculous. I was 53 mins. behind pace on hole 15!! From the start we waited on every single shot. At one point there were 4 groups on one single hole. Due to the crazy slow pace of play I wasn’t even able to finish the round. I teed off at 11:40! Frustrated with the pace and the fact I wasn’t going to be able to finish before dark I drove in… only to pass a 6 some playing on the green on 17 and a wide open 18th… I really wish they would get their pace of play under control. Have heard for over a year now that they were supposed to get sand in their bunkers also. They remain hard pan with little to no dirt (sand would be nice), and more rocks than I care to try to fish out so I’m not ruining $180 wedges. Could be an amazing course. Wish it wasn’t this way. I won’t be going back until I hear significant changes have been made. Sorry Tukwet.
Nice Layout
Beginner golfers held up everybody and the traps are almost unplayable. Just add some sand and you have a great course.
