Keep them straight
Beautiful course. Always love coming back here every year. If you aren't a straight hitter it can be frustrating but the course is in great condition and the staff are always friendly.
Best course played this year !
What a great time we had !! Facilities are first class, staff is very accommodating and friendly and course is in excellent shape ! Will be back soon !! Only negative is that kitchen closes at 3:00 but understandable business wise. Play it ! You'll love it !!
Great
Play was very good! Friendly staff course in Great Shake!
Great course, slow play
I love this course. Davis Love III did a great job with the layout. The only problem was, as a twosome, we got behind a foursome that was playing the blue tees. There's no way anyone in this group could break 90. I'm a 12 handicap and I and my partner play from the white. And do you think they let us play through? No. But it gets worse. So, we get to number 11 and the foursome in front of us catches a three some who, again, were playing the blue tees. These guys were worse than the foursome and they let the foursome play through! We're talking about a three some that can't stay ahead of a foursome. But do you think they let US play through? No, they didn't even acknowledge we were there. This was a 5 hour round of golf. Something needs to be done about guys who can't properly assess they're own ability in order to know what tees to play from. In my opinion, you shouldn't be playing the blues unless you can break 80. But, as I said in the beginning, I love the course. The greens were good and rolling at a 10. I highly recommend this course. But play it from the white. You'll find it quite challenging.
fun course
This is a very nice course with wonderful greens. The fairways are wide
o ff the tees but I still found a lot of bunkers.. A great value this time of the year.
River Hall
Very good layout, and in good condition. Greens were very good and rolling an 11. Played in 4 hours with no difficulty. Staff and amenities were very good. As a bonus, there is a complete GPS system on every cart.
A forgiving course, but poor pin placements
River Hall is always in good condition, a major coup in the current drought conditions. Not much water comes into play and the fairway landing areas are generous, but watch the greenside bunkers as a defense. Greens are not too contoured, but the pin placements were questionable. Seemed like too many were four paces from the front edge. With the green surface very hard and stimped at 10, this is a real problem for recreational golfers.
Still, RH is a go-to course down here and at $75 a better value than some others charging near or as much with little value for it.
River Hall
One of my favorite places to play around Fort Myers. A little on the pricey side, paid 100 for 18 and cart, but for March what can you expect down here. Greens were fair running about 12, smooth and in good shape. Fairways were green and nicely manicured. Rough was fair, you have to work hard to lose golf balls. Not much water mostly sand traps. Sand is sugar sand and consistent. I am an 11 up north and shot 84 from white tees. My playing partners were 18's and still had a good time except a few sand traps gave them some high scores. Booked on golf now, and had a good choice of tee times.
Reasons for overall low score
There were no range balls to hit when we arrived driving range in very poor shape. Pace of play was slow club house was closed when we finished no golf attendants present at end of the round it was like a ghost town.
Fine course, tough greens
I really like this course. As a relatively new player, I like the open fairways and large greens. Having said that, the greens are fast and tough, with undulations, tiers, and pitch. Bunkers are well placed to catch errant hits.
The course has a very nice practice area, and the pro shop is friendly and well equipped. Finally, the clubhouse restaurant has a nice menu of fairly priced items. All in all, one of the best in SW Florida, considering price, course, and amenities.
Worth it
River Hall is a very nice course with great features. Nice driving range and practice area. Course was very forgiving (except for #17) and you could make it somewhat easy playing from 6000+/- or very challenging from 7000+/-. The greens were what I consider perfect! They rolled out beautifully at just the right speed (10 on the day we played...and they even posted the green speeds!) We had just finished playing some high end courses in Bonita Springs and Longboat Key where the greens were TOO fast.
Overall, I would recommend this course to anyone. Just curious why the housing development there seems to have come to a standstill???
River Hall
The winter drought and a lot of play have taken its toll on the course - now hard, dry and at times hard to take a comfortable divot and no fluff on the course right now anywhere
Enjoyable, Suited for all skill levels
The course was in good shape. It is a very open course layout so any skill level would enjoy the round - in most cases you would have to hit a terrible direction ball to get into trouble. Played on a windy day but because the course is open and forgiving you could survive a wind blown shot. Enjoyed the round and will return in the future.
We apologize for not providing the River Hall experience you deserve and that golfers have come to expect and enjoy. Though we suspect the St. Patrick’s Day golf and Club activities affected the few areas that you mention, falling short in regard to any individual golfer or dining guest leaves the team disappointed and motivates us to be continually better. Though we certainly prefer the many kudos and accolades received, we appreciate your candor as your thoughts offer us an opportunity to reflect and do the things necessary to achieve better. Thank you.
